I feel you on that…people are bandwagoners…they like shit because others like it or play it because others are playing it…I am so against that…
If I feel its the best game I’m gonna be able to explain why…not just because everyone else is saying it is… (I personally like 98, though I’m gonna forget about 98 with UM, but I was just commenting on what you were saying)
I always give reasons why I say/do things because like to do the bandwagon thing a lot. I hate when people just say something is the best just because of over-saturation in said product. Kinda like rap and Lil Wayne right now.
I play Plasma Sword like a motherfucker too!!
amen bro, thats why i stoped playing sf3, i dont like how the people belive that this game is the “final” fighting game and ignore other games that are much better than this one
Thats how its like where I live…like I say I used to like 3s…but people treating it like its the only game out there made it die pretty quick and it wore thin to me…
IMO you dont play a game for the competition…you play it BECAUSE YOU LIKE IT…if you are playing for the competition then you will never be good at it…but if you do it because you like it** you will be good at it**…
Geeze, what I don’t get is why folks who hate 3S have such strong feelings about the game. I don’t care much for CvS2 or MvC2 but I’m not all passionate about hating either game. I don’t want to interrupt folks hating on the game, I just think its silly that players get all militant about that game. Lol, when did 3S become such a “controversial” game?
I never really liked that game at all, really. I liked Alex, but that was about it.
That game made me hate SF for a long time, still kinda do.
Too many people bash other games and say this one is the end-all be-all for fighters. MvC2 players have that problem sometimes too but at least that game has some fun left in it.
And Plasma Sword is kinda like Project Justice but you need to know how to play characters and not memorize combo strings. And counters are not FREE.
I like Plasma Sword (I’m disappointed the series ended) but I always considered PS to be too simplistic and full of easy spam/bs systems. I never played it competitively or seen high level play for it, so I could be wrong.
That’s a real clever answer. It’s about as clever as me hating on cats because they’re not dogs. 3S is a different type of SF, just like ST is different from CvS2 or MvC2. If you don’t like chocolate ice cream, quit bitching that its chocolate.
HURF DURF I GUESSED RIGHT LOOKS LIKE I GET TO LAND A FREE SUPER etc
“it’s different” “different gameplay” “new playing style” blah blah blah if i had a nickel for every time someone tried to defend the game under that guise then i’d be a billionaire
When someone brings up SF in a conversation with someone who doesn’t really play fighting games, that person usually thinks about Ryu or Ken. After that, it’s usually them shooting a fireball. What is this fireball supposed to do? It’s SUPPOSED to give Ryu/Ken long range options that other characters would have to find a way around without getting creamed by a uppercut.
Now,since SF3, all you have to do is press forward to nullify that option and make it non-existent in this game, making them more predictable in the long run and making fireballs USELESS.
Why are they here, really?
Up close fighting becomes even more stale because you only get two options:Poke or Throw. Throwing isn’t that dangerous but can get predictable after a while but POKING can get you killed with the slightest tap of forward or down. Parrying is a free pass to big damage off a mistimed jab or short.
Which leads to my next gripe, the damage ratio of some of the super arts. C.mk xx SA 2 with Chun…yeah…that’s great. I died just because my jab was parried…
Yeah I never really cared for 3S; when SF3 first came out I was kinda into it considering it was a brand new Street Fighter, but that parrying shit gets on my nerves for real. Why the hell would I press forward at the right time knowing damn well I’ma get hit if its not done just right? And then trying to get some fancy combo out after doing that parry crap? Come on! whether on the D-pad or arcade stick I ain’t trying to do that…hand me Alpha 2 and I’m good (I wish they put dashing in that game though lol)
And anyway I just always liked the SNK fighters better overall anyway; when I got dead tired of playing all those damn Capcom fighters and got into KOF…thats a whole different story altogether:lol:
I mean let’s talk realistic here. There is no way that SNK is going to limit those sprites just for the King of Fighters games. Though of course they have to make sure
I see what you mean too. I never really care about what any community thinks. Though I never insult others or force my opinions on them if asked I always state that I feel that Guilty Gear is the best fighting game series (compared to all the others that I have played) or that I think that Super Turbo is ridiculously outdated. I just browser around and play what I like.
Same thing with other mediums to like movies. I’m surprised to what people often think as “classic”.
I guess for some odd reason people think you can only play one fighting game on a regular basis to be on a “competitive level”. Oddly enough many of the looked up pros don’t follow this.
It’s just the current “in” fighter right now. Basically it’s the game that you MUST play if you are into fighting games and people who don’t think it’s all that just get sick of it.
I mean a fair share amount of Third Strike fans treat the game like a God. Though personally I don’t see them any worse then Marvel or Super Turbo fans. It’s just that since the game is so popular there are so many Third Strike fans.
If you seriously can’t understand something as simple as “you can’t compare that game A to game B because game B doesn’t put is different then game A thus doesn’t put to much emphasis on what you are comparing it to” then I don’t even know what to tell you.
There is a reason why they call them videogames you know.
And the slightest mistap of forward or down can get you killed by poke into super. Great players don’t just randomly throw out parries.
Don’t want to get parried? Have a more complex offense and apply some mindgames. Seems too many players nowadays want things handed to them without putting any effort. I’m sorry but the same move x 10 isn’t going to work in 3S as easily as it works in other games because 3S is deeper than that. 3S is a game requiring great self awareness of one’s actions, unlike many other games which do not emphasize on this as much.
That’s where practice and experience comes into play.
Why should it even come to this option this OFTEN if I’m playing a character that was SUPPOSED to have zoning properties? By your logic, Ryu shouldn’t exist in this game.
Capcom should have just made a boxing game instead.
i think that the problem with 3s is not the game perse, is mostly the people who play it, they put the game in a pedesta as if the game was so great, the parry system is not so great imo, as someone posted before all the concept of zoning is screwed because the parry system, the idea is quite good but is bad implemented, i feel that the best parry system until now is the one in akatsuki, the fact that you parried doesnt mean that you are safe.
more than be aware of your moves is build your super meter and then try to conect a super art when your enemy make a mistake, seriosly, st is better game than 3s,but thats only my opinion
it takes all your exsperience on the zoning game and rape you.
as far as i see i feel that the japanese play this game more interesly that the north american ones, because they at leat try to do more interesting the matches
still i play 3s when i feel to, but i prefer other games with more depth in mechanis like GG and HNK (even with its brokeness)
