Worst matchup for Bison?

I was playin this Bison guy… and he does the same thing over… Psycho Crusher… throw… PC… scissor kick… DHK… PC… throw … wash and repeat…

It took me 3/10 matches to just get sick of this kid doing the same crap with Bison…

I am a nuub at SF2HDR… so can someone give me some strategies using Sagat/Ken/Thawk or Cammy? (the only chars I play really)

Bison’s worst matchup is definitely Honda, just sit on the other side of the screen and jab headbutt him when he tries to PC/jump. That’s probably the most basic way to do it.

All the characters you mention have a Dp (dragon punch) type move…Dp him when he is coming.Psyco Crusher is punishable if they do it while your in a corner (Grab)…

Bison don’t really have many options out the corner so stay on top of him, and go to the character specific threads to see character specific things they can do to stop Bison.

Fei long can punish a PC pretty much anywhere with fp rekkakens. Also T.Hawk destroys Bison once he knocks him down or corners him. Still easier said than done vs good Bisons.

Was his name UltraMrBison?

Gief does well against Bison if you are good with your SPD. Bison has a lot of moves that are punishable with throws. Scissor Kick, Roundhouse Slide, and Psycho Crusher can all be punished with throws if he uses them too close to you. All you need is 4 SPD’s to completely deplete his life bar, and that’s without hitting him with any other move at all. With a normal or two thrown in, 3 SPD’s and Bison is toast.

Lariats also will counter the Psycho Crusher cleanly, but they get hit low by the Scissor Kick, so watch out for that.

If your opponent spams Crushers and Scissor Kicks you just block with Hawk.

If you block a scissor kick you can usually 360 or DP him. Once he’s down, if he’s a noob you can just tick throw and repeat this to death and he’ll die quickly.

If he Pyscho Crushers all over the place just block and hit him with standing roundhouse. Depending on the distance it usually connects. You could also try to DP him out of the Crusher as well.

If this playstyle proves difficult for you, let’s assume you are not a consistent DP user.

Bison has no dangerous reversal beside super (not counting DR, hard timing to use as a reversal and wont damage you). So, if he goes straight to you without his super charge, one lockdown and it’s over for him. Jump tick throw him to death, whatever your character is.

When you block scissors, if it’s one hit, you cannot do anything. It it’s two hits, he did it too close: throw him.

When you block PC, try to be in the corner, and throw him on recovery. If not, try your longest range move as soon as he crosses you. Sweep if possible. If Zangief, SPD.

You have encountered either a scrub Bison, or an experienced one, who realized you could not cope with basic PC/scissors aggression. You cannot know. However, if you improve your game and face a good one, they will combo you to death and you won’t see any PC/scissors except for combo/punishing. Good and bad Bison playstyles are completely different.

Bison’s worst matchup is Honda (beside akuma).

So, euh, you can counter (not punish aterwards) PS with Fei’s HP rekka? Because I find it difficult to counter a PS spammer mid-screen with Fei. My flamekick is too slow on reaction (consider 100/200ms lag as well here)

No it was FKvilla or something… he played Bison over and over… I came across him again… He was still doing good against me… but not so much after …I sort of but not really… got the rhythm down 3/10 matches to 5/10… wins against him since the first time… so I increased 20%? (it was my first time on XBL when I first came across him)

I’m still having some hard time with the timing of throws cause he usually throws me while I’m attempting to throw him after a Psychocrusher. But I guess I’ll overcome that with more playtime…

Thanks for the inputs… anyone wanna get down on some SF2HDR add me… I could REALLY use the training.

i like to come in with meaties and tick throws when i knock down bison, it can be difficult for him to escape. If you can get him to jump, do move that will knock him out of the air. Not saying it is easy or anything but that is my general strategy against him. Also punish those psychocrushers.

DJ is the worst imo

A lot of Bison’s moves are punishable if he does them from the wrong range. The Scissor Kicks are safe if they barely hit you (like Cammy’s drill), and the Psycho Crusher can be tough to counter midscreen. (Block and do a long-range move; even if you miss, Bison will still be in recovery, so you’re safe.) If he gets right up next to you, though, you can usually block and punish with a DP or throw. And if he’s coming at you from far away, you can see it coming and quickly DP him out of all of his special moves.

Seconded with the DJ, you can keep him out with max outs and up kicks. Or go for cross-up shenanigans and there really isnt much he can do about it except block or try to jump away.

I’ve read this, maybe from you, and tried this. I have a 360 controller, so maybe my timing is off, but, when I try this after blocking the PC, he can pretty much block most of the time when he passes way beyond me, or I get thrown often if he lands just on the other side of me.

^ if he’s going to land right next to you after the crusher, do not go for fierce rekkas. Only use rekkas if he flies past you and you need the range of rekkas to hit him.

Guile and Deejay give me the most grief

As a Bison player I must say Honda gives me fits. For a while I thought chun li was worst but recently I have been fairing better againt chun due to studying yuuvega vids…but honda…he just…makes me sad

LMAO. I hate UltraMrBison. He nearly cried when I beat him.

I’d have to say that Honda is Bison’s worst match up, followed by DJ. Honda can turtle like no other, and DJ is just very hard to deal with in general.

Seriously though, Psycho Crusher is an extremely situational move that is very easily punished. Even if he goes through you to the other side, most characters can hit him before he lands. When I play a Bison who does this, I just block it and round house him when I get out of block stun. Then I start the knee press pressure. Seriously, Psycho crusher is easy to beat. If you’re having trouble versus Psycho Crusher spam and you’re playing anyone with a fireball…you’re doing something seriously wrong.
