Are people still making this weak argument in this thread. The holier than thou, “I did it, and so I think everyone else should do it too…” high horse. (Rolls eyes)
Okay, lets see you try and return a Federer serve, fail miserably, try and think about why you couldn’t, watch some film, and fix the issue.
Wrong, you will get aced every single time, and wouldn’t be able to learn a thing.
I guess you are too retarded to even play something like Tennis anyway, or any other sport for that matter…
Are you seriously trying to tell me, that because Ranked doesn’t specifically state “equal skill” that this is how a ranked system is suppose to work?
If that was the case, there would just be an online match option, instead of Ranked and Casual.
The arcade match making system in which people walk up is an archaic system. It’s like saying, “hey we used to live under caves and hay roofs, it works great, you don’t need your fancy asphalt roofs, stop complaining.” A good ranked match making system in modern online gaming is expected now. /facepalm that you actually made that argument.
It’s not so much “I did it so everyone else should too” as it is “This actually works out a lot better than your emo inferiority complex is making it out to be, and you need to stop being a faggot”. People did just fine – and even had tons of fun – in an environment where getting blown up as a new player was a statistical inevitability. So stop being a faggot.
As someone else pointed out, no one is getting regularly matched up with Gold League while in Bronze, which is the equivalent of that histrionic tennis analogy. It’s more like running up against Silver at best, then coming here to whine about how matchmaking isn’t putting you up against people who mash just like you in a 50/50 of random dumb shit.
I think the true noticeable skill gap is silver and above
I rarely lose to bronze and when I do they are usually ultra bronze on the verge of breaking into silver now
I’ve had bad days where I went on a losing streak from 2200 to 1400 but regain focus and get back to silver quickly within the same day if not within the hour
Breaking into silver is a breeze but After that you really can’t fuck around if you want to level up
In the aggregate though it still comes down to winning more than you lose. Anything else, in any level of ranked, would mean that you could push the ranks merely by grinding. Again, I could understand if the matchmaking were truly screwed and serving up Gold and above to Bronze, but that’s not really the case. And I don’t see much mismatch with Silver either. It sounds like @avengaar might be running into something like that, and with the way Capcom fucked up even simple things like Battle Lounge searches I wouldn’t rule it out. That kind of sucks, but at the same time I’m personally not seeing it, and in any case I’d take Gold or ultra Silver peeps stomping me over SF4 mashing EXDP random Tatsu scrubs losing pathetically any day.
What seems to be the issue is a few whiny millennials doing their usual thing of belligerently whining that things aren’t being served to them in a sippy cup. This Todd faggot, for example, [gets a stick with Sanwa parts then still whines about how he can’t execute anything](Is it possible for a fight stick to lag? So between that and his other topics, he’s either the new sleeper scrublord of the entire world or he’s trolling. No idea what the rest of these fools are going on about though.
Yeah this is exactly my point too. I do get a fair amount of even matches but what is the point of randomly putting players against super high and super lower ranked players. You should see the amount of bronze players Art plays on stream. He plays like 50% players under 2k.
@MyNameIsTodd Tennis is good example for me (as a tennis player) on why it’s near pointless to have somewhat random match making too. I can go play against a beginner and double bagel them and tell them they need to work on keeping their rally balls deeper but if they can’t even grasp correct form or mechanics of the game neither of us are getting much productive out of playing. The same thing in SF5 where I can play snake eyez on ladder and he can tell me I need to be more careful of using st.mk in neutral or something but I can’t even grasp the concept of why or when I should be pushing it. There’s so many levels of disconnect between a high end player and a lower end player that neither are going to really accomplish much if ladder puts them together.
putting you against higher ranks is actually good as long as it isn’t every other match
say you are super bronze
if you are constantly beating people in super bronze, matching you up against silver/super silver/ultra silver once in a while will test your skill and if you are on par then it will give you the correct amount of points to bring you up to speed
if you lose then you lose less then normal and you gain more than you lost back in the next match against the even rank
vice versa if you have high points then you should have no problem defending your title to a lower rank
if that low rank beats you then he clearly deserved the boost to get him up to speed
I am silver and I beat bronzes 90% of the time. When I do lose, it’s to a good player that most likely belongs in my rank or even higher so my lost gave him a boost to be where he needs to.
If anything, I think the perfect system would pit players against players 1 or 2 ranks above them at all times so you can learn and progress
If you aren’t okay with playing players above you or better than you, then you should probably just find someone of equal skill in battle lounge and duke it out
this is a competitive fighting game
the ladder should be harder and more competitive as you climb
it’s always been this way
I know that. I’m not upset at all with the small differences. My post is talking about the large ones. What I’m annoyed with is how the system once in a while goes for the longshot and puts you up against someone no where near your league. Just take those matches out. Why is Art ever playing a bronze player? I think most people have heard about the single time he lost to one and lost 241 points and normally gains a single point for the hundreds and hundreds he beats.
Or the ~550 lp player I played while at ~2300. I know its not every match but the range where it looks for players is to big.
I don’t understand why it’s so slow either. Why can I find a starcraft 2 game in a minute no matter what rank and they are always close in MMR when it takes SF5 3 minutes to put you against a seemingly randomly ranked person.
You can learn from ranked matches? A single game? I thought battle lounge would be best for that…
Oh, and playing someone a bit better than you will help you learn, but playing someone worlds apart from you won’t help shit.
If your overall skill level is 4 out of ten, you’ll grasp things quicker playing a 5 or 6 than playing someone who’s a 9 or 10. As your skill increases, you step up your competition. I thought this was common knowledge?
