nut-uhhh its sf4!
Man this thread is dumb – is the OP going to get a ‘worst hits’ collection or what?
If you like a game then play it.

watch it, you might just get a dick in your ass collection.
This guy speaks truth.
This isn’t actually true. There are (literally) a couple of people in the UK that are still really into this game, but of the two cabinets in central London neither gets any play at all, and there is no tournament scene whatsoever.
Don’t get me wrong, if A3 is on at a session people will play, and an offical Neo Empire A3 tournament may get a handful of entrants, but there is no way the UK ‘still plays’ A3 in the way you suggest, or even that UK players are particularly good (i’m no Alpha player but from what I have seen in the past 6 years living in London, UK A3 isn’t any better than US play around B5 or whenever it was mad popular).
n3rd strike is second after sfa2
wtf @ 3S and A2 hate?
I don’t get the CFE hate either. The game was a huge disappointment as it was all old recycled sprites, and there was nothing NEW in it aprat from Ingrid. It didn’t feel very polished.
HOWEVER everything in it works, it’s balanced, and there is actually a lot going on at high level. Look for some high level videos and you’ll see matches like Zangief vs Hydron are suprisingly awesome to watch. Game has some great combos too.
I guess the thing is that none of Capcom’s fighting games are going to be terrible to fans of Capcom fighting games like most people on SRK. You’re looking at the least good of a typically great bunch of games.
SO either:
Star Gladiator
Slam Masters II: Ring of Destruction
Tech Romancer
Red Earth
Gem Fighters (forget the lol-look-it’s-Bison-in-a-sled!! factor, game is basic and scrubby)
now obviously some super-alternative ‘individual’ scrub will say “NO WAY, TECH ROMANCER IS AWESOME”. Well, I’m not syaing it’s (or any of those) games are terrible, I just think none of Capcom’s fighetrs have been that bad, but they are the weakest.
SFA1 is pretty shitty though
Isn’t that what Gem Fighter/Pocket Fighter was basically made for? A basic/easy combo game for the beginners and such?
Star Gladiator was hot.
and yes, I wouldn’t call Pocket Fighter a shitty game. I’d call it an introductory game.
like A groove
If the Streetfighter EX series counts, then I would probly say that.
Of the 2d, either marvel vs capcom 1 or Capcom fighting jam.
That’s Akira or Arika… something.
MvC1 was godlike.
Alpha3 hands down.
it was such an offshoot from the solid Alpha2 that’s very hard for me to diggest.
music & announcer are plain horrible, new backgrounds sucked compared to the Alpha2 designs, unnatural priorities & hitboxes that threw any familiarity with a Street Fighter game out the window, poorly designed and unbalanced ISM system, a gazillion gimmicks.
Lemme see…
SvC Chaos for SNK, as well as KOF 2k1 and 2k2.
As for Capcom…Did they make SF: the Movie: The Game? That would get my vote. Otherwise, prolly Capcom Fighting Jam.
A-Groove doesn’t even COMPARE in simplicity to Pocket Fighter’s engine, not by a longshot.
Well if anything, some characters don’t play like the version you would play them as in the game they came from (look at Urien for example, you wouldn’t play him like his usual 3S ver.)
Agreed. I personally like CFJ, it may not be one of their best, but it is a good game IMO.
Mind elaborating on these games plz? I haven’t played them much but I did’t see much messed up stuff in it.
I did see a rather insane combo vid for Slam Masters 2 with 100% damage combos though.
…but can be bizarrely entertaining
Star Gladiator had ZERO skill required, mostly because the game was pretty empty
Tech Romancer was a shitty version of Cyberbots in 3D… it was a terrible game…
Red Earth, I could only say that people don’t like a fighter with 4 selectable characters.
I thought each character was done decently. I just played Urien like in Second Impact and I never had too many problems, same with Alex. Although the lack of Hyper bomb made me want to cry out in a fit of rage.
They don’t because they are solid games. The aesthetics may not be everyone’s cup of tea and some of the characters (EX1 Kairi, Allen) are complete ripoffs but then you have Darun, Skullomania, C.Jack, and Hokuto to make up for them. They were fun games, just not as good as the Capcom games.
On-topic I always hated the way Star Gladiator felt, but I have no valid complaint about the game. I heard the second one was better.
Also, I hated Powerstone, simply because it didnt have 4-player support. Powerstone 2 is still my favorite DC game ever!
Legitimate NON-superficial complaints for CFJ:
–Hitboxes range from goofy (Hauzer), to weird (Alex), to just plain terrible (Ingrid, Leo, Hydron)
–Most SF3 and Red Earth characters just don’t FEEL right. Especially against the Alpha-sprite characters.
–Maybe it’s just me, but the inputs and movement feel a little sluggish, especially coming from CvS2
–SF2 characters feel like bare-bones CvS2 characters instead of actual SF2 characters
–Ultimate Guard is…just dumb.
–Parrying feels…janky. Obviously, you can’t expect it to feel the same as 3S…and obviously they didn’t want it to be too overpowered but…
–They could have at least put in some new moves for some characters. Or ANYTHING new besides Ingrid, for that matter…
–Speaking of which, absolutely NO bonuses or extra modes in the console version. Arcade, VS, Training and basic options, that’s it. The kind of lack of effort for a supposed NEW fighter in 2004 is pretty unacceptable.
What’s the name of that other 3D robot fighter Capcom made for the DC.
Well it felt more like a beat’em-up+RPG+2d scroller game with fighting game elements than a fighting game.
