Queue updated. Mr. K and Scamp, if you guys still want yours modded, let me know, but I never heard back about shipping quotes, so I removed you guys.
Will you be offering ChImp installations when it becomes widely available?
I’m fairly certain I will be.
Queue updated.
am I your first customer? I’m nervous…
I got a PS3 TE. I live 94582. I have zero parts.
how much to make it work for ps3 and xbox?
The price quote I’m getting from Gamingnow for parts: $45. Less if you want a switch instead of an Imp.
$30 for labor.
Shipping: $19.
I got a tournament this weekend. Sign me up for next week?
BTW - by zero parts i meant anything extra that isnt in a SF4 TE stick, just in case I was confusing. I dont know what a IMP is. Maybe a quick run down on the difference or pros and cons in the FAQ section?
Most of this stuff is common knowledge in the Tech Talk forum, so I forget that most people don’t read it.
Basically the Imp is a switchless setup for making two USB devices co-exist in one. This was always done with a Switch before, to where one side = 360 and the other = PS3, but Toodles made a board that did this without a switch. In place of a switch, whenever you plug your stick into a powered up console with a certain button held down (anything you want, but usually assigned to Guide/Home), that tells the board which system it’s sending a signal to. So, if you didn’t hold down a button, it would know that it’s working in PS3 mode, and if you held down the home button, it would know it’s working in 360 mode. The result is a more attractive looking setup, with no switch sticking out, that looks stock from the outside.
I’m willing to do both, and the difference in price is on the main page in the FAQ, but the choice is yours.
I am not at the point of needing any type of dual mod yet but I want to price a service if it’s avail. I have a Madcatz PCB from one of those bad atariesque arcade sticks they released, and I have a stick to put it in, but I can’t solder for the life of me (my large hands are not my friends in this matter) I have been able to verify all buttons working on it. How much would a simple 360 padhack without wiring to a Cthulhu cost?
I’d be willing to do that for about $15-$20. That’s the bulk of the work for a dual Mod.
$15 would probably be my best price for it.
thanks for info… ill go the IMP route. I will contact you next week, after the tournament.
Awesome. I’ll go ahead and PM you my paypal and address.
Well yes and no. Yes, as in you’re the first dual mod I’ve done for a forum member. But no, I dual modded my friend’s SE last month, and of course, both my sticks are dual modded.
Nothing to worry about. As soon as I receive the parts for the mod, it will get done.
Do you have any pics of the work you done?
I can post some, but I’ll warn you, the wiring isn’t pretty, but both of my sticks were done in rush for tournaments, so I just wired them up as fast as I could, just so long as they worked. I’m planning on cleaning up the wiring soon, just haven’t gotten to it yet.
So you won’t be looking at pretty wiring with pictures from my sticks, but I will be striving to maintain neatness in the wiring with my commissioned work. But I could still post up pictures if you want.
ooo, +1 on the pix.
Also a couple of questions:
I have a PS3 TE and a 360 TE
- would it be easier to start with a 360 stick to dual mod or does it even matter?
- Would it be possible for you order the parts needed for the dual mod and wire it up without me sending you my stick and/or parts and then just send my some instructions or something so I can finish the wiring to my stick to make it all work?
I know it probably sounds like a pain but with all the horror stories about people getting jacked, I don’t want to be part of that statistic.
- It’s easier to dual mod a 360 stick over a PS3 one.
- The bulk of the work on dual-modding a 360 stick for PS3 support is the wiring up of the inputs to the 360 board, wiring both to the IMP then mounting everything in the case. If you were wanting to go down that route, it would probably be smarter to either do it yourself, or send me the 360 PCB to wire it all together. That way, you don’t lose your TE, if someone jacked your board, you could call Madcatz to get it replaced, and that way, i can assure everything works right before I send it back to you. Then I’ll just send you a diagram of where to mount everything up safely.
pm’ed
Ok, here’s a pic of one of my sticks insides. Like I said, not pretty, just in working order.

Like I said, my commissioned work will look better.
