Worst Video Game you've ever played, shit we wished we could forget

I’m surprised no one mentioned this yet:

Easily the worse game I’ve ever played. I almost couldn’t believe this was an official X-Men game.

^ Hearing that “eeek” sound of Cyclops’ beam constantly would piss me off to no end.

Now THAT sure is one of the worst games ever made, I think the real question is why did you bother to play a game called Shadow the Hedgehog?

Hahaha, I think I actually finished that game, at the time I liked it, I was an idiot

.
Every time i remember that game i feel embarassed lol.

Remember music is da weapon!!

ugh…

It’s funny, because when they’re shot they have the same pose as if they’re jumping in. What a wait to cut corners,

I used to really like Sonic, and Shadow was my favorite character. I got it for Christmas, put it in as soon as I got up, and the game was ASS. I was so disappointed. I wanted to like that game so bad but it was so ass. Bad memories. I feel bad that I made my parents even pay 50$ for that game.

It’s okay though because I just went and played my new nintendo DS games and forgot StH ever existed.

Getbackers ps2. played it for 45 min…then never ever touched it ever again.
worst thing wasn’t that i paid for it, but that i EMS shipped it overnight from japan.

I haven’t played many video games, but the worst by far was the PS2 port of Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters.

It was my favorite series ever until this game.

Just like Sonic 2006, that game was close to unplayable due to all the bugs it had on the PS2 version.

I remember opening doors could lead to random deaths in the game, I never understood that.

heh, I wanted to try out Carrier back then, but there were so many other games that had my interest. I also rented Rival Turf on SNES one time… I remember there was a guy in that game that looked suspiciously like M. Bison.

NES – Destination Earthstar is one contender: .
I got that for Christmas one time… it was a space/shooter game… I barely remember anything about it other than it being incredibly boring. Then there’s (get ready for blasphemy) Dragon Warrior. I got that bullshit free from Nintendo Power for some reason, and I honestly thought the game was a joke at first. Yeah, it was my first time playing an RPG. The music was the only thing I liked about the game. Since that was my first experience with an RPG of any kind, I was naturally wondering what the hell was up with me getting menu screens about what to do in a battle situation, instead of actually showing me the battle…all they show ya is a picture of the enemy with the “enemy encounter” theme playing in the background. The only animation was the enemy flashing red or something when they were supposedly getting hit by you…get the hell outta here with that. Even back then I was laughing at that shit like “you cannot be serious with this.” This was the start of my long-standing hatred of what typically comes to mind when you think of the genre-term “traditional RPG” or “JRPG”. It could have the greatest graphics, characters, music and story…but if it plays like that then I will forever hate it now and forever. It is literally impossible for such a game to ever be something I’d like to buy and play.

yeah, this might make more sense going system by system…
On GBA there was Megaman Battle-Network. I was randomly in the mood to buy something that day, and I bought that on a whim. Normally, I do some research before just outright buying a game, but I also figured “hey…can’t go wrong with a portable Megaman game!”. Well, that was definitely wrong. I was accustomed to the old style Megaman games… so of course I was like “WHAT is this shit?!” when getting into the gameplay of a “Battle Network” game. I took it back immediately. Basically, it’s too “board-game” to me… I want real action in a game, where my character can freely run and jump around anywhere, with battle situations that look somewhat like a natural thing…
Battle Network plays like this…

Halo 3.

God, what happened? I LOVED HALO 1. I still have Halo one somewhere in my house. Halo 2 was even more awesome. When I heard Halo 3 was coming, I could not wait for it to come out…I sold it back to my Gamestop within a month. Halo 3 sucked for me, and after that…the series just started going downhill.

Maybe they’ll make a comeback with Halo 4, but don’t expect me to hold my breath over it.

The biggest FU by the designers (among many, such as the random moves you are given by the battle system) is that the game works 100% the exact opposite way the instructions say it does… You are told to gather enemies together and fight them together to get ‘more’ experience, when in actuality if you do that, not only you get both less experience and items than you would if you fought them alone, but there is a secret ‘threat’ meter which goes up when you do this which makes the game harder. I remember reading that an optional boss in the game can become unbeatable because of this… Great design.

Not to mention how you get a massive amount of characters, but you can’t use 90% of them at all for anything, because of the ‘leader’ system, and maybe 2 or so are actually in any way better than the guys you start with.

I feel sorry for people that kept playing Final Fantasy after playing FFX-2 and FF12

beyond the beyond
ffxi
ffxii
SF4

these games should be prison sentences

it sounds like you played the 360 version like i did… that game had so many problems. i had to restart it after about 15-20 hours of gameplay because they failed to explain the leveling system. AKA how the enemies level up as you do, but that when you level up off weak monsters you get like 0 stat boosts for the level and all your enemies stats go up by level in a static way based on just their numeric level. to actually play the game you had to go through a ton of the story as low level as possible (not that it’s hard since everything else is low level too) and then grind in the dlc dungeon…

but then you get to the 360 versions BIGGEST problem, the console couldn’t handle all those models so each fight against normal dudes was like a 5-10 minute ordeal no matter how weak they were and then bosses were at LEAST 30 minute fights if not much longer.

however, all that being said i would say that if you enjoyed ANY parts of that game that you should try to find it for sale on steam, the pc version is much better, first off they added a speed up button to the combat so easy fights are like 1 or 2 minutes tops and boss fights that took me 30 minutes on 360 last around 5. above and beyond that there is no plebian normal dudes, all party slots are leader slots and this makes the game MUCH MUCH more fun and enjoyable because you can use the bajillion unique characters that are in it.

edit: hey now… don’t hate on ffxi… i’m still caught in that addiction lol

as for ffiv a game so bad that they had to let everyone play it for free for years and remake the game to re-release it as 2.0 god what a tragedy

Deadly Premonition.

Tried very hard to like it, wanted to give it a chance since it appealed to hardcore gamers. It lacked way too much polish, I couldn’t do it. I’m willing to overlook that with games like Alpha Protocol, for example, but here the lack of polish was too significant.

SF4.

Not the worst game or anything, just leaves a bad taste in my mouth when I compare it to how much I loved ST, 3S, the Alpha’s, and so forth.

The only game that has a fucking dinosaur that has asthma. Fucking boring as shit, you might as well watch Doctor Phil, while listing to classical music

Eternal Ring. That game was total ass.
