So I looked at the commands and damn, why did they design a stick for this game? What were they thinking? Do they really expect anyone to buy it just for this game?
I read the guide, played the demo, and I’m not seeing it.
markman loves money?
Have to admit, didn’t care about this game in the slightest, but the demo is mad fun… not sure if I agree with run taking meter though.
edit: Why no Iron Sheik?
i was really looking forward to this game… till i played the demo. i found it disapointing. the special moves were they do things in slowmo kinda kills the momentum for me. and at first i thought i wouldnt mind the bulkiness of characters… but later on, i just found it distracting.this is weird but i found the PS1-era smackdowns more “arcade-style” fun than this. anyway… maybe my mind will change once full game is released.
Yeah, I’m in the same boat. This game just wasn’t fun at all for me. It was just boring to me. I could come up with a list of contentions I have with the game, but I’m posting from my phone.

Not sure I like the weird victory conditions or run costing meter, otherwise game seems pretty cool.
If you couldn’t config the game to an arcade stick, they wouldn’t make arcade sticks for said game.
quit acting like a bunch of fucking retards.
Talk about pulling a once over on the consumers. There is no way to remap the controls. So using a arcade stick is obsolete cause you do have to use both analogs. I’am playing a final build of the game and the controls screen is like UFC game tells you what the controls are but not allowed to remap. I played the game with y Te had some fun but once i started to get into it i find that its useless with a stick. Come on Markman whats up with that and the developers ? I was hopeing this was going to be a a nice 6 button arcade wrestler/fighting game. Maybe one day they will get it right
IGN’s review said the game had too much depth and wasn’t “arcadey enough”…In my eyes, these are reasons enough to pick up the game.
LOL
Foot, meet mouth, eh Stuart?
No buy for me. Wasn’t a fan of it when I played it on a pad anyway.
The IGN reviewer was under the impression that it was suppose to be a causal arcadey party game much like Legends of Wrestlemania game from a few years ago. No idea why he would think that. He must have not done his homework
So now that the game’s been out for a day, what are people’s impressions? Is it good? I personally wasn’t too impressed with the demo (although I’ve got hope for the full game), so would you say the demo gives an accurate impression of the game, or do the other character types really open it up that much more?
Still haven’t got to check out the full game, but the demo really makes me want to get all over this game.
Meh. I guess? I didn’t buy one (and never plan to) so I could honestly care less.
this thread is still fucking stupid though and a waste of time since its just 3 pages of bitching and no real info yet.
Back to the Entertainment thread to continue actual discussion on it.
I’ll be picking up my copy and guide today and plan on playing it all day.
OK I bought the game/guide yesterday and spent last night unlocking all the characters. I can try my best to give some solid info on the game, lots will come straight from the guide, and a good portion will come from my hands on with the game. Now without questioning everybody’s intelligence im gonna assume that you all know how the HUD display operates, how to move around the ring and the button config. So im gonna label each ATTACK button as
QS (quick strike)
HS (hard strike)
QG (quick grapple)
HG (hard grapple)
Now I havent written anything like this since X-Men: Next Dimension so excuse me if im a little rusty but the first thing that needs to be broken down are the character classes. Im sure we all know what they are but if not here they are and the characters that fall under them.
Grapplers:
HHH
Mr. Perfect
The Miz
Jake the Snake
Jack Swagger
Edge
Bret Hart
PROS
Their grabs inflict more damage
Their grabs execute faster than other classes
They can chain grab (think King from Tekken) from either their strikes or either grab leading into BIG damage
They have a “charged” grab, that either goes into a lockup which leads into a chain grab combo or into a submission
They typically have a way to transition from strike/grab combo into a pin (this is a VERY good attribute)
CONS
Their strike combos are very limited
Their grab combos can be reversed by smart opponents, meaning you have to learn your mix-ups and what your TRUE combo chains are
Brawlers
Ultimate Warrior
Undertaker
Stone Cold
Sheamus
Sgt. Slaughter
Roddy Piper
The Rock
Randy Orton
John Cena
Hulk Hogan
Drew McIntyre
CM Punk
PROS
Strikes inflict more damage and have longer range
More strike combos and extensions
They have a charged strike attack that is unblockable that usually gives juggles or knockdowns
CONS
Their grabs are weak and have limited range
Their strike combos are very susceptible to being reversed easily, so learn your true strike combos and mix up grabs with them
Acrobats
Eddie Guerrero
Jimmy Snuka
John Morrison
Kofi Kingston
Macho Man
Shawn Michaels
Rey Mysterio
Ricky Steamboat
PROS
Faster movement than all other classes
Aerial attacks and turnbuckle attacks are more damaging, harder to reverse/counter and in some cases (like Eddie Guerrero) are totally unblockable and cant be reversed or countered
They can quickly mount the turnbuckle by running at the opponent and tapping attack. If they arent close to the turnbuckle they will just do a backflip.
CONS
Normal strikes and grabs do significantly less damage
Decreased range on strikes and grabs
Big Man
Big Show
Kane
Andre the Giant
PROS
Attacks do more damage
More attacks and combos lead into juggles
Cannot be knocked down by strike combos from other classes
Can control more space because their normal strikes cause knockback
Can store charge attacks making them unblockable
CONS
Slower overall movement
Limited attack options
Thats a quick overview of the characters, their classes and the pros and cons. Next post will go over different states the opponent can be placed in and maybe a breakdown of a few characters. Any requests? I do know that im gonna do Miz, Mr. Perfect, and CM Punk.
U left out HBK. WTF.
man am i happy dumbasses are not involved in the wee thread.
Get off your high horse and use the regular controller.
Also i will say that most everybody will dl the dlc.
This is not your standard fighting game. This is made for the fanboys.
Dlc should not be banned because this is a dream match game
i want to own stupids with dusty rhodes.
The other half of the roster is dlc. I see no reason to ban them really.
