Would you like it if if Marvel went back to being a 1v1 fighter?

1v1 does limit some of the “broken” aspects that people enjoy about Marvel but I really think 1v1 could make for a very fun title. We kind of need a zany 1v1 fighting game. I feel like the overall speed of fighting games has slowed down which sort of sucks. I really enjoyed the agility of Melee, the constant movement of 3S, and the confusion that is Melty Blood. The fastest 1v1’s on the table right now for 2-d fights is probably KOF…
We need another 1v1 that’s focus is picking your opponent apart chips at a time… Because one touch = half or a whole character gone just doesn’t fit right with me…

I would just to shake things up a bit, would be pretty fun to have something like MSH or COTA again

I think this is why I loved Guilty Gear and hated MvC2. If they’re going to make it zany, I can live with that. The assists and character swap combos (yeah fuck all of that lingo) just made the game feel more like watching a movie. It was kind of fun on Dreamcast to rack up points and unlock all of the characters, just to see how they played and what moves they could do, but actually playing the game against friends got old really fast. We would play like two rounds and then go back to SF3 or go to the arcade and play KoF, since that was the popular game where I lived.

So someone brought up Skullgirls…
But what about KoF style? Choice between 1v1 or 3v3… That sounds like fun, adding a little variety.

A 1v1 Marvel would have to be based on MSHvsSF for it not to be a broken kusoge.

So Wolverine and Omega Red could be assholes all day? I’m just being a dick. I agree with you.

Wolverine Berserker Charge cr. HP re-dizzy infinites are legit yo.

man FUCK MSH. niggas love to love that game, but have you actually PLAYED it? No pushblock!

It’s all fun n game until spiderman launches you.

I think a lack of pushblock is a rather bad reason to hate a game.

I love Marvel Super Heroes, which is essentially a 1 on 1 Marvel. X-Men Vs Street Fighter I also enjoy, and while it does have tagging, there is no assists, so you essentially have to play the actual fighting like it’s a 1 on 1 game.

But no. Assists add a lot of depth to Marvel, and while it’s still fun without them, there’s no reason to take out that depth.

I’ve logged a LOT of time into MSH on GGPO. For a time, I probably played it more consistently then anyone else. And I still like it.

Push block added to the game a lot, but it’s not terrible without it. I actually like playing MSH partially because it doesn’t have push block. Makes the rushdown feel a bit more brutish, which is nice since it doesn’t have as many block mix ups compared to later installments.

Spiderman is over-rated. He’s good, yeah, but people don’t realize that launcher is super easy to wiff, and is punishable on both block and wiff.

*Wait for Spider Man to dash foward with s.mp
*Back dash
*Dash back in and punish
*launch him into infinite combo
*profit

Tbh I don’t even get the pretext of this thread
Hyperactive 1v1 fighter … uh … every “Anime fighter” ever?
Even VSav and GG sorta fit the bill.
And well, obviously you can test it out via playing 1v1 SG.

I’m personally more interested in any Versus game going back to 2v2 with four player support. I’m not sure how popular four player matches are at tournaments in TTT2 or MK9 but it’s something that I enjoy playing.

Except in this case, we’d get something more broken than HnK.

Actually, if you think about it, if it were 1v1 only, SG would be pretty broken.

1v1 Marvel would kinda be like Melty Blood I think. Melty Blood with assists might be fun now that I think about it.

you could just hop on ggpo and play MvC1 or any previous vs game
