X-MEN : Days of Future Past Thread

Fuck this.

I’m just gonna watch these in rotation for 2 hours and call it a day.

Tidbits from the Empire Magazine feature

[details=Spoiler]Sunspot was originally supposed to be in First Class. Will still be Brazilian in the movie. Was happy he didn’t have to speak Portugese though. Is referred to as being part of “Kitty Pryde’s future pack”

  • Shawn Ashmore approached Iceman as a more mature person in this movie

  • Daniel Cudmore says Colossus is “more of a protector. More of a hero” in this movie. Thinks fans will be happy with his portrayal

  • Quicksilver is recruited to break Magneto out of prison

  • It’s insinuated that modern day Beast is dead

  • Blink is a cool and silent mutant. Fan Bingbing was cast by Singer because of her martial arts skills

  • It was very important to Singer that the Sentinels were purple and looked humanoid

  • Quick backstory of the film: Vaughn originally wanted the movie to be set during JFK’s assassination, but then preferred to set it in the '70s. Kinberg decided it should be 1973 because that was near the end of Vietnam and the Paris Peace Accords (two big action scenes take place in Saigon and Paris). Tom Rothman said they should end the movie with McKellen and Stewart tying the two timelines together. Singer said they might as well do time travel, after which Kinberg decided they should do DoFP, who pitched it to Vaugh and the studio. Kinberg also wanted the emotional core of the movie to be Xavier becoming Professor X like First Class was about Erik Lensherr becoming Magneto. Kinberg then worked on the complicated script for the movie which involved bringing back everyone

  • Havok and Toad are very minor roles.

  • Bringing back so many actors was thought to be incredible expensive, but they made a lot of “creative deals” (multi-movie contracts?)

-** Matthew Vaughn was actually the person who decided only Wolverine would work as a time-traveller, so the people who think that was all Singer can pipe down now**

  • Kinberg makes a point that while this looks like another Wolverine movie, he actually fulfills more of a Kyle Reese role. “He may be in the most scenes, and he may be most critical to the story, but he’s not the one who’s going through the emotional journey in this movie. That’s Charles.”

  • Evan Peters on Quicksilver: “Everybody’s so slow to him, it gives him an attitude. He’s a little impatient.” Oh, and confirmation that Magneto is still his papa.

  • Matthew Vaughn on leaving DoFP: “It didn’t excite me enough. The thing that was exciting about it was bringing all these actors back together. What a cast! But I’ve worked with great actors and I just thought, ‘I’ve got to do my own thing.’”

  • The future sentinels are entirely cgi-generated and have the ability to detect a mutant’s powerset and find a way to use it against them. Trask based this on Mystique’s abilities.

- There is a huge third-act battle that involves exploding spaceships and the surviving X-Men having to defend their hideout in Mongolia from an army of sentinels while also trying to keep Wolverine alive. Meanwhile, the final act in 1973 involves Magneto, the film’s true villain, making a play for power

  • There are a lot of easter eggs and callbacks to X-Men history on paper and on screen. There’s a tease of a cameo from a returning actor that will get fan tongues waggin (hi, James Marsden!)[/details]

Cyclops only gets a cameo? Fucking really?

Yeah, who the hell let him into the movie at all? As if things couldn’t be worse…

Cyclops died in X3, and the movie is too crowded.
Unless you want a Rogue situation lol (Is she in or out? Check any forums related to the movie lol)

If true, m thinking that may be after the time travel ends and Cyclops is “restored” as a result of doing stuff in 1973.

I didn’t see a body so Cyclops is out there…somewhere.

All they have to do is say or imply that Jean teleported him through time/space, and then we find out he’s still alive in some weird way that’ll apply to X-Men: Age of Apocalypse.

Quicksilver looks like the bad guy from Mutant X.

i hope quicksilver looks older on screen.

Corsiar, are you there?

Cyclops is the leader of the X-men, nigga stay getting shafted in the movies

Trailer coming out next Monday!

and…

A certain actor from the original trilogy confirmed to have a cameo…

[details=Spoiler]http://www.showbizspy.com/article/268113/kelsey-grammer-shoots-beast-cameo-for-x-men-days-of-future-past.html

Tossed Salad and Scrambled eggs! Oh my stars and garters![/details]

In terms of broken abilities, it’s stupid he still cannot control his optic blasts. We have mutants who are immortal, destroy galaxies, remove other people’s powers, yet he needs his glasses all the damn time.

I don’t mind it, because when Cyclops isn’t being written like shit (which is rare) he’s fairly likeable. And the only reason he isn’t an omega level mutant is because of the glasses and head trauma and it’s the same stupid reason Iceman usually isn’t portrayed as one (He’s not imaginative enough. What kind of storytelling…and then they keep making excuses for him not owning everyone…you know what, I’m going to stop, because it still pisses me off how much they keep shafting Iceman).

…fuck that…no one wants a broken ass cyclops. if we gave him the ability to control that shit its be a wrap lol.

i remember when he took his goggles off to murk a sentinal…shit was half gone.

Behold my fellow mutants…

the new trailer!

This movie is going to blow so hard.

Who is the fire guy? Sunspot?
