None. Play whatever you want, but fuck 3S.
I feel like anyone who thinks SvC Chaos is SNK’s worst hasn’t really tapped the SNK keg too often. Don’t get me wrong, I love SNK. And SvC was a big-time dissapointment…But the worst SNK ever put out there? Not in my opinion. Not nearly.
I think a big-time dissapointment is a valid argument for stating that it’s the worst. Sure there are games that had terrible game play and lousy characters but they never really had expectations to meet. Most shitty games where made around the fighting game boom and where rushed pieces of crap. But SvC was made far beyond that time and had two previous games to live up to.
What I believe happened was that SNK used the contract they had with Capcom and quickly produced the game once they got back in business to start sales a.s.a.p. I think even KOF2K3 suffered the same fate while being rushed for the 2003 release date. Ever since then only a few new titles have been released by SNK. Most games they’ve been releasing since the creation of SNKPLAYMORE have been old games from the MVS years just ported over and over for newer consoles. Even some of their new titles where just modifications to earlier games. $$$$
Finally they are starting to move forward after milking most of their old games and will be producing new titles that will have to wow and amaze us if they want to repeat the process and milk anything in the future.
^^^Truth.
SvC had so many titles that are in good quality that were made years before the game had come out. Even the more recent weaker titles are still so much better than SvC.
And Lukas, I don’t know what you mean, but when I was living over there, I think I’ve seen 3rd Strike get played a lot like 5 nights total. Hell, there were nights when 3rd Strike did’nt even get played, AT ALL! I think you’re over exaggerating how much 3S get’s played over there. Especially when the Marvel scene is sooo much stronger compared to 3rd Strike. (IMO anyways) But I’m still trying to understand why the game being played so much makes it the worst. I understand you get tired of it really easily, but means you enjoyed it for a while. Would’nt that mean that if you got that much exposure to some SNK games, they would start being the worst?
Considering there’d be no fighting game genre without that game…I’d say it’s got no right being on a ‘worst capcom games’ list.
Man, Alpha 1 was fun as hell, I don’t know why peeps are raggin on it.

Common’, man. There was a fight game scene before Capcom came along.
Many of which had controlled equally well as SF1.
Pulling off a fireball or SRK in SF1 is darn near impossible.
Pneumatic buttons were always having to be replaced because of people pounding on the CP.
But the 6-button layout didn’t exactly help the game a whole lot.
I say SF1 does belong on the list.
Don’t let the nostalgia of 2 cloud you on judging one.
Even if there hadn’t have been a Street Fighter, or Street Fighter II, someone would have made advancements to the genre.
Not to mention the handful released between SF1 and World Warrior.

wow, you really revived the nostalgia bringing this old games :wgrin:, i remember some of them
o rly? Karate Champ says hello.
Hey, it only took 3 tries. ST took 6 or 7 before they got it right.
Worst capcom game: Dinosaurs and Cadillacs or whatever the hell it was
SNK: I don’t even know… SvC was pretty damn retarded tho.
I’ve heard that Street Fighter I was pretty horrible. I mean from the sounds of it it was practically impossible to pull off combos.
I think it’s due to 4 reasons:
#1 Because it’s the current “in” fighter.
#2 Because it doesn’t really…how should I say this? …“Feel” “Capcom-Like” compared to other fighting games made by Capcom.
#3 Street Fighter II Fans + Street Fighter III Fans = Rivalry
Here’s a shorter answer:
“Hi I play Game X and I played Third Strike and I dislike how it plays. However I am so pist off that Third Strike is the game with the spotlight in the community and not Game X. So I can either A. Going to shit all over the game and say that it sucks so I can feel better. Game X for life! B. Who fucking cares it’s just a game I’ll just keep playing Game X and just let people who enjoy Third Strike enjoy it.”
Though personally you can nit-pick anything from any Capcom fighter to say that it’s bad - since no game is obviously perfect.
Funny thing is that a couple years ago (correct me if I’m mistaken) this game was pretty much the poster child of under-rated/over-looked fighting games. I recall many sites calling the game “the most over-looked fighting game of all-time”. Then it actually got popular and cut in some spotlight from Marvel and CVS2 and now you see the results.
No way, this game was great. And for its time, a whole lot better than say, Final Fight.
Hahahaha
SVC for SNK and SF: The Movie for Capcom
I don’t know. I couldn’t play it for more than a few minutes. The D&D games I thought were awesome though.
That’s funny, it always gets played pretty much now…can’t have a day without 3s pretty much at my house (overall its always played, and a lot of times into the wee hours of the night…I go to sleep hearing Elena’s music lol)…once or twice at least or something. Yeah I said that if someone got too much exposure to SNK games if they were a Capcom head that pretty much they would grow distaste for the game.
Also 3s to me just gives me bad memories…of the whole stupid DFW drama and about people holding their noses in the air because I dont play Capcom games and shit and thinking they were gonna beat me in Samurai Showdown Tenka because they played Capcom games and a guy named Kingdom disrespecting Mexicans saying “Mexirush” in KOF when this fool had no idea what he was talking about
(Then coming back later after I post high level vids of REAL MEXICAN PLAY IN KOF and then saying he’s always been a fan of Mexican play…what BS! ) and all that other jazz…so 3s to me just gives me bad memories…thus more of a reason I don’t like it… I associate 3s with DFW drama… I guess I am just more about variety…
I dont like limiting myself to just one game…and it feels like Dallas pretty much only plays one or two games and that’s it…
-Dark Geese
Hey… What’s that Street fighter 2030 game?
Anyways… That game only sucks because It’s not like any of the sf games…
I don’t think it’s really all that fair to judge SF I with today’s standards. Sure, looking back, SF I might have seem pretty limited, but seeing that SF I’s only competition in the day was Karate Champ…there is not a whole lot you can compare it with, can you?
That’s why I’m never harsh on the first-generation games. No one makes it on the first try. :wonder:
From a technical standpoint the game’s sprite quality and animation easily holds its own (could say surpass) towards the majority of modern fighters today. However while I found Warzard to have a brilliant idea, I found that the premise was far too rushed as it was never given time of thought (straight boss battles? WTF no build up?). Also the fighting system didn’t do justice as it wasn’t enough for what the game wanted to accomplished and wasn’t enough in terms of it’s technical attention. I mean a single player focused fighting game sounds very interesting, so much so that it could create its own sub-genre. Sadly Capcom focused with the game being a fancy tech demo then a solid innovative fighter.
This is just me though.
It’s a possibility but I think there can only be room for a certain number of Street Fighter games on the scene at once. Didn’t Alpha III get nuged due to Third Strike being the new “latest Street Fighter” (though it was half a decade late).
Somebody please fill me in because I’m just speculating this part of my post.
This is how every competitive genre is. Eventually Third Strike will take a back seat and some other game like Street Fighter IV: Four or (if by some miracle happens) King of Fighters XII takes the reign and people will complain about that game. Similar to what I’ve said before every game has its faults therefore it’s practically impossible to find a game worth of “being the head fighter” as nearly every game is worse and better then the other in some form.
Well I’m not sure if we are comparing “for it’s time” or “as of right now”.
