Which is hugely subjective and all, but I must admit I’m curious that when given the opportunity to make significant changes to characters like Cody, Gouken, Evil Ryu/Oni etc etc, why they made as minor changes as they did with Vega. As a body of Vega players, are you comfortable enough with his character that if we were polled for an opinion, our honest response would be “No, he doesn’t need anything”? Given that he’s historically(In SF4) never been a tournament winner and the current meta-game seems to hover on some of his weaker matchups, It just didn’t feel like the patch opened up too much to really fight back against the Rufus’ of the world, you know?
apparantly the only thing that came to mind was that a Vega player on the dev team was killing everyone.

This is a studio that has to my understanding, admitted to creating powerful characters with tons of favourable matchups willfully. If someone is a killer on the Dev Team though, I would love to know what they’re doing. We do have(had) Makoto, yes, but even watching his play, it’s not without holes.
I think if you seperate the trolling from the posting, what’s-his-name poses a legitimate question:
-Who is the one/are the ones representing Vega in such a way, that the developers thought he didn’t need any improvement as a character. Who do we look to as the Master and trendsetter of the Claw techniques. Who’s even still finding/looking for Vega tech against these perceived bad matchups?
You’ll forgive me if the answers to these are all really obvious to you guys. I’m new here, and it is really slow catching up on the backlog of forum info, and I thought this might be an opportunity to salvage something productive of this topic of discussion.
I say the reason for this is because if you look back on any of the other games before SFIV that Vega/Claw was in he was high or god tier in. I feel that the system this game works with and the game itself is just not the environment for this character. I play Vega because I have Character loyalty. I just feel that it came time that he was no longer high tier.
IDK who Axl is but Ten Zen is like that stubborn piece of dog shit that refuses to vacate the bottom of your shoe. It somehow covinces itself that its presence is welcomed and even wanted.
My theory is if you ignore it long enough it’ll turn grey and brittle and eventually go away. I’m eager to see if I’m right.
that was the answer seth gave when we asked him the exact same question just after AE changes came out.
I actually fought pretty hard every shot I got (capcom unity, S-Kill numerous times, Sven at Evo and E3, Ono at Evo and E3, jp dev blog, capcom japan, here) to get Vega more buffs but nada.
At this point though there’s no reason to keep it going cause there isnt going to be another update until next year at the very soonest. I doubt that’ll even take place since they are working on DarkStalkers now. (which is retarded IMO)
