Edited thread title slightly since we already have a World War Hulk thread.
WWH was awesome. Hulk kicked everybody’s ass and his fight against Iron Man was like 16 pages long! A fight between two people taking that long? In an American comic book? INSANITY! Yall crazy or don’t watch enough Dragon Ball Z, I dunno. :nunchuck:
PS: Sentry sucks. Because of Bendis. Bendis has ruined him beyond salvation… Not Pak’s fault, Thor was dead. He worked with what was available to him is all. At least Pak had Sentry do something instead of sitting around and being emo talking about how strong he is but he just can’t use all of his powers because Void will stop by oh noos… He was still emo throughout most of WWH though.
ok so wtf…Miek is like my favorite character but he kills rick jones and we discover he let people put the bomb on the ship that destroyed the world? how the hell does that even make sense?
and so what is up with the new hulk series by jeph loeb? why is he red? why does anyone let jeph loeb write comics? why do people read jeph loeb comics? I assumed that the incredible herc would change back to hulk after a time…is this not the case?
Miek is an interesting character, and the person I hate most in comics next to Iron Man.
The reason Miek put the bomb on there and exploded it was because he saw that Hulk was going to settle down and give up the war. Hulk had a big influence on Miek, showing him that might is right and what not. The peaceful life wasn’t sitting well with him.
Miek also doesn’t care that he is killing these people, since due to his upbringing he’s pretty much a Racist. Throughout Planet Hulk you can see Miek gradually becoming this dark character, who only wants death and destruction.
So in the end, it makes sense that is what he did, and it was a clever twist.
FYI has Hulk now reverted back to dumb as bricks version? I was hoping he would keep his fighting prowness and somewhat intelligence for the new Hulk run, apparently not though.
New Red Hulk plot is what Loeb does best, a “Who dun it?”.
Basically we don’t know if this new Red Hulk is (Initially) Bruce Banner. He murder Abomination and has intelligence, along with a vendetta. In the latest issue Hulk does indeed confront this new Hulk, and the battle begins next issue. My guess is it’s Talbot or his son, coming to get revenge for Betty and stuff.
Incredible Herc will never go back to Hulk, and is one of the best comics Marvel currently has.
I wouldn’t say that. Granted, Bendis is best with Daredevil, Spidey and the like, but he’s done what he’s needed to in order to make (and keep) the Sentry as a presence in the Marvel Universe. Granted, his presence from the Civil War on has been almost devoid (har har) of value, and very obviously has been throbbing with nothing but helplessness in any sort of instance where his presence could be valuable.
Now, I’m willing to give Bendis the benefit of the doubt. When Cho fucked up the timestream of New Avengers and Mighty Avengers, I thought they were planning to do something with the Sentry when they warped him, Stark and Doom back into the 60s (or whenever). Clearly, this didn’t work out, and the Avengers series both ended up in serious hurry-up mode, and that arc got compressed into a single issue. So personally, I don’t think that Bendis is necessarily to blame for the lack of development of the Sentry. A couple of times now, it has seemed like they’re going to make the Sentry into a major player, but it doesn’t pan out. In retrospect, is introducing a decisively broken character into the mainstream Marvel universe as a consistent presence a good idea? Nope. That would be like having Galactus as an ongoing enemy on earth or having Thanos in a position where he was always around, NOT kicking ass. But I dunno…I still think there’s lots of value, and plenty of potential in the character.
Actually I think the only thing Ghost Rider did was annoy the Hulk. The spirit of vengeance took over after Hulk KTFO Blaze/Ghost Rider, but it chose not to fight him since he was innocent.
Best thing was the Xmen tie ins with those funny one liners
"I can become invincible"
Hulk kicks her sky high Team Rocket style
"Be invicible in new jersy"
LOL
The X-Men getting their asses kicked is always fun. That was the highlight of Secret Wars, Spider-Man owning all of them.
Edit: I suspect the plot-twist with Miek was invented after-the-fact. Although he did turn into a dark character in Planet Hulk I don’t see how blowing up the whole planet accomplished anything.
My favorite character in Planet Hulk was hand’s down the brood thing. True story.
I’m leaning more towards Red Hulk is Betty Banner. HAH!
Miek’s plot twist was good. When you read Planet Hulk, you would see that Miek’s problem wasn’t resolved. His entire colony has been always on the bad end of the war… You’d think that he would just give in. It makes sense to what he did in World War Hulk.
X-men crossover was cool but so typical…Hulk is pissed off, fights everybody and beats the shit out of people demanding Xavier…then a beeyotch cries and he’s like “OK, enough” and takes off.
