The 2007 World Cyber Games Grand Final will be at Qwest Field Event Center from Thursday October 4th thru Sunday October 7th.

What is WCG? The World Cyber Games (WCG) is the world?s largest computer and video game festival, and is recognized by gamers worldwide as the ?Olympics of Gaming.? Over 1.5 million hardcore gamers from 74 countries have competed throughout the year for the opportunity to represent their country at the 2007 WCG Grand Final and earn $2.5 million in prize money. Over 700 of the world?s best gamers will converge in Seattle next week to battle for Gold in 12 game titles such as Gears of War, PGR3, DOA4, StarCraft, WarCraft, Counter-Strike, Age of Empires, and more.

How is Microsoft Involved? Microsoft is a premier sponsor and we?ll have a large onsite consumer presence at the event. Here?s a quick look at some of the fun stuff we have in store for all attendees?
o Play the latest and greatest Xbox 360 and Games for Windows titles including Halo 3, Project Gotham Racing 4, BioShock, Gears of War, Crysis, and many more
o Display your musical chops on Guitar Hero III and the Xbox 360 ROCK BAND stage
o Meet and play with the GamerchiX and Rat City Rollergirls
o Participate in daily gaming tournaments and score great prizes and SWAG

What Else Is Going On? In addition to the competition and the Microsoft activities, Qwest Field Event Center will be packed with games, tournaments, prizes and loads of fun and excitement for fans of all ages.
o Attend the DigiPen ?Gamer Ed? Education Track on October 5th and 6th to meet local game developers, programmers and publishers, participate in workshops, and learn more about educational and career opportunities in the gaming industry. Yep, I usually watch the webcasts of this for Starcraft and Warcraft. I don’t know how some of those guys are so damn fast.

I saw some of these guys walking around downtown. They had WCG jackets on, wtf. I am so god damn envious of just how big some these games really are, impressive to say the least.

I want to go just to check it out. Damn all this homework.

Has anyone gone and checked this out? My money’s on any Korean player in Starcraft. I can’t believe that game is still so popular, considering that I first demoed the preview at the WotC game center on the AVE roughly a decade ago this month. Counterstrike has also proven its longevity. Out of curiosity, anyone else play Supreme Commander?

i watched the 2006 championships in their replay archives for starcraft. But it sucks to watch because there’s so many mid game concessions, and the players concede early. So you watch them get to factory and then all of a sudden neither player is doing anything. Pretty boring to watch. If anyone finds good replays let me know which.
