More WHP footage no its not all…its how UHK is uploading things…

Added you to my AIM. My name on there is Rockeits.

Lots more exploration needs to be put into what is and is not techable (hold back or sometimes down back when being swept/knocked over).

For instance, Carne’s c.mp seems untechable. Most moves require you hold back, but Hanzo c.hk requires down-back. Also, j1n teched out of the last few hits of Dragons Hero Super tonight. :frowning:

And, Dragon’s high counter can be used vs air attacks. You just need to make SURE the attack hits his fist.

Yeah I use Dragons high counter as an anti air.

  1. Why did I have to fall in love with how Janne plays?

  2. This is so broken. FUN broken, but still broken.

:looney:

You havent seen the half of it Chibi…

Chibi, nice to see you interested in this! I posted a guide on setting up Kaillera earlier in this thread, and can just copy it here.:

  1. Download the latest version of MAME32 Plus! Plus!. Here are a couple links:

http://ddememame.hp.infoseek.co.jp/m...19-20070917.7z - Standard version

http://ddememame.hp.infoseek.co.jp/n...19-20070917.7z - Neo-Geo/CPS-only version, for quicker loading.

I prefer the second one for obvious reasons, but it doesn’t really matter. The only difference is the GUI, it doesn’t affect netplay.

  1. Download the latest version of the P2P Kaillera client from http://kaillera.movsq.net/ . Replace the existing kailleraclient.dll file with this one.

This client allows you to switch between normal and P2P Kaillera, and record inputs of your P2P matches without any of the issues that arise with this feature in normal Kaillera. To play the inputs, you will need to go into the client and select Playback mode below P2P.

  1. Once you download everything and set up your controls, go into File -> Kaillera Netplay to start the client, and select P2P. You can either host a game or connect to an existing one. A neat feature in the newest version is that the host can click a button to get his IP address, which the other player needs to type in the window to connect.

  2. Once you’re in the game, both players will need to check the “Ready” box. The host also has the option to record inputs, and that should be checked first if you want to do so. The game will automatically start once both players click “Ready”, and you should be good to go!

  3. The client sometimes has issues starting up - one player’s MAME will freeze or something. If this happens, both players should exit MAME completely and start everything back up. Shouldn’t take more than 1 or 2 tries to get it working, and once the game actually starts I have not experienced any further problems.

That was it for the old guide. Now that I’ve played this a bit more, I have a #6 to add:

  1. When starting a game, watch the delay setting in the P2P window! Unlike Caster, Kaillera automatically sets the delay. This is usually fine, but it could be a bit troublesome against certain people; when Keits and I play, for instance, delay 3 is good but delay 2 gives a nasty drop in framerate. Again, this should not be an issue against most people, but if it ever is, you’ll just have to restart until you get the right delay.

Hope this helps,
Josh.

Thanks for the repost Josh. I actually got chibi’s mame working and played him last night. He cant handle slide-slide-corridor yet. Wait till i learn to buffer slide-slide-IMPASS!!!

Another amazing set vs Krost tonight, focusing on two matchups.

My Hanzou vs his Erick, and my Mudman vs his Erick.

Hanzou vs Erick may well be a 9/1. I wont say Erick cant win, but its disgusting how stacked his one is. Krost plays his heart out and has some amazing comeback rounds and escapes many of my ABC rushdown patterns with ease, and STILL loses 18 matches in a row. This is Ericks worst matchup by far.

Mudman vs Erick is either a 6/4, or a 5/5. It can be hard for mudman to get in on erick, but once he is there, erick’s is in trouble. Especially if mud puts him in the corner. We went back and forth on this one, but we both agree is probably a 6/4 in mudman’s favor.

We predicted that Erick’s worst matchups would come from the characters with Fast Jumps, due his total lack of antiair options. That leaves Fuuma and Dragon to test. Fuuma is going to be a nightmare with his double jump AND wall jump, and Dragon’s wall jump and higher jump (than mudman’s) are also going to cause erick serious problems.

I agree with your breakdowns, especially 9/1 hanzou :<. we’ll definitely have to play that one some more.

Great games, as always

Interesting read. You guys are making me jelous. Gotta find out if you can run mame on ps3.

VID UPDATE!

If you want to see Ryofu losing, and/or learn how to play Hanzo, this is your lucky day. =D

More will be coming…including LOTS OF GOKUU LOSING YAY

-Josh

Nice! Notes: That was actually NOT good Hanzou in that video. I was very much playing him like fuuma through the begining of that and learning as I went.

When you see the vids of my Hanzou vs Krost last night, you will see good Hanzou. Teleport, Macrovash Kick, are just SO important to his game.

