Worst Fighting Game Ever

 Wow, now THAT’S a classic! Definitely aimed at horny, lonely Japanese men.

My vote? Karate Champ. Though to its credit, it’s at least one of the more “balanced” fighting games out there.

Hell, I don’t even like BlazBlue all that much, but I know for a fact that a good portion of those games you listed are far worse.

Hey, nothing wrong with that - you are entitled to your opinion. I know most people didn’t like SF: The Movie video game but I didn’t think it was (all) that bad.

I have the PSX version, and it’s far better game than the arcade, still awful, but I like it nonetheless.

Not sure if you’ve played that version, but me and a friend were playing it randomly, and I kid you not, we were mashing buttons in the character select, and the sound became garbled and muffled for a few seconds.

When the match started, his Sagat’s voice samples were switched to Sakura from Alpha, and my Ken was using Demitri VO!

Yes, there are voice samples from other games that will be triggered via some obscure bug.’

Even Primal Rage sound effects are in there, some how. My only thought on why that would be, was that a co-publisher on SF: The Movie was Activision, who also did Primal Rage.

EDIT: Seminal MS-DOS fighter, Xenophage: Alien Bloodsport.

I’m going to have to say every Mortal Kombat after 2. I tried them all and kept getting more and more disappointed. Hell, I even have great memories of Eternal Champions but not MK. Would Smackdown vs Raw games count? :razzy:

By 1984 standards Karate Champ is actually a pretty good game. I mean if it was 1984 and you wanted some head to head fighting game action it was the only game in town really. Not to mention they released an updated version in the same year that fixed the collision detection and made the AI harder. I 100% guarantee you if I locked you in an arcade with a friend and all they had was Street Smart, Pit Fighter, or Karate Champ you would chose Karate Champ. It is also probably the 2nd most important fighting game ever made after Street Fighter 2 as far as the evolution of fighting games is concerned.

It’s pretty obvious what happened. They spent obviously way too much time on graphics (I mean they had 3d cutscenes and 3d character intros all over the place back when 3d graphics were complicated and time consuming) then they ran through their budget and realized they had a piece of shit game that would take almost 2x as much effort as they already put in to finish and make decent. So one of the suits puffs a cigar, “Final version in 2 weeks!” Designer- “But it’s not even close to done we still have to add 5 characters at least and we haven’t even started on the AI yet.” Boss- "Look, I saw the game, it has robots and they fight. Release it now then you can finish it and then we can release it again and make twice the money.“
Rise of the Robots is the Big Rigs of fighting games, and unfinished pile of garbage only released to fund a mismanaged final product. If only someone had taught the Duke Nukem Forever team that trick.

Come on, worst fighting game ever? I totally understand the smash bros hate around here, and that’s because it’s not meant to be played as a competitive fighter. We have SF for that:woot:. Smash is just fun to mess around on.

Street Fighter 1 is pretty bad also. The controls were ass

It was awesome. The Vipers had an obvious advantage over the VF cast but it was still a hell of a lot of fun. And a sequel would be fuckin sweet. I heard they were working on a FV2 a long time ago but it never happened.

Karate Champ was awesome. Street Smart was terrible…Sagat…er Mr. X is the final boss in that one.

Edit…Mr. K in the Genesis version.

Towards the bottom.

Pit Fighter gets a ton of hate, but the arcade version was o.k. The best of the Atari digi-crap for sure.

Didn’t happen here…

Japan and Europe.

Garouden Break Blow fuckin blew. Just flail away at each other until one of you falls. No technique or strategy.

Pit Fighter was pretty terrible but at least it had a little bit of charm (the crowd pushing you back in to get your ass kicked and such). Street Smart is ass, I always hated that game. It was just walk up and press attack until you die then put in more money. Karate Champ was at this one arcade in North Carolina and I’d always play the shit out of it when I went there. Really I like it a lot, for a 1984 game it really captured the feel of an actual Karate fight pretty well.

Haha, I used to play lots of Pit Fighter on my Amiga back in the day

Sailor Moon S on the 3DO:

Don’t know if anyone was a fan, but I didn’t like Power Instinct:

Played this game after a friend told me how cool it was. Blood Storm:

Name that game

Don’t know if the name has been mentioned already, but as anyone played this one fighting game for the Genesis which had the main guy wore black shorts/tights and another character who was this alien/monster who had his face on his stomach and would use his tongue as an attack?

The loser would be eaten by a shark swarm around like Jaws, even though there was no water

It had TERRIBLE music also.
