As explain in the thread in Tech Talk, I’ve made two board for installing Brook products into Madcatz TE/SE stick.

This is the REV 2 of the board I’ve made last year.
Kit contains:

  • a front panel with:

    [] LS/DP/RS switch
    [    ] Lock/Unlock Home/Turbo/Start/Select switch
    [] Players LEDs where old top turbo led where or on Players LEDs for SFxT layout. Colors order are Blue, Red, Green and Purple (purple is slightly less bright)
    [    ] Turbo Button + LED. LED colors is random from what I have in stock
    [/list]
  • Harness for Players LEDS, LS/DP/RS and Turbo Key/Turbo LEDs

Options on order:

  • LEDS Layout: either classic for TE/SE or layout for SFxT stick (above home button),
  • Want something else than turbo? I can adapt the harness for what you want,
  • Ask for different LEDs color.
  • You can choose a JST connector for LS/DP/RS

I’m based in Canada so all the order are sent from there. I’m assembling all the boards by hand so expect some delay.
Don’t yell at me for the price, blame Canada Post.

Exemple of shipping to the US for 1 kit:
No tracking: 7$
Tracking: 15$

Exemple of shipping to Europe (i.e. England or France) for 1 kit
No tracking: 7€
Tracking: 28€

I’m not refunding you if an untracked package is lost. It’s at your own risk. I had too much issue with paypal as a seller and some bullshit so now I’m clearly anouncing it.
I didn’t have any problem for now with USA and Canada, but international shipping is an other thing.
I strongly suggest you to make a bulk order if you are in Europe and use a tracked package. I’ll do my best to avoid customs but don’t be surprise if you have some.

Installing front panel

Cable harness are designed to be plugged with the UFB and PS4+ with connectors’ orientation:

Sorry if this is an stupid question, but my knowledge of electronics is pretty basic.

If I buy the audio board and desolder the jack, can I solder any TRRS jack to the board, so I can use a panel mount jack ? I know it won’t fit on the board, but soldering with cables and using the proper order, it should do it, right?

You’ll need a TRRS jack with internal switches and specifically on the second ring for the Brook PS4+.

This ring is supposed to be the ground and “close” the audio circuit from the board (and set it to internal sound). If it’s “open” (not grounded) then the board understand there’s something plugged. That’s why Brook recommands to ground this pin if you’re not using their daughter board, or else you won’t have sound.

Most of electronic components stores call them “X conductors, Y contacts”. I’ve never found one with only a switch on the 2nd ring, so you’ll have to find one with switch on all the contacts something like “4 conductors, 7 contacts” (tip, ring1, ring2, sleeve, switches on tip, ring1 and ring2).

Thanks for the information, I think if I end using my own jack, I will just use a normal TRRS and add an On/Off button , it is imposibble to find any panel mount options that fits what you said.

Hey,

So I added the front panel board and most of it works fine.

However, the home button doesn’t. I used a 20-pin harness on the Brook UFB and connected the Home button wires up to the locking mechanism on top of the board. If I use one, will the other not work?

Sorry, I don’t get your installation. Can post a pic?

The Home button only use 1 wire. The other wire is the KGround for Start and Select. The Black should be the Home, the Red is for Keyground.
Try to link the home to the terminals screw first to test if it’s working.

I won’t be able to do this until Wednesday, but I did screw in the one wire to ground. I’ll try removing it and see what happens.

If you have link the home to the ground, well yes it won’t work.

The KGround is supposed to replace the ground on Start and Select. As I told you, this is only if you want the lock switch on start/select.
If not, just leave the Kground alone.

Yes they are.
But remember that like the TE, you’ll have increase the size of the audio hole to let the 3.5mm barel to fit in.