OK, while I wait for this next batch of videos to finish uploading, here is:

HOW TO BEAT RYOFU

  1. Fight him from the air.

Simply put, nobody’s pokes come remotely close to Ryofu’s, so don’t even try. And his best ground poke also destroys projectiles, so that’s pretty much out. His lack of anti-air is his main weakness, and one that you must exploit to have any chance here!

s.HP is the main thing to watch out for and try to bait - you want him to throw it out early and from a distance, where it will miss your jump and give you a nice combo. s.HK also gets punished hard by air attacks, and nothing else of his is a threat to hit you. If you have an air move with autoguard, by all means use it!

  1. Like a poker pro, be patient yet aggressive.

What does this mean? Well, for starters, you cannot just dash at him or use random pokes. But you should be moving around and trying to bait those heavy pokes, and once you do get in on him, DON’T LET UP! He cannot do much at all against solid rushdown, especially not from the air. Use whatever jump cancels you have, and keep attacking until he mashes something stupid. The occasional tick throw is also necessary, naturally, as is the occasional delayed attack to punish a backdash.

  1. If he goes for air ABC mixup, backdash or use a reversal with long range.

Short-ranged DPs are very risky because he can dodge and punish them with b+ABC. What you want here is something like J.Max’s DP or Shura’s EX dash upper.

Backdashing is the safest option, as he usually will not be able to cross you up before you can do it.

  1. If you get a decent lead on him, channel your inner Justin Wong.

His only threatening mixup is the air ABC stuff from certain knockdowns. He has no real overheads, and almost no tick throw setups even. Remember, this game’s timer counts down incredibly fast, so runaway/turtling strategies are awesome when the situation calls for it.

I think that about covers it. He’s still a stupid easy top-tier character, but far more beatable than we initially thought!

And here are some tips on fighting Gokuu!

1. Block the throw by holding d/f after he grabs you.

This singlehandedly screws him over a great deal, and leaves him with no consistent reversal attacks. You can punish him with a move that hits behind you - ninja DPs, a number of other anti-air specials, Jack’s s.MK…

2. Block the crossup rock and punish.

The rock is an overhead, it cannot be air-blocked, it is completely invincible, and it can cross up. The crossup is easy to block, though - during the move’s startup, hold either left or right and you’ll walk in that direction and block him.

Everyone gets at least a throw after blocking this, and most characters can perform some sort of ground combo.

3. Stay away from most anti-air moves.

As explained above, the rock is completely invincible and will beat even DPs! With the move’s enormous damage and similarly high risk, you shouldn’t bother most of the time. Since tick throwing is useless with him, letting him jump in on you isn’t the worst thing ever.

4. Poke him whenever you can.

Most of Gokuu’s ground normals are pathetic, and his couple decent ones don’t have the best range.

His d,u+P is his best ground move, but it can easily be hit during startup if you have a long-ranged poke.

5. Pressure him whenever you can, and bait the backdash.

He is the absolute worst character at dealing with this, since he has no other viable options on defense.

6. When in doubt, block high.

Gokuu has exactly one combo from a low attack, and it’s easy to drop.

7. If he starts running away on the nimbus cloud, use an anti-air move or dash in.

Dragon & J.Max have great anti-air specials here. “Dashing” special moves (Erick’s headbutt, Kidd’s flying kick, etc.) are good to close the gap and force him off. Jack’s s.HK can hit Gokuu. Nearly every character can do something good here…Rasputin’s the only one we know of who can’t.

After you force him off the cloud, watch out for the rock on the way down! If he doesn’t try that, maybe you can hit him out of the air as he flies over you (though that may take a bit of positioning first, it’s worth it).

8. If he uses the super, just stick to blocking.

Attacking him can be dangerous since you never know when a bee will fly right at you. Sort-of exception: The Hero version is invincible, but it also has a recovery period where you can safely smack him in the face. He will often use it when being pressured or otherwise close, so you may be able to punish.

Gokuu is a very strange character, and he takes some time to get used to. Once you learn all of this, though, he might be one of the weaker characters if anything.

-Josh

Annnnnnnd for the trifecta, new playlist finally done! Check my sig as always.

2nd match is not up yet for whatever reason, hopefully it will be by the time you read this.

This is an example of someone who knows how to punish Gokuu gimmicks…

-Josh

awesome writeups josh. you are truely a world hero.

More videos coming later tonight!

We also started doing some work on the matchup chart, which we would like to have in a finished, reasonable state for the FAQ.

Once I get all this stuff uploading, I might actually be able to PLAY someone finally!

-Josh

just by popping this disc into your ps2, you’re already ranked in the top 20 players in the US

Touche’, dan.

That may be true, but we would really like to change that by showing people whata great game this is.
