You can actually find some really classy and professional stuff their. You just be smart, use networking, and don’t browse the main page like an idiot. Otherwise you drown to death in an onslaught of generic anime, furry comics, and other such abominations.
Anime forums.
It’s weird, for any other hobby you go to a related forum to have a good discussion about it online, with anime the only places you can have bearable conversations about it online are in forums which aren’t related to it.
From what I’ve seen of them, also trading card forums, MTG official one was infested by bronies who can’t seem to “reign” in their annoying habit of posting huge gifs of dumb pastal equestrians in any fucking thread they reply to last time I checked, and I keep seeming to stumble upon too much plain dumb shit in general on MTGsalvation to see it as anything but a cesspit.
Also shoutouts to capcom community, is there a single character that doesn’t need nerfing into the ground these days?
eatpoo was the best art message board ever, they were so fucking blunt with critiques
Back in 1999-2000 or some time around then, there was a final fantasy forum, similar to ffonline, called ffalpha. I’ve only been on a hand full of forums, and the only time I got banned was that one. The regulars seemed like a bunch of pissed off kids that the only thing they had in their lives was final fantasy games and the forum. Everyone was on a high horse and at any moment, if you didn’t suck up to them or had any difference in opinion, you’d get a domino effect of these idiots flaming you, one after another after another. And it wasn’t just me, IIRC, I was backing one guy up because of some trivial BS and when he got banned, the stupidity shifted to me. The forum didn’t even compare to ffonline’s as it was just a small elitist group with a small group of people that were either their bitches or was eventually going to be sent to the ban bus. There was a gundam mIRC room that also had the same mentality of elitist shit heads having an e-circle jerk that would always put new comers on blast if they haven’t played or seen an obscure jap gundam game, novel, what ever.
Well… from experience
Smogon, fucken grammar nazis and fucken highschoolers telling me to watch my language. Also elitist pricks way worse then srk…
Shoryuken.com, this place has gotten terrible over the years, the community here is 70% online warriors who are idiots, there are a few of you cool guys though.
Wow server sub forums, some are fucking retarded and just crybabys.
Any stoner forum gets retarded and repetitive after a while.
Bboy forums are full of eboys
And lemonparty.org was really good for a while but got kinda clicky before I left. Its worth a check out tbh.

DeviantArt is there for self-promotion. It’s YouTube for artwork. It’s really easy to develop a fanbase if you’re otherwise an unknown. All serious or professional artists have a separate portfolio site, but the sharing potential (Facebook, Twitter etc) on DA is too good to ignore. And DA has porn pix
I’m gonna be honest, SRK is the best forum i have come across EVER. GD son.
Other forums are fucking HORRIBLE. Can’t talk casually with anyone.
Constantly correcting your grammar to be a dick.
Trying to keep the forums Rated Y7.
Admins and moderaters are all my age, which means that they are terrible at descision making.
The slightest insult to the way the site is run or any of the members gets you a harsh warning.
People who say SRK is the worst are playin themselves. As bad as it is, it could be so, so , SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much worse.
Gotta say, for all the various issues I’ve had with people over the years, this is the one place I’ve been able to stick with as an active participant.
WoW raid dungeon forums around the time of Burning Crusade.
The Uberent forums are pretty bad. They’re the guys who made Monday Night Combat and Super Monday Night Combat. And I swear that the forum is composed of nothing but dick riding fanboys that spit on anyone that has the least bit of constructive criticism.
I only ever frequented Deviant Art regularly once and that was to follow a bunch of the concept artists from Privateer Press (they make a wargame called Warmachine) for pretty much the same reasons, got to see a lot of ideas before they were made and ideas that never got made. Occasionally they’d find fan art on there and like it so much they’d adopt it in some form or another as well which was a huge honour.
I peaced the fuck outta there when I found out they weren’t supporting MNC for the 360 anymore, and had no plans to bring SMNC to consoles.
I’m still salty.
What’s worse is when Ubher promised mod tools to be released for MNC and refused to release them, then released SMNC without Dedicated Servers and all of the assholes on that forum have no problem with this…
I can’t trust that dev team as far as I can throw the promotional info card on MNC I got from them at the first PAX East.
I know there’s probly circumstances that I’m unaware of, but I can’t help but see them as liars.
I have a new candidate, I never knew it but each cities craigslist has a ‘rants and raves’ section. It’s amazing because it hits on every kind of bad listed in this thread.
lmao
Before Ogrish turned into Liveleak it had some awful forums.
The Cartoon Network website has a pretty shitty “forum”, if you can call it that. The only thing users are allowed to do is post in preset threads that the mods/admins created, and they only pertain to one subject. No avatars are allowed, not even a database set AV. A plethora of words are filtered out, such as “oral”, “slope”, and “suck”. Most of the posters are there to demand Toonami’s revival (already back guys) or complain about CN’s current lineup. What the fuck, they’re better off using the WWWBoards if they wanna be that restrictive.
I go there, too… I just like drawing my characters… http://j-don-bonne.deviantart.com/
Yeah there are some obnoxious jerks there, but there are really nice people there too. And the number of nice people isn’t as abnormally thin as other message boards… like Smogon and GameFAQs…
I don’t think it’s just about not understanding MLP, though.
I’ve watched around 2-3 episodes of the show. I don’t think it’s bad. Not my cup of tea, but it’s easily the best cartoon to ever be made that specifically targets a young female demographic.
The fans, though? Holy crap, dude. The large majority of them are some of the most obnoxious people I’ve ever been exposed to. I’m sure it has a lot to do with how polarizing the series is, as the series has a lot of haters that almost are as passionate as the extreme fanatics. That persecution complex.
Regardless, even if I was a pony fan, I’d stay far away from any board dedicated to it.
