god only knows what the right forum for something like this is but since there’s already doom and pokemon and stuff in here, might as well take the chance
any folks here possibly up for some of this sometime? some links to get people started if they’re interested:
some places to order WA online (it’s around $10 or 5 GBP these days): amazon, team17’s site (get the private pack at top, the armageddon order at the bottom is for the game boy version)
update patch to latest version (3.6.28.0 beta): here (changelog, includes explanations of several commands and testing features to mess around with)
some info on getting worms to work in vista: here, requires registration
guides for setting things up, using wormnet, hosting games, troubleshooting, and a rundown of popular game schemes: here
worms knowledge base: here, covers advanced tricks, technical info and 3rd-party utilities
guides on using the rope, rope tricks, roperacing and some other weapons: here, here
even more worms goodies: here, includes user-submitted settings files and maps for popular schemes
how to make a map with the newer worms versions: here
gimme a shout if you need some help, have some cool-beans goodies to share (maps, schemes, game recordings, epic youtube moments, etc.) or just want to get a game going
it’s probably around $10 in bargain bins and on team17’s site now (and it has no copy protection if you’re thinking of going the torrent route) so, some food for thought!
also if we get this going who here would be up to host games? the more the merrier, especially since hosting worms just magically stopped working for me this summer (it’s probably just a matter of deleting a config somewhere to fix it but i guess we’ll see)
if you’re using a legal cd then you may want to find a tool to create an iso of it (i used this to make an iso of DOS rayman back in the day, the trial period seems to be infinite), mount that iso then leave it mounted for whenever you want to play
time to give this thread a good kick in the pants and get it off the ER operating table, there’s gotta be at least a few people who’d still be up for this but need a kick-start getting into it so have some funderful links:

as for who plays it, so far i’m the only person i know of on SRK who does at the moment, but i’m trying to get a few other people set up soon and i’ve got some non-SRK wormers i could have joining in games with us sometime
honestly that depends on what sort of pure skill you want to see, there’s a good deal of different ways people play the game; roping around the world and back, hitting someone with a ‘nade bounce from a world away, playing it like it’s chess, setting up pimpin’ chain reactions, whatever the hell other forms of pure skill you can think of
but enough boring talk! for starters, have some pimpin’ rope vids with bits of bazooka/grenade footage mixed in a delicious blend:
interesting. never tried bazooka roping, seemed too dangerous
the roping is absolutely excellent. he has some serious grenade skill too. his shotgun and my shotgun (back when I played this a lot) were about the same
Back when I played this with one guy I knew in Worms 2, we only used bazooka, grenades (I think cluster bombs too), bungee, shotgun, and parashoot… nothing else. we could ninja rope, but never used it since we could rope pretty well. we played for so long that way that we could hit almost anything from almost anywhere. we occasionally played with sheep, banana bombs, and holy grenades. so far, I can only use those weapons and the ones similar to them. But lately I’ve been playing games that don’t use any of the weapons I’m familiar with… or if they do, only a very limited number. I’m interested in the combat side of the game
sorry for double posting, butI was just wondering. When I get on wormnet, I don’t see many players on even though this is a world-wide game. is there some server or something that has a massive amount of players?
