Yes. 8 -more- stages, 12 -more- characters, and much -more-. Worth the $40.
>implying capcom isn’t a greedy company
>implying you won’t deal with it anyway because you like fighting games too much
Dark Souls in the same phrase as those games? Ha.
It’s not X-men vs Street Fighter 3 now is it.
Also on topic, don’t like it don’t buy it. It’s not an “excuse” it’s what you should do. Buying the game gives Capcom is exact opposite reaction to you buying it and complaining. They have your money, they don’t and won’t care about your complaining.
From the sounds of it you don’t like RPGs or competitive shooters. Either way Tekken Tag 2 is coming out this August also. Bioshock is a fun game and all but tends to be rather short, I’ll probably just rent it twice.
^
If those stages and new characters are so good why not just make it a separate game without the old stages and characters?
You can still go back and play those games though. With their rich single player modes and all. MvC3 vanilla has NO single player mode, and whos gonna be online to play it with? The original is OBSOLETE. a peice of OBSOLETE game you JUST spent $70 on. God of war 3 didnt make God of war 2 obsolete. Thats the difference. Marvel 3 didnt make marvel 2 obsolete, but UMvC3 make vanilla MvC3 obsolete.
So much hate
MvC3 was $60 unless you bought the CE which included a voucher for Jill/Shuma, so you either got ripped off or forgot how much a new game cost.
I bought Blazblue so I bought 12 characters for $60, I have no problem paying $40 for a game I enjoy getting 12 new characters, 8 new stages and improvements in other areas.
I spent $60 on this game and spent more time on it than other games I spent $60 for.
MvC3 was more game than SF4. People forgot SF4 only had 2 person lobbies and no spectator mode?
The sales SF4 made was put toward making SSF4.
MvC3 sales was put toward making UMvC3.
Products aren’t made on wishes and dreams, they require time and money. People keep saying it should’ve been up there with SSF4 but SSF4 used the success of SF4 to be made how it was, just like UMvC3 is using the success of MvC3. It isn’t as easy as copying and pasting SSF4 features into MvC3, you need resources (like time and budget) to develop them for MvC3.
I guess not everyone is aware or tries to be aware of the process and just want the product, then complain about it like they know exactly how it went down.
Instead of bitching what MvC3 was missing or lacking, you should be happy and thankful MvC3 even happened. I’m excited they kept working on the game after release and are bragging about the overhauled online and spectator mode and all the stuff they added. I’m happy it’s only $40. I’m sure I’m not in the minority here either.
None of the pro capcom folks gonna comment on the idea of putting an unfinished game out for full price while a finished game costs half? Why not make Capcom fighters $40 day 1 with updates for however much $ since they know ( and they do know ) theyre gonna be putting out new versions.
I don’t know which of these 2 things I find more amusing.
That was made possible after the success of S4, youre right, but after that initial success, they knew this was what they were gonna continue to do. So why put out an unfinished game for full price in the first place? Shouldnt the unfinished version be the one with the cheaper price? Its just dirty business. The complete package game shouldnt end up costing more than $80 if you ask me, and certainly not over a hundred dollars.
What about people who buy oblivion with hundreds of hours of gameplay for a set price? Bang, there you go. They get more out of that than I do with a fighting game.
Then maybe you should stop playing fighting games then…
Sales of the Vanilla version support the creation of Chocolate version. Why does it matter which version gets a reduced price if you’re buying both? You certainty don’t expect people to not go “what the hell?” if the Chcolate version is $20 more would you?
If you’re mad your MvC3 version is going to collect dust, trade it in and get $20 bucks towards UMvC3. I actually like to hold on to instead of trading them in just because I like having a lot of games in my possession.
Those NFL and COD games come out every year and barely changes. so yeah im buying UMVC
OP, do you plan on taking the game to a competitive level? because pretty much we tournament players only need the characters, balance changes, and training mode. that’s it. everything else is just there to make it feel complete. UMvC3 is a godsend and for $40 it’s a steal. I don’t know why you’re getting so worked up over a game you think is a scam when you’re buying it.
maybe then $40 for the day 1 version and $40 for the updated version a year later? So it turns out to be FAIR for us and them ?
That game had 12 characters, not ABC Launch ABCD OTG Hyper #39-50.
Exactly, i think its a scam because as someone who dabbles in competitive play and wants to take it more serious, I have to buy it. It is a scam. I have to buy it if I wanna get any worth out of vanilla from here on out. ( what ive learned playing it )
Because the money the $60 version made allows them to sell the next version at a reduced price of $40. They made such a solid profit with the initial version that they were able to make all the changes they needed and would still turn a profit selling it at $40 if they reach their expected sales.
I really don’t have a problem with UMv3’s price tag. I’m an old school fighting game fan, and I’m used to buying updates to fighting games at full retail price (ex. SF2-SF2SCE-SF2HF, etc), so the fact that it’s only $40 is an improvement from the old norm. Not to say that that makes it right, but as long as I feal that I’m geting value for my purchase, it’s all good.
HOWEVER…
This thing where you pay for DLC that already on the disk is really getting on my nerves. It’s something Capcom is guilty of with the Jill/Shuma DLC, and many other companies are doing it. Call me crazy, but when you buy a piece of software, you should be able to use everything on the disk. We shouldn’t have to pay extra to use something already on the disk.
Companies now are purposely withholding content creating during their dev cycle just to get that extra DLC money.
And then you have ONLINE PASSES, which is total bullshit. Companies spout off how it protects them from the evils of the secondary market, despite the fact that primary market companies in thousands of other markets do just fine without gaining not on cent from on the secondary market.
Its a steal for people who didnt shell out $70 on version 1. For us, its kinda a rip.
Don’t forget Forza 4 in September, and Assassins Creed: Revelation launching the same day as UMvC3…my wallet is gonna have a hole in it x_x
Anyway I bought MvC3, I enjoyed it for what it was, a crossover of fighters. It seems you play alone(?), try with people you know, it makes the game that much funner.
PS: This game launches nine(9) Months after the previous title at a $40 price tag, like previous posters have stated, COD and Madden games follow the near same trend and barely change much and they smack on that smoking hot $65.34(ish) price tag. Stop getting so worked up just because you want to join the whine wagon that is roaming around.
