X-MEN : Days of Future Past Thread

Yeah I do agree.

Its a catch -22 in that while I like FC and DOFP a lot, its a classic Singer ism to focus on Magnus,Xavier,Wolvy.
Also, I’m sure FOX executives want to milk J Law, Fassbenders , and Jackman exposure .
I believe Jlaw fassbender, and McAvoy have a 3 film contract, while Jackman is picture to picture.

My gut feeling is J Law and Fassbender will bounce after Apocalypse b/c they have a lot of offers/fame, while McAvoy and maybe Hoult(beast) will stay with whoever the next actors to play Storm, Scott, jean and just do a forward progressing series from there on.
Jackman will do his solo movies and maybe have a supporting role in the main series while they introduce Gambit or new versions of existing characters.

I realized yesterday, that anyone who’s like 15 or younger most likely imagines Jackman as wolverine - more than anything from the comic. Has there really been any actor to continuously reprise a role as long as he has? It’s no shot - he’s done a great job and his dedication to constantly improving - shows.

As for anything post Apocolypse, I don’t know. I’m a firm believer that the villain makes the hero, Magneto is one of the best villains of all times, not just by power, but by proximity - friend of Xavier, leader of Xmen at various points in comics, but by purpose. So, Magneto NEEDS to maintain ‘threat status’ in a ‘new series’, and while I’m not going to pretend to swoon over Fassbender, he has nailed the role to such a point, that I’d ‘like’ for him to continue. McAvoy has - no disrespect - brought more realism to Prof X than Stewart - to the point I almost would want him moving forward, despite not looking the part. JLaw, despite my like, doesn’t make me flip head over heels as Mystique. I also am not big on Mystique as a ‘major player’, she part of the lore, but having her on the same pedestal as ProfX and Mags just feels ‘off’.

Storyline wise, I think they should actually play off recent black events, and go less Apocolyspe and more anti-mutant, having a Ferguson type incident set off events that lead to - again - Sentinels. As well, I’d welceom a ‘retry’ of the Botherhood.

I want a badass Magneto like in the comics, all ripped. Nothing against Gandalf, but he’s not Magneto to me.

I don’t have an issue with the actors portraying those characters, I have issue with the characters themselves being center stage.

For anything post Apocalypse, you have to bring in Mr. Sinister. Part of me is glad he hasn’t shown up yet, as it would’ve been wasted on some B-subplot or changed to something he’s not. So instead of continuing with the theme of kill/lockup/etc mutants, introduce a character that is fascinated to the point of obsession with them - Sinister. The last thing he wants is for the mutant race to disappear, he wants to thrive - under his control.

He’d also be a great device to shift focus from Xavier, Mags and Mystique to the Summers family which has always been Sinister’s focal point.

Jim Lee x-men movie or bust!

10 yrs or so, I could have seen Rutger Hauer (Mr Earl from Batman Begins) be Magneto.
IMO he physically embodies the Jim Lee Magneto.

McKellen looks like Dave cockrum style Magneto circa Uncanny 150 from the early 1980’s.

I’m always torn on Magneto’s look. On one hand he should be closer to Ian, but on the other, there is something about the diesel Magneto that helps to instill that ‘fear’, that makes his strength ‘visible’. I can’t imagine Ian ROMing someone to death. I think Fassbender is a ‘fair’ compromise. He’s in shape, but doesn’t ooze bodybuilder or anything ‘300’ like. I mean real talk, if you had magnetism powers, you’d most likely be a fat lazy f#ck and use your powers for everything.

I didnt want to start a separate thread unless this is confirmed but…

RUMOR: Live action X-men TV series in works?

I love this movie.

A little more info on this…

Apparently it’s going to be based on Peter David’s X-Factor starring Madrox. They’re going for a “Marvel meets Fringe” type of vibe, which I’m 100% down for.

So let the casting speculation begin…

id be down for a marvel meets fringe thing. lol@ madrox leading…that dude was a fucking nutjob

I didn’t read that run of X-Factor, but know it was a cult favorite.

Now all we need is a X-Force show on FX. I’d combine a few teams for final roster of Cable, Psylocke, Elixir, Warpath, Boom Boom, and Domino. As much as I want to throw Cannonball in there, I doubt he’d make the cut due to SFX costs. Wolverine would obviously have a spot, but Jackman probably would cost too much for TV and right now no one else can play the character until they’re forced to recast. He’s locked it down too well.

It’s obvious Jackman gets swole SPECIFICALLY for the role, he doesn’t carry the muscle at ALL, and similar to Chris Evans, he doesn’t like carrying it, so I doubt he would even entertain a TV series. It’s not even about money.

Fassbender plays his magneto to the hilt. He’s playing magneto as a Bond Villain with more swag. He’s swagneto.

A huge musclebound magneto wouldn’t make sense for what the character is.

Cast 'em!

Whomever plays Domino, they have to have booty.

I have read quite a few issues of volume 2 of x-factor and I really liked it, so I downloaded the whole thing to read it from the beginning. There’s even a Madrox five-issue series, it was alright and set ups x-factor vol.2. Judging from the ending, Madrox is out of action, pity.

They tried a third volume called all new x-factor, and just days ago it was revealed it was cancelled

These guys don’t have to be 100 percent identical to the comic version. I’m happy if they keep the spirit of the character alive with great writing and a great actor than trying to make Magneto some buff old man.

i havent read that specific run. but unless he had a major character change…hes a fucking nutjob forever.

I’ve been reading ANXF and it was pretty dope. Was disappointed when they made the announcement. Perhaps since this rumored show is based on the X-Factor Investigations run, they want to keep the plate clean to avoid confusion from casual readers.
