Wrestling Thread v.4 - WELCOME BACK AMERICAN DRAGON!

@Zulu and Evo:
Exactly. It works for him. He does his job as a bad guy and does it good. I’m not very entertained by him or his character (this ongoing shit with Cena involved doesn’t help at all… I think if it ever ends, then I’ll like Orton more), but I don’t doubt for a minute that his methods are very effective. He’s a better heel than he could ever be as a face IMO. I was mainly talking about his originality as a character as opposed to what Ted Jr. doesn’t have yet. He’s got friends, but he doesn’t have enemies yet. As a face, you’ve got to have enemies to beat, or enemies to beat you to get the crowd on your side. Last night on RAW, people were chanting “Cody, Cody”… but I don’t remember them chanting shit for Teddy when he had his segment with his dad encouraging him to break out from Orton’s shadow. If you’re Ted Jr, that’s strikes one and two considering 1) you’re recognized as a top guy’s playing piece, and 2) your buddy, the other playing piece, got a chant and you didn’t. When your other buddy on the same level as you is getting more crowd empathy than you, then you got a problem. Cody did really good in that short time that he was a face before joining Legacy too, and Teddy hasn’t had anything like that except for the night that his dad hosted, and they assed that chance up already (not to mention it didn’t even hold a candle to Cody’s face-dom, as short as it was).

Spring season Orton was good shit, we all know that. When he was punting cats and then having this “what have I done??” face.

But ever since the summer hit, he sucks. That shit evaporated.

That’s how the WWE be getting us though, a guy will be on some real good shit for a couple months, then they’re terrible for even longer, but you let it slide that long cause you keep thinking about the good times or hoping for it to get creative again. They keep going stale.

I mean look at Morrison, they’re fucking up right now with his character, imo.

This is a very unique situation for Legacy because they can go a million different directions right now. We know that sooner of later, Ted will turn face. But how will that happen? Will we see a Triple Threat Match featuring Legacy at some point? Who will emerge out of Cody and Ted? Will Million Dollar Man and Dusty Rhodes play a role? What about Goldust? He could play a role in this too.

Slide: Why? What changed between spring and summer?

It’s not engaging though, I get what ur saying but I think there is a better way to execute it. With orton, there is just no presence…he doesn’t have star potential or that"spark". A lot his matches and promo’s seem complacent to the last, there is no variation or depth…it’s literally just the samething being repeated over and over again. If he was a midcard I wouldn’t really complain, but as the star heel u need to have that"allure" of villiany which i simply think Orton lacks in spades. Another possibility is that the ongoing feud with Cena could be dragging orton down, I don’t really remember the last time orton had a good feud outside HHH or cena.

You guys are insane, Orton is boring as shit as isn’t good at anything. He is not a good heel, he has no charisma, he is average in the ring at best, and he is awful on the mic. Speaking like Ben Stein does not make one a credible heel. Neither does Vince having to pump in boos or create heat for you because you can not do it for yourself.

Too much repetition, and then it’s watered down, at that.

The build ups and then how it gets wiped away, and they try to make you forget it or something, but you still know it was there. Like each week was written words on a dry erase board.

I mean, how dope the storyline was going up to Mania before when they were in the back rooms swinging sledge hammers around at mirrors and shit, and now it’s like the magnitude of these guys in the ring comes off as if it didn’t happen as extreme.

Can’t really blame Orton for being stuck in a dragging feud because for whatever reason, WWE, while they want to make new stars, won’t use any of their talent on Raw.

Orton did have a good feud with Taker.

jae…you’d hate on not being able to hate anything.

No I just tell it like it is, which is something people do not like to hear. You do not have to believe me though, the fact that no one is interested in Orton says enough.

No…actually you don’t tell it like it is. You have a known habit of hating something that everyone else likes. That’s not telling it like it is. That’s complaining for the sake of complaining.

What is the main event scene on Raw as of now? Orton, Cena, HHH, and to a lesser extent, HBK. Batista is hurt, and Y2Big are tag teaming floating between Raw and SD. Raw doesn’t have a main event scene really and Orton is the only heel on it.

IMO, when HHH pinned Orton at WM…that was when Orton lost all credibility as a heel. That was really the golden oppurtunity to validate Orton has a super heel, but he lost for no good reason which completly made him irrelevent…which unfortunatly carried into present day. I don’t really know how to fix orton at this point…I mean aside from a brand exchange and getting out of this fucking annoying cena feud what else is there for him to do?

Look on the bright side: We could be on the verge of the break up of Legacy. And as I said before, it could go a million different directions. I would do this in regards to pushing Ted, introducing Brett and keeping Cody relevant: At some point in time, Goldust will make his way over to Raw as Dustin Rhodes and try to talk sense to Cody. Cody agrees and for a while, Cody and Dustin fight Randy. At some point, Cody turns on Dustin saying, ‘RANDY IS MORE OF A BROTHER TO ME THAN YOU EVER WERE!!!’ Boom. Cody is a evil heel. Meanwhile, Ted and Brett are seen backstage talking about whatever, Randy and Cody haze Brett saying you’ll never be a part of Legacy which leaves Ted kinda like wtf. Then at I would say Survivor Series, Randy loses the WWE title possibly due to an interference by Brett (trying to assist Randy). Randy attacks Brett after the match with Cody and Ted seemingly running out to help. Cody does indeed assist Orton, whilst Ted grabs a chair and attacks both Randy and Cody. Thus leading to a feud between Legacy and The Million Dollar Brothers and elevating Ted to main event status at the same time. Now I don’t see Ted winning the WWE title anytime soon but that would make 3 new stars (Brett, Ted, and Cody), and keeps Orton in the main event without feuding with Cena or HHH.

