I’m not going to say you’re wrong, but I will say I think you’re oversimplifying some of the shit here. Sure, some people are flat-out arguing one way or the other, but not to the point that your generalization would suggest.
It’s not that pit bulls can’t be dangerous. They’re powerful dogs with big fucking jaw muscles. Of course they can be dangerous. But they’re still dogs, and the mistake people are making is in assuming that they’re somehow different. That they’re more bloodthirsty, more prone to random bouts of aggression, or whatever. But they’re dogs, and you should expect more or less the same behavior from them as you would from any dog. Totally cool most of the time, but not immune to getting pissed off.
And, of course, it is a fact that most dog attacks against children occur when the parent isn’t around, so people aren’t necessarily out of line for suspecting parental negligence.
The baby was probably staring at the dog… you know how dogs hate that.
I intentionally oversimplified to a certain extent, but yes you are correct in noting that not everyone here have polarized viewpoints. Pit bulls are a breed designed for killing, whether or not they have mild temperaments mean little in eliminating their threat level once they go on the offensive. However, it seems that society either recognizes them as WMDs or ordinary pets that occasionally gets a “bad” owner.

Firstly, Pitbulls are aggressive dogs. They need to be hit with a “beat-stick” in order to release their jaws after they bite.
Secondly, if you choose to own a pitbull; you should be responsible for it completely.
Third, if you have a child and keep a pitbull in the house and the dog (in a turn of fantastic irony) neuters your child; tough shit.
Shouldn’t have wasted your time to begin with. People will argue about anything. No religion threads, how about no pitbull threads.
Commen sense would dictate no baby should be left around any kind of animal regardless of breed. A cat could slice open an eye ball easy just as easy a dog could bite some balls off. Babys will grab anything and get bit/scratched for their curiosity.
The woman should be held responsible for child neglect and charged for such.
