Sorry about that. Cleared and replied. You’re all set.
Cool man, thanks for the info. I didn’t know you could do other colors/patterns. I’ll think of an insane color/pattern and then get back to you about it. Maybe not too insane.
Hey, Truck–
Go as insane as you’d like and I’ll see if I can do it.
I forgot to edit the main post yesterday, but everybody’s Round Gates have shipped!
received mine 2 gates & microswitches. test results later
EDIT; eczangief it wasnt even the friggin switches, its the damn harness, doesnt register left. so, i held the harness in place with the joystick on on it’s side mounted. and it worked with both sanwa and madcatz switches.
i got some electrical tape, not the most elegant solution but hey who see’s it? and compared to my stock marvel te, i must say it completes the whole arcade feeling. using a bat top ls33 spring and finally your custom gate. everything is excellent, i applaud you, i felt none of the things that sasuke’s recipients have. such as; being uneven or sharp corners where they used to be, nor any warpage. i dunno why there are more people buying sasuke gates and not yours. highly recommended
PM sent. Thanks!
These shits are amazing. I ordered one a while back, and just got to try it out last night, and it’s smoothe like butta. Anyone on the fence about these should definitely pick one up, they’re well worth it.
i agree that it has a large amount of throw… mainly due to the octogate.
which is why i am gonna try this round gate in conjunction with:
some of the ultimate jlf mod. with a battop top and a tighter spring and using the electrical tape to reduce some of the throw i think the results will be awesomeness
^^^
I’m not too keen on using the electrical tape-- I always just feel like it’ll get gooey and gross and not feel as smooth as it should.
I think a combination of levered micros and a suitable actuator (JLW maybe?) would be dopeness. Also, the Yenox (cheap Happ-style buttons) microswitches are stiffer by default. I swapped these into a JLF that I had been using cherry switches on, and those alone made it feel 100x better.
double-post, I’ll put something cool here later :]]]
Edit:
I’ll have to order some different (shorter) levered micros-- the JLF variant has levers that are too long-- I don’t really want to cut them if I can avoid it.
But if people are interested I can make drop-in ready JLF American mods: Round gate, levered switches, bat top and heavy spring/micros.
How tailor-made could you make 'em? Say, for example: I wanted the standard balltop instead of the bat-top, but still wanted everything else? I think having at least a balltop option would be an awesome idea! Heck, I’d get one.
Ball-top would be perfectly doable, since it’s the same shaft for each.
I’ll work out how much I could provide these for, and then post up again with some pictures. Should be about a week before I work out the best way to Americanize/Happify the JLF, and then post up.
Because I ordered from Sasuke182 before eczangief debut.
I’m going to buy an eczangief to see.
eczangief, put me in for one.
I’m super strict, and circles are really hard to make; I’ll see how you do.
So you are using the GT-Y to make these Circle Restrictors.
What was with the first one you made?
I would like to have that same one in the future too.
Because there is no color.
The original circle I made was done using the ASCII clear GT-Y knockoff octo. The newest batches have been with the real GT-Y’s which are orange. So unless you have or can get an ASCII or another clear octo, you will have to settle for orange.
I look forward to the challenge of making an exquisite circle gate for you sir.
just got my gates. l i tried sasuke’s and i even made my own and i love the circle fro marve . eczangief’s gates look PERFECT. he said he made them as close to humanly possible to the throw of the octo gate and he did. the circle is dead center too. haven’t tried them yet but i’m sure they’ll be great. will report back after actually playing on it.
to eczangief just one tiny little thing you might wanna do is sand it down at the end for like 5 seconds with 400 grain or even finer sand paper. i did that with the one i made for myself and it just makes it that much smoother. just a suggestion. anyway, thanks for teh gates man! you did a great job on these. anyone thinking about buying, get one.
Oh, so the first one was made with the ASCII Restrictor Gate.
I have one, but not going want to modify.
So I stay for the Sanwa GT-Y.
Laugh.
I don’t know if I should stay calm or be excited for yours eczangief.
When I got the Custom Circle Restrictor Gate from Sasuke182, I examined it for ten minutes.
Then it went straight back into the package.
I did not bother to install into Joystick.
I’m so Dick.
Laugh.
ec, go ahead and put me down for a circle. And don’t forget our PM Thanks! Let me know the outcome of what we talked about, and I’ll pay you whatever amount as soon as you can give me a definite answer.
Thanks for the input. I will definitely use 1000-1600 grade sand paper on these to finish them off. I’ve been using a very fine wire wool as a last step, but your idea is a good one. Thanks for helping me make a better O-gate :bgrin:.
kodee vu: Edit: Sorry, but the original buyer did come through.
eczangief, no prob man.
also i tried these, and they perform as expected. if you want one, def try it out.
also eczangief, can i make a special request with these gates? can you make me an octogate that’s halfway sanded down in to a circle? somewhere in between. that way it still feels like an octogate but it’s smoother since the corners are less defined. it’s just something i thought of and wanted to try out.
XM: I can do that for you. I tried one out in progress, and I did like the feel. Next month or so I was planning on introducing a couple alternatives-- lol @ Softo-gate-- but I’ll start sooner with that plan. :]]
