ok well my stick completely died and I was wondering if I can buy a controller and replace the wire with out having to do any sodering meaning taking the little white peice from another controller?
And if its possible what controller do i buy? can I please get an answer asap i leave to evo east in less than 24 hours
PS1 dual shock Series A controller, usually the translucent colored cases⦠i wanted to use this but sadly finding any playstation controllers up here is slim pickings and a luck of the draw. no soldering needed, just follow the solderless hack page and it could be done pretty quickly if youāre strapped for time.
sorry about that, I dont know how a wire such as that got cut especially considering itās pretty well covered and was tested quite a bit before it was sent out. I guess its the same way some sticks make it to the customer not sitting perfectly flat. they are tampered with before they make it through the mail system and the bottom cover is tightened unevenly causing it to twist.
keep me posted

Any idea when my stick is being shipped? Iād like to see it before Evo.
finals?
thats like mid august right?
iām sending it out EMS monday at the latest so you should have in by thursday provided no wars break out in the next week that cause mass paranoia at american customs
Just an FYI, finks, metal moves just like wood, although itās very very minute, it does move.
Just a bit of info. You build some awesome sticks, keep it up
thanks for the compliments!
see, the way the enclosure is designed all the screw holes are enlarged to allow the enclosure to be set square during final assembly. the āoldā design that most people get 4 screws hold it all together and typically itās very solid when itās assembled but improperly assembled it suffers from the same fate as anything made from sheet metal. where how itās tighted drastically effects how itās going to sit on a flat surface. I guess kinda the same way if someone didnt line up the holes evenly fitting the cover onto a piece of hifi equipment, it will twist or bow in places. not to say the old design isnt good it just requires a bit of tweaking in the final assembly but once itās there it will stay that way unless itās disturbed.
if the joystick enclosure was a monocoque design it would be easier to assemble and maintain but the old āprovenā design isnt made this way but the new curved top design is closer to a monocoque design and uses hardly any screws to hold itself together. infact the screws that do exist only fasten the cover to the bottom and has no effect on its strength and the upcoming design uses absolutely no screws not just for the case but for the joystick and other components that require screws. interesting stuff indeed!
after working in the design field (aerospace, fabrication houses, etc) for over a decade Iām aware of the pros and cons of everything I make. I try to keep things simple because in the end the customer has to feel the effects of complexity in their wallet errr paypal and for me, the 9 to 5 then 6 to morning I work on sticks doesnt leave me with much time for anything else and the funny thing is I dont even own my own joystick or a game console for that matter at the present time! So the faster I can assemble 6, 10 or even 15 sticks per month is a bonus lol. I never thought it would have turned into this thats for sure! I always thought I would sell 4 and people would have forgotten me but thats not how it went and iām happy for it.
maybe I will make myself a joystick over the weekend haha

#3 is still in fabrication stages. Iāll probably paint it this week coming
Where do you buy your buttons finkle?..especially the buttons in this pic http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y239/suite53sticks/commissioned%20work/eric-005.jpg
cesar, whats happening?
those buttons I got directly from Japan in one of my orders. if business gets too busy I just put in a large order of parts and save in the end.
if you want buttons like that Per can get you them too! theyāre seimitsu PS-14-K buttons in case youāre wondering.
hope this helps
finks
Not much man,
obviously from japan :P, but what site?
Oh yeah
POSITIVE FEEDBACK:Finkleās Design is awesome work, definitely a person you want to buy a stick from (>ā.ā)"
Finkle=guaranteed craftsman
I usually get them directly from a major distributor in japan in high volume but unless youāre buying 200+ push buttons not really worth anyoneās while due to fees etc for a few things.
but per is an excellent person to get parts from, nothing but good things to say about him and his parts business.
