X-MEN : Days of Future Past Thread

So which movie will be more awful:

X-Men:DOFP

Batman vs. Superman

Transformers: Age of Extinction

Fantastic Four

or TMNT?

Place your bets, gentlemen

Going with F4 or X-Men as the worst.

Atleast with the others, you’ll get some good action scenes if nothing else

Transformers or FF imo.

FF and X-Men, i have zero faith on those franchise due past experiences.

Fantastic Four feels as though they’re doing it because they don’t want the rights to revert to Marvel.

Well the smart money would be TMNT because Bay…but at least they did extreme justice to the character designs so the movie will be great on mute.

I’ll go FF.

Bay isn’t doing TMNT, did Nolan direct Man of Steel? Bay is directing TF4.

X-Men and FF will probably screw with characterization the most. Other than that, they all should be decent, loud, things-blow-up summer movies. “Awful” like a super-sized fast food combo is awful.

Whos directing TMNT them? I thought bay had that movie.

Same guy who directed Battle LA. Yeah I know. Bay’s just producing.

bay is def more in control of turtles than the director. but the designs are fine…and if i remember correctly its action is bein handled by the raid coordinator.

Why is there always this confusion when a big name produces instead of directs. Wachowskis didn’t direct Vendetta or Ninja Assassin. Spielberg didn’t direct The Island or Transformers. Nolan didn’t direct Man of Steel or that new ‘Depp in a computer’ movie. You can see their input and influence (like Bay’s ex-sidepiece getting a starring role) but it’s not their movie.

Directing is like a stand up act, other people can write the material and coach the comedian, but at the end of the day the comedian on stage is telling the jokes and making the jokes funny in his own way. Unless Bay’s on the set and in post telling everyone what to do, he’s not directing. Bay as producer is expected to be closely involved, but as director… (Googles) Jonathan Liebesman should do all the heavy lifting.

don’ get me wrong at all, I’m not saying there was any let down, I was pleasantly surprised, but in the two plus years since I’ve seen it I remember the knife combo and Prof X helping him move the satellite dish, those were just stand out moments.

And I remember being in the theatre after JUST wikipedia-ing Darwin and being salty that he died. I was like some dude reading Naruto who keeps saying “Itachi’s going to come back!”. Every other scene I was expecting him to pop up all evolved after teleporting away or something. I even waited till after the credits for a ‘Deadpool-esque’ reappearance…sOMETHING.

Nope.

The black guy died. The virtually unkillable one. Sure…Cyclops brother/father/however they perversed it - Havoc is fine. Sure Banshee was fine. Why couldn’t they have killed a white guy? I’m just saying…it’s ALWAYS the black guy, but no white bitch tripped and it wasn’t a horror movie.

At least black people get roles. They changed Mandarin into a white dude. That’s some Dark Phoenix level of racism right there.

I can see why. Do you really want some Chinese guy running around as the fucking Mandarin? They’d be opening themselves up for shit from Asian rights groups left and right.

xmen days and ff will be the worst mane. i will see neither of those in theater, i dont want aids.

tmnt and man of steel 2 gonna be dope. niggas mad :stuck_out_tongue:

That is true, but Im the main reason was that blockbusters get a lot of money China now and they don’t want to offend potential customers.
Money is everything.

^lol yeah no. Piracy rules in China so even in that market there will be more people pirating the thing than paying money to see it. They didn’t want to deal with a lawsuit or public outrage like what’s happening with the Washington Redskins.

That’s a knee jerk reaction, mainly since there are a very few well known Asian actors in Hollywood. Usually they are women due to their “exotic” beauty. But as for male actors, they’re all type cast as martial artists or some other stereotype.

It’s stupid for the outrage when Mandarin is an established villain. If that was the concern, pick some other character for the storyline.

Well they should’ve because Mandarin was honestly a really meh villain even in the comics. He obviously got play because he’s the most well known IM villain but he became outdated with the quickness hence why you don’t see him all that often anymore to begin with.

However…they really had no other decent IM villains to go to after that.

So maybe what we really should be noting is that they shouldn’t have made any more Iron Man movies.

I think “Living Laser” could be done justice, and despite the anger over it, I can’t front - I LIKE what they did with Mandarin (to an extent). I mean the plot twist was ‘OK’, but the over idea, middle east guy, part of a terrorist network yah yah yah…it was very well setup…I don’t need him to actually ‘have’ ten rings. But Living Laser? Sure he’d be ‘different’ from the comic…but I think he could have worked.

But I won’t lie - as someone who views a hero to only be as good as his villain (hence why The Joker and Magneto are two of the most important villains of all time to me) - it does show the weakness of Marvel…most of the bad guys are just ‘meh’, or EXTREMELY outdated…or if they are good, due to trying to milk them, they become pseudo-heros like Venom did (can’t speak for where he is now as I just odn’t know). Avengers really only hve Ultron left in the tank before you go to ‘Thanos’ tier IMO. But as I get reminded, I’ve been out of comics for a decade and some change so who knows what’s developed since then. Last time I read Venom he was still Eddie Brock…then I heard he became the Vulture…and then Scorpion…yeah…
