Would skullgirls do better if

I’m sorry I suppose you don’t understand the English language. Let me break it down for you. The game is called SkullGIRLS. Implying that the game is to only have women in the cast. Which in turn means that men were NEVER intended to be part of the character line up at the time of launch. So how can the game have gender issues if only one gender was intended to be included as playable? Now I understand that the game goes about it in a more extreme fashion, but SG IMO does the opposite of create gender issues. I say this because a lot of games I’ve played have what my circle of friends like to call the “vagina tax”, surely you’ve heard of it. Where most of the playable cast is male, and the cast that are women all have decreased health, lower damage output, anything that makes them inferior to the men. Games like that are the ones with gender issues (i.e. street fighter for one). SG on the other hand, only has women as playable and no men. Therefore there are no men to compare to the women which rules out gender issues because THERE IS ONLY ONE FUCKING GENDER IN THE GAME DIPSHIT. I also understand that reverge is considering the idea of including men as playable in the game but that is still to be decided.

Skullgirls would do better saleswise if it were a complete, feature-rich game.

Why is Tekken mainstream?

Capcom games have proven that features and actual completeness of a game are not related to sales

My mom would have a hard time with chun Li.

Skull girls would disgust her. It’s not something I’d push on middle school kids. If that’s something there already into so be it.

I think Ono’s demotion proves you can’t sprinkle gems on a turd and expect it to sell well.

Where are the complaints about Chun Li, Cammy, Viper, Poison, Felicia, every female in Marvel besides Roll and B.B. Hood, every MK female, virtually every Tekken female, SC females, DOA females, etc. Virtually EVERY female character in these male-dominated franchises ooze with sexuality in male-dominated rosters besides those who are depicted as children yet there’s no polarization. It’s like since they’re the token females they HAVE to be sexy to add a little “femininity” to the mix.

Furthermore, it’s even more questionable to suggest that female characters have to be covered up or not have actual womanly physical characteristics in order to be appreciated for anything more than their bodies. The main group guilty of objectifying the characters are those, like yourself, who see any sort of display of sex as the big picture and put everything else aside. The ones who designed the characters are hardly at fault, especially when the sexuality in question is as mild as in this game. Is it really that hard to believe that women can embrace their sexuality and still carry themselves in a dignified manner and command respect?

This thread is confusing aint it too early to tell Skullgirls was successful or is this about improvements to the game?

It’s a catch 22 when it comes to female designs. People hate women.

the gameplay is complete and feature rich.

you know, the part that matters when it comes to a fighting game being worth the time and price.

OP did you forget that the game has boobs all over the place? Or are boobs not mainstream anymore…:frowning:

Definitely among the most popular fighting games. I know tons of people who don’t even play fighters who get hyped for the new Tekken games.

Its more accessible and easy to learn that most games – yet still retains a very tight, solid, and challenging meta game.

I don’t think its so much that – I think that gamers in general have been conditioned to favor characters they can relate themselves to, and the chiefly targeted demographic is the young Caucasian male who dreams of growing up into the bad ass.

I made that point in another topic and someone posted an image of maybe 12-15 generic heroes from games who all looked almost identical to each other.

People just favor characters they can relate/aspire to, and since female games are still low in the numbers on the demographic scale – male characters are what a lot of games instinctively look for.

No, no no.
We love women.
We just admire them from a distance

Well seriously, capcom can coast on Name recognition, which is a hundfred times more important than game quality (also their features/completeness are pretty bad, when you get down to it).

Because it’s established. People have been playing it forever and buying it forever. Funnily though, even though it outsells just about any fighting game you can name, it’s still small potatoes compared to real mainstream games.

With the art, you’ve gotta consider, they were making the game for themselves all along. They’ve (or at least Mikez has) been clear about that all from the start.

Whether you decide it shows how strong their vision and resolve are, or that they just really really needed a producer, that’s in the eye of the beholder.

Don’t get baited into arguing with xesaie, Ilthuian will show up out of nowhere and then you’re getting ganged up about how only sales matter and how Joey Donuts only cares about how many features and characters are in the game, not the quality of the product and that Joey Donuts outnumber us and it’s more important that he’s satisfied than anyone else.

Are we talking about Tekken or Pokeman?

Yeah, I had to think twice about it because one of my girl’s students is getting heavy into art and reading a lot of Shonen Jump. So for half a second I was gonna be like “check out skullgirls” because regardless of the titties, the overall designs are very nice. The world is pretty and I am enjoying the stylistics a lot. But while I know they are mature enough to handle it, me suggesting it could have potentially come back to haunt us. Real shame considering how good the game is.

This thread is a total trainwreck.
Please continue. I could use the laughs

Show her screenshots of it. Pictures lack the ability to bounce and jiggle if it worries you that much.

This passive-aggressive ‘don’t talk to him’ stuff only makes it worse you know :stuck_out_tongue:

Pogs.
