I’m convinced that this entire thread is just trolling, and that everyone here is actually a polite and intelligent person.
Spectator mode aside: Booting to the root menu. Ignoring any parameters you put into a custom search. No option for matching connection quality. Minutes to make a connection at all. Minimum of 3 tries to get that attempt that does connect.
This is incompetent and there’s just no defending this aspect of the game.
I mean, if it just takes great internet to make this happen, I have great internet! Give me the option to choose someone with a comparable connection! This is really basic stuff that just flat out missing.
I wish you could see why this is so infuriating for me, because the offline I do play of the game is spectacular. I really really like the game. I just want this other part to work better.
Sounds like what little I played of HDR, and Tekken DR online *=/
Although, the one time I tried MvC3 online, I found a game fast, got in, realized that the lag was still bad enough that the game is not the same at all. I can imagine that settups would be much more risky to attempt, as blocking on reaction is impossible for a lot of things it shouldn’t be. Sloppy mixups that would normally be reaction blocked prolly wouldn’t be most of the time (qcbC teleport with Zero into aD, for exmaple). Keep away would be much stronger. It only took a few matches to figure this out, and realize that I would stay away (as I’ve done with just about every FG online).
I understand why you’re frustrated. I think you would be less frustrated if you approached it with a “well, that mode sucks anyway” attitude =) It might help.
Edit: Ahaha, actually brings back a memory of a Ken match I had on HDR, playing as and against him. Went for tick throw, killed the guy. He tick throws me; I die and curse loudly… no way to get away from that with latency *=/ and I was done.
Does that stuff still happen to you? I haven’t had that problem in months.
Yeah, it still sends me out to the main menu randomly when the connection doesn’t go through.
I literally couldn’t get a ranked match to connect tonight.
Player matches would work about 1/3 tries with huge swings in connection quality and player skill.
I put in “Same” for rank, I play against anyone it feels like giving me.
Quick match is the same thing.
That’s really weird. Normally on Player Match I just press B and search for a match again if I don’t find a match after a second or two, but for ranked I’ll wait like 10 or 15 before cancelling and trying again. It never takes more than a minute.
Yeah dude, it’s terrible.
And what’s more baffling is that my connection is great.
Here’s how frustrated I am about it: Even though I have a great connection I ordered a ridiculously high powered router to possibly help through pure magic and fairy wishes. I mean, it’s not a wasted purchase since it’ll serve me well for years to come, but still.
I’m just asking for them to fix the booting, give me the option for a connection selection, and for it to pay attention to the parameters I set. That’s all I want!
I don’t think $40 is horseshit for the Ultimate disc. I just want the option of sticking with a version of vanilla that isn’t goddamn horrifying in those regards. I think if they had said (and I know this costs them money, but they should fix it. They Should) we’re patching these really egregious flaws in the meantime, that people wouldn’t be so upset. Basically, “We know the netcode sucks in regular, and we’ve built a whole new system in Ultimate along with all this extra stuff, but for the people still using regular we did the best we could for you in this patch. So, please get the new one for full functionality, but we haven’t abandoned y’all that bought the original. But this’ll be the last update for it.”
I’d be so happy.
rubs face God, it’s like I’m talking to bags of sand. You idiots missed the points I made entirely.
Capcom could release it this way or they could release individual character packs at a time with a “buy them all” option for a lowered price. I’ve said this already, they could release it the way they released costumes for SSF4. Individual packs for those who only want one or two items in the set, or buy the whole set for a price lower than if you were to buy them all individually. This pleases both the tournament organizers who want to buy them all and the guys like me who don’t want to pay more for characters they don’t want. For some reason the fact that some people own a console exclusively for themselves seems to fly right over your heads. Unless you’re forced to buy them all because of a title overhaul (like the transition from SF4 to SSF4), which is what is happening now, there’s no reason to buy them all if you play by yourself and don’t like most of the characters.
Are you sure it’s even them? Is this how it is for most ppl?
And even if it is… you’d still be playing onl… oh forget it! *=/ I gives up
No YOU missed the point entirely you ad hominem!
My console is exclusively for me, but when I play FGs I play with friends! Isn’t that how most people do it? That’s how everybody I know does it!
You failed to acknowledge that, for people that play FGs with other people, DLC is a problem, tournament or no tournament. Most people play FGs with other people, unless it’s practice mode.
I’ve had this problem with every DLC character. So have my friends. So have most of the people on this forum. For this reason, the vast majority of the people you’re talking to would rather have a disc. EVEN ALLOWING THE OPTION to not buy all characters causes problems.
And if that doesn’t somehow sink in… you’re ad hominem and I give up. throws up hands and walks away
I’m sure it’s them. SF4 and any other games work as close to perfect as is reasonable to ask from online.
I know it’s not the preferred method of play, but it’s my method of play, dagnabbit!
And some other folks I know run into the same problems.
Good for you. This is anecdotal as fuck and doesn’t prove anything. “I do it this way so that means that’s the way it’s done EVERYWHERE without question!”
Put the straw man away sir! lights it on fire
I’m pretty sure that’s how most people play FGs. >=P
And you simply don’t care that for most other people, DLC characters cause the kind of problems I’m talking about.
Do you even know what a strawman is? Or are you just throwing terms like “strawman” and “ad hominem” around to try and sound smart? Given your flimsy arguments I’m fully inclined to believe the latter.
You don’t even bother to explain the “problems” that DLC characters cause, so I deduce this as meaning that certain players aren’t connected to the internet for whatever reason, which is a problem. So? Give them a disc with the complete version of the game like Arcade Edition. They’re in the rare position of having to buy all or nothing because they don’t live in the modern age apparently. This isn’t difficult.
I’m “quite retarded” and you look, and play, like you go to tournaments riding the short bus:
Yeah I could see why you’d prefer a greasy fatty cheeseburger to sushi
Pft, OF COURSE I know what a straw man is! Don’t they teach logical fallacies in gradeschool? (oops, they don’t; WELL THEY SHOULD!)
Since evidence suggests that you don’t know:
From wiki: “A straw man is a component of an argument and is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent’s position.”
I said “most people” play with other people.
Here’s a very recent example of a strawman fallacy in use that we both have access too! AMAZING!
EXAMPLE:
I made the claim that “most people” that play FGs play with other people.
You said, that I said, “all people play like I do all the time no matter what” or something to that regard.
What is it that you did? You… oh… misrepresented my position! That’s right!
What’s the logical fallacy for that called again? CORRECT! It’s called a straw man! YOU WIN!
And… HEY! No fair calling MY argument flimsy after YOU misrepresent it! Oh wait… that’s what strawman arguments try to do huh? Yes… You are guilty sir! And now your straw man is on fire!
For the second part of your post:
You must have missed the post where I explained that, if people are given the option to only buy certain characters, some people will not buy all of them. Some of those people will certainly invite friends over to play with them, forgetting that some of the friends they are inviting play those DLC characters.
Please don’t be angry
=) <---- you can’t stay mad at that smile, right?
I’m not saying I agree with what Capcom is doing. In fact, I would have loved it if they could have done the whole schpeel they did with AE, where new players could buy the whole game and old players could just download the update for a very reduced cost. The “individual characters with pack deal option” thing on top of that would be even better for me, since I feel the same way as you about not wanting all the characters. Unfortunately, due to the amount of changes in Ultimate (Namely Air X-Factor and the removal of the DHC glitch, among others) they can’t do anything with all that work aside from release it on a new disk. It’s genius. Hell, it’s downright dia-fucking-bolical if you ask me.
But, arguing that they should be doing that is 2 things:
Derp.
Actually, it’s way other way around. Just Sayin’
