These part when there’s a fiery explosion and then Angel with the wings, I mean, come on, what’s with this slowdown camera bullshit?! That looks like it comes from a fucking video game!! Make up your mind, Singer!!
I’m struggling with the dislike. This is a Live Action X-Men, so they are “realizing” things from the comics. The interpretation of Apocalypse is actually pretty good to me, he should have a slightly stronger accent, but he still comes off as over the top strong. Trying to look like the comic, would be no where near as detailed as it would need to be
0_0 I didn’t even realize that Apocalypse had MSP on deck for 3 of the 4 Horsemen.
I feel no gravitas from Oscar Isaac. Its fuckin Apocalypse.
When he speaks its suppose to feel like a god is talking to down to ppl.
They tried to be practical with his look with no CGI, sans the shape-shifting, and he just turned out looking like an average dude whose just really strong.
I don’t like the trailer. I don’t get why Mystique is played as like the main hero… it’s stupid already that she is a good guy here but the fact that she is like the main lead of the squad just sucks. I don’t get why Fox has to deviate the X-men from it’s property too much. Fuck fox.
I hated him doing the stupid whisper talking in the trailer, but when he was using his epic commanding speech I got hype. I fucking hate whisper speech, that shit sounds so stupid. Whispering is for soft ass mamma’s boys, not someone who was worshipped as a God. 90s Xmen cartoon Apocalypse voice FTW. I also hate how watching movies at home I have to turn it up because of all of the god damn whispering and the next scene rattles my entire fucking house with an inception foghorn.
He doesn’t have the voice but I think in the end he knows at least the amount of presence he needs as shown by the speech. I can live with that much. Now as to whether he looks the part and can carry that presence physically is another story entirely.
Oscar Issac is a GREAT actor, but physically by himself he can’t carry it; there’s no great presence just from looking at him. Regardless of the fact that I think James Gunn didn’t use Ronan the best I think he could, Lee Pace LOOKS imposing as Ronan. They should have added CGI like Marvel with Thanos; Isaac just doesn’t have it by himself.
He also didn’t seem to alter his voice to sound anything other than normal, no gruff, no trying to lower his voice. He kinda just tries to sound intimidating with just his normal voice. Its also on the staff who seems to have thought he didn’t need any modulation.
Apocalypse IS Thanos for the X-Men, and overall I think they dropped the ball on what he could have been.
