IIRC That Wizard issue came out Xmas 1994 just after TNG ended and the ST Generations film had come out.
Regarding Ian McKellen, I think it was more Singer wanted a Shakespearean actor that could hold his own dramatically against Stewart, even if it wasnt comic accurate.
At that time , Rutger Hauer wasn’t that old and was more muscular similar to the Jim Lee style Magnus.
Also, in the comics, Magnus has been de-aged or altered to be at a physical peak in various stories to get around the fact that a Holocaust survivor could physically pose threat.
At the beginning of Claremonts run, he was a baby in Moira’s care, then altered by Eric the Red to his prime for example.
I assume with Fox/Singers grounded style, Magnus has mostly aged like a normal human (though In DOFP’s future movie timeline he should be 90 something lol)
Gayness. Probably his career was one of Singer’s inspirations. Maybe it’s not a coincidence McKellen and Ellen Page are gay too, perhaps he’s trying to make showcasing gay actors.
kitty in 2006…comes out 2014. i highly doubt she knew that long ago to when she announced it. she probably had an idea she was gay but i doubt she was even close to friendly with the director to talk about that.
Again, that was only in the public place, we practically know nothing about Page’s private life. Maybe there were floating rumors, and I think there’s a big chance her family or close friends knew. Hell, she must have had a girlfriend at some point, I mean.
if your trying to hide that kinda thing…and are a celeb. no you wouldnt have a g.f. being surrounded by gay and lesbian people my whole life…if you wanna hide that shit…you do w/e it takes. from hiding it from family, friends even try denying it yourself. i dont believe there is any kinda gay agenda and everytime i see a post by someone here makin a joke about twinks…and oh man that gay director pickin his lil boys is sickening.
What if he had a girlfriend before she became a star?
As for Singer, I think she might have told the director, I mean, we can’t rule that out.
And I’m not talking about a “gay agenda” or anything, at least not in a negative way.
But… X-Men has always been about social outcasts. I guess the director picks up people who have first-hand experience about what is to “feel different”.
Look, aside from the initial “dream is dead” response that any guy would have, I didn’t give a shit about her coming out. I mean really, who fucking cares. They cast her as Kitty because they liked her previous work and thought she would be a good fit for the character, is that seriously that hard to believe? It’s not like I’m going to re-watch a movie she was in and be like “damn, I can’t enjoy it as much now”. I don’t mean to be blunt, but if you seriously think she was cast just because they “suspected she was gay”, then pretty much either you’re saying she’s a shitty actress, or that there’s some giant paranoid conspiracy behind the X-Men movies.
LMAOO Singer and Page being bffs is such a reach like cmon dude she was maybe 18 fresh out of high school when she got the role and it wasnt bc her and singer had some secret lgbt connection …please
lololol this point is moot as the actors audition and are selected afterward, not necessarily if they are " different". Ellen page is an excellent actress and person regardless if she was gay or straight.