Hear that mole? I just wrote you a 2 month long storyline.

It could work, but going by how the WWE has been booking Raw for the last couple of months…I fear we might not see the end of orton vs HHH/Cena till next WM lol. At worst, I would hate it if they just end up making ted and cody mid tier scrubs who eventually get forgotten.

Not hating on anyone here, but do any of you think Pro Wrestling is fine how it is now? If yes, please explain.

Answer: No.

Explination: RAW, TNA, WWE title match at Summerslam.

Wrestling goes through it’s ups and downs. The first half of the year, Raw was top tier, Smackdown was garbage, and TNA was…TNA. 6 months later, Raw is garbage, Smackdown is top tier, and TNA is still TNA. It should be said that ECW has been extremely consistent. It’s found it’s niche and is doing well with it. It still needs to be 2 hours IMO.

Wrestling could be so much better than what it is. Chief among them Raw. Raw needs to look at Smackdown and ECW. Those 2 brand, the wrestlers actually wrestle. Good matches are found on SD and ECW. Raw also needs new stars. Or at least new wrestlers.

C’mon TPB… you don’t think Wrestling is fine as it is right now? The re-done storylines, horrible predictability and god-awful botchfests? [/sarcasm]

No! Wrestling is in the absolute shitter. You have McMahon whos trying to appeal to the kids, which IMO is the wrong direction since even in the Attitude Era, which was NOT kid friendly at all, there were still tons of kids following it. Right now, the PG-13 era has pushed fans away. I watch RAW for two reasons A) I’ve pretty much seen every episode of the simpsons as well as family guy, and RAW is the only thing on at 6PM unless I want to know about the same repetitive shit on the news.

I don’t really watch Smackdown because I’m usually SF4ing it up.

ECW is actually entertaining to watch, minus Abraham “Imma talk for 10 minutes on a show thats pretty much a piss break” Washington. I just wish ECW would go completely ruleless and have everything be extreme rules.

TNA is one giant clusterfuck with dumbass Russo behind the scenes. Drunkiels (Daniels) AJ Styles and Joe have has some of the best matches and should EASILY be main eventing PPV’s. I remember the main reason I watched TNA was because of the X Division.

When there were guys like Sonjay pulling off the 540 corkscrews like they were crossbody presses and shit like that, that was hot. Now it feels like the X-Division has been so toned down and pushed aside so you can have the Main Event Hasbeens taking the main stage and guys like AJ and Drunkiels pushed aside. Joe doesn’t even belong in the MEH (hey…it spells Meh, just how I feel about them) and I STILL don’t understand the whole idea behind that. Kaz has been jammed into some reject video game character role, which is terrible for him because Kaz is just so much better than maskicide.

TNA could have a strong tag division if they pushed it. They have Beer Money and 3D who all have great working chemistry together. And then theres the British Invasion who definitely know how to get the heat.

Ok. So hopefully you guys are fans from the Attitude/Nitro era or earlier. It kind of sickens me what PW has become or at least was WWE has become. They sold out and became PG to sell merchandise. And TNA? They need to stop trying to emulate WWE because they’re not WWE. But they have a few good things going for them. But seriously if you’re over 40 you don’t need to be on my TV.

I saw recently they starting pushing Jeff Hardy as a main eventer. It’s about time. People forget…they Hardy’s are veterens. They’ve been around almost 15 years. Jeff has always been marketable but he’s a screw up. And Matt who I feel is superior in every aspect of wrestling, does not get pushed at all. It doesn’t have to be for a belt, but give the guy something. The high point of his career was the Edge/Lita fued in which WWE could have built Matt up, but instead they buried him because they decided they wanted to push Edge after 10 years. I see when they have no choice, they start pushing the guys they should’ve been pushing forever. Who honestly cares to see Mark Calloway wrestle anymore?

The current wrestling fan is either an idiot or a kid. The last RAW I actually sat down and watched was when they brought back D.Lo Brown. So I’m sitting there thinking, “awesome! he’ll get a mid card push and he can have a great match with so many guys!” So he comes out and…It’s dead silent. No pop or heat whatsoever…I heard the same thing happened to Chris Masters recently. And he’d only been gone what 2 years max?

Well…Jeff is gone for at least 2 years. Hopefully by that time, he’ll come back healthy and totally committed to wrestling as opposed to his shitty rock band who’s name I can’t even pronounce.

God Jeff CANNOT sing.

I know how that went, but its a play on words.

Peroxwhy?gen (Which I believe would be a play on words for Pure OxYgen) or something.

I always thought Jeff was stupid. This is just another reason to hate on him. That song was awful. So what did he ask for time off?
