Is the bag only big enough to carry TEs? From the pics, it looks like a pretty tight fit for TEs…

There’s actually quite a bit of room that you get when you put the stick into the bag. It isn’t tight at all. From the picture it only seems tight because the bag is flattened inside the packaging.
