Thanks again guys, feeling a lot better these days which is nice for a change!
Perhaps years of exposure of various things has gotten to me, I do usually wear a nice respirator especially when using the more industrial finishes and the chemicals to mix them. On a daily basis i’m exposed to quite a broad range of things ranging from sawdust all the way up to pretty nasty chemicals. whether or not it contributed to it is anyone’s guess, if it becomes a chronic issue then I will see a specialist about it and go from there.
I have gotten some emails wondering if I will continue making the traditional types of sticks I make and the answer is yes. Those have been my bread and butter for quite some time so there’s no reason for me to stop. I figure just because coke zero exists doesnt mean the classic has to be pulled off the shelf. It’s just nice some times to bring new things to the table and it allows me to be challenged once in a while which is a good thing.
About the 360, yes the xb360 joysticks are PC compatible and work fine. Might need the driver from Microsoft and possibly the wireless receiver if it’s a wireless stick. Only issue I ever seen with a 360 pad was with the prototype (pre-release) gamepads that worked with the PC and the Dev machines but not in the retail consoles. This shouldnt be an issue at all in everyday use as only software houses, microsoft and nuts like me would have them.
I might indeed need someone to come up with some artwork for some of the pre-made sticks, thanks for the offer to help out!
I’ll be ready to build again in about a weeks time i reckon, by then I will be 100% so if someone wants something let me know.
Duff, got your email and replied (but you know this )
I sent an email a few days ago, but just in case you didn’t get it, could you just estimate how much you’d charge for a PS3 stick with custom art? Prices for wired and non wired would be great too.
Well drop me PM when you do. I’d gladly help, and I don’t mind being busy so don’t hold back.
Lemme know when you’re ready to build some sticks again, I sent you an email a while back but am unsure if you had received it. I’d like to order one from you whenever you’re ready.
You’re work is incredible Finkle. Though I’m new to fighting games and Shoryuken in general, I most likely won’t purchase a nice custom stick for a while (just get something cheap to get me by for now), but I’m definitely going to request one from you eventually. I hope you never stop making ps2 ones though >_< I’m not next gen yet and don’t think i will be for quite a long time.
Quick question, compared to say the HORI RAP2 SE2, your sticks are generally smaller and lighter right? The parts and spacing should be the same or better though correct?
I’ve lurked long enough. I have no patience to fabricate my own, nor the tools. All I’ve got is a desire.
finkle, I want TWO custom sticks for PS3/PC usage. Bonus if it works for 360, but my fighting games will be on the PS3 and PC primarily. I will PM you my personal e-mail address for further correspondence.
Why now? SFA3, SF3TS, SSF2THDR, SF4, KoF12, GG… you can see what games, and I want to practice and improve on sticks. That, and I get really annoyed having to reconfigure gamepads every time someone else wants to play in order to change the bloody triggers.
First off, I’m glad to hear that you’re recovering from the respiratory illness that struck you some time ago.
Second, I never played fighting games on console so I don’t know much (if anything) regarding stick tech. I don’t know what a Sanwa is or what HRAP is. That said, with me purchasing a PS3 and getting a an Xbox 360 as a gift recently and with the recent release of Super SF 2 Turbo HD Remix and the imminent release of Street Fighter IV, I’m looking to cash in on the online gaming experience. As most fighting vets can attest to, there is no substitute for a good stick.
If time permits, I’d like for you to craft 2 sticks — 1 for my PS3 and 1 for my 360. To correspond in greater detail, feel free to send me an e-mail: big_blue8@hotmail.com
Thanks in advance and I hope to hear from you soon.
I got a few sticks to send out, i’m waiting for cardboard boxes to come in (yes I get those shipped to me now too). Once I get those I will send out some pending sticks asap those will include such people as: Omar, Will, John and a few others. Sorry for the delay, I usually have a sweet deal with the supermarket for my boxes as the boxes the plastic bags come in are near perfect to the size of the sticks! but since they changed ownership i’m on my own for boxes.
Now, New orders, I have received a few new orders recently and people have paid in full for those so I will be starting or have started them already. My shop closes for a week as of saturday for a business trip to showcase some new products we have developed. With this in mind I will not be taking orders at the moment as taking cash and not working on things is kinda lame and as much as i’m slow at times it’s nice to be able to work when I can and not sit on someone else’s cash. plus it causes even more delays and I dont need death threats etc!
it’s a temporary setback but it also gives me time to tie up loose ends on existing projects such as wiring etc which I need to finish!
sorry if this causes problems but if I take orders now there’s a good chance you wont get it until some time in january.
everything else is looking good for the others, I think I have enough tools at home to finish or get most of some other sticks closer to completion without much problems.
I’m in the process of reinstalling windows, my applications and restoring my mail so if you have emailed me and I have yet to reply it’s because I don’t have my email client up yet and gmail’s web interface sucks balls.
I really need to create an MSN account so people can ask me questions and stuff. its alot faster than logging in here. I insist on MSN as AIM and I just don’t get along, I think its a conspiracy against me being canadian
I second the Gmail over MSN. You get much more storage and can customize the site to your needs/desires. Plus it dovetails into all the other Google apps online. I use Gmail for all my business communications.
Ah i was wondering why i was not hearing a reply from you. Take your time to reply to my email as i can see your busy. Hope to hear from you soon. (P.S My email address is Poringhats@hotmail.com)
