The Hakan player oiled up once dude. Hakan is only a threat when he’s shiny. You also gave him free tons of free slides and you actually gave him way more free stuff, but he didn’t punish properly at all. There weren’t even any gimmicks to look out for because he wasn’t oiled. Treat him like Gief or T.Hawk but with way worse everything. Zone him out and when you get the knockdown go in on his ass because there isn’t much he can do especially since he chose U1 and you can safe jump basically everything.
please stop giving bad advice
YOU DO NOT ZONE OUT HAKAN
Oiled or not (lol zoning out none oiled up hakan WHAT?!)
you DONT SAFE JUMP HAKAN you just do barely… barely meaty jump HKs
You cant get backdashed/ultra 1’d ex grab/slide
ultra 2 you just mix up with safe on block LK ssb (space dem shits)
and uh… ya BUFFER EVERYTHINGwhen he’s not oiled up
A safe jump setup, not even a good one, against a 3-frame Grab means it whiffs. I don’t really see what the problem with that is. The only way he can oil safely is if you mess up and get knocked down, which Hakan can’t do if you zone him out. I don’t really understand why I would go in on him and give him a chance to oil up/shenanigans when you can make him eat lots of damage by trying to get in on you. After you knock him down go crazy, but before then it isn’t necessary.
Cant tell if serious

I kind of need help with meatys but please let me know how good or bad my dud is. And sorry if the attack data bothers you, I forgot to turn it off for both vids. Thanks.
A few thoughts: I thought you focused E-Roo’s footsies really well, but in general he didn’t really seem like he wanted to press buttons. I try not to use meter after stunning someone unless I know I’ll kill them, especially if I have such a big life lead. My go-to combo is j.HP, s.HK xx LP Jet, HP Jet. Builds almost a full bar, so you would’ve gone into round 2 with 3 bars instead of 1. You got him with EX MGB > c.HK in the corner a few times, you can follow that up with EX duck upper > ultra if you have U2. Didn’t understand the two random EX cross counters.
Match 2: No need to s.HK xx empty duck, if you hit confirm into roundhouse you want to finish the combo. If you hit a focus you didn’t think you would, and they’re falling too fast to get a combo, try the Marn mixup where you c.LK and duck under the air tech (this happened in match 1 as well).
Otherwise, I think you did pretty well. Got any matches where you get bodied? =P
Bad videos
E.Ryu and Fei had no idea what they were doing.
Upload matches vs higher level players
Where’s your punish cmobos at bro
Alright, time I got some critiques. I uploaded four matches that I fought earlier, two wins and two losses. Any constructive criticism would be appreciated (Thirtyfour, I’m looking at you :P)
Disclaimer: These were all ranked matches, and online play tends to turn me into a doddering retard. Unfortunately, it’s difficult for me to capture some live matches. So, here we go.
Wins:
Losses:
Can’t believe this still has to be said, DO NOT DO WAKE UP NON-EX JET UPPER!
- Don’t jump so often. This ain’t no MvC. When you jump towards your opponent, you surrender control of the joystick for two whole seconds. Think about that. And also, when you jump, it doesn’t always have to be forward. Nor do you always have to jump in with HK.
- Don’t do random/panic ultra’s. You did like 4 - 5 of those.
- Do not start the round with duck, certainly not duck into straight or upper (even longer recovery)
- Learn meaty timings after throw, EX MGB, sweep etc.
- Don’t ever let out FA when it won’t even connect.
- When you are low on health, don’t try to go for a meaty. Your opponent will almost always try to chip you (online). That explains why the Ken ‘random’ ultra’d you in the 1st round.
- Hitconfirm, don’t just mash jab.
- Learn to buffer duck and MGB after you press st.HK and cr.MP.
- Pay attention to meter. The last round you fought Ken, you could have expected him to FADC his DP. After all, he had no reason to just throw out a SRK on its own.
- After tw.HK (overhead), do one cr.LP or none. You should be able to hitconfirm solely from the overhead itself, albeit that cr.LP into st.HK is easier.
- Nice trying to bait out the fireball againt Oni. You have to learn your ranges though to punish them correctly. =P
- Lastly, don’t drop combo’s. Use the 30-times-method.
- Short swing blow is very situational. At the level you’re at now, I wouldn’t really use it too much.
I feel like I play a lot more calm offline. In my mind, it’s like playing poker with real money vs. fake. I think “Oh, it’s just online, who gives a shit.” That being said, I do have issues with most of what you listed, and thanks for taking the time to watch. I knew Ken was going to FADC, I just always forget to watch for the throw. At least a few of the focus whiffs were unintentional, I was trying to backdash. I had EX SSB on my mind because of the video Thirtyfour posted, showing you can mixup afterwards.
The rest…yeah. I’m getting back into the lab this weekend for combos and buffering. And I’m gonna try out the don’t-jump-at-all challenge as soon as I have internet back at my apartment.
Thanks again
Coincidentally, is there a guide to meaty timings hidden in the threads anywhere? I figure that’d be a good thing to have in the encyclopedia but I don’t see the info anywhere.
It’s wise to just fine those out for yourself. The best way to find out meaty timings is to choose a 3 frame reversal character (Ryu :3) as P1 and pick Dudley as P2. Record Dudley doing some setups and try to reversal them with Ryu.
Should a properly-timed meaty hit them if they do nothing, but allow you to block if they reversal? I thought that was just safe-jumps
balrog says hi
What you’re trying to find is a setup where you can decide to not do anything at the end of it and be safe from reversals OR add a normal to the setup that hits at the exact moment the opponent wakes up. The ideal setup should end in a safe normal, to bait out reversals.
This is correct.
Look at v-ryu or Banana Ken videos
vryu goes for meaty c.shorts and banana ken meaty c.jab
both rarely get hit by reversals and dont always do auto option selects they confirm, and follow up with said character’s options
if they can backdash dash + command grab or eX tatsu/sweep
both have follow ups for every character that has multiple wake up options.
it’s amazing stuff really
once Dudleys get past always going for oki they can do HOT SHIT LIKE
vs viper
Target combo OS Anti backdash/seismo/HP thunderknuckle/Burn kcik(f.MK MK HP)
Inputs
f.MK (crouch +block MK HP HP) stand HP
EX seismo gets hit by c.HP (counterhit) into RAPE
burn kick gets hit by c.HP
thunder knuck blocked
back dash eats s.HP
on** block/hit **you get a target combo that’s +3 on hit and safe on block (lol c.LP ex duck upper FADC ???)
but ya If ya’ll want a video of this option select at work lemme know
Didnt realize I didnt answer commotion ma b
Mind: Blown. This is the kind of shit I wish I had when I was starting up. To the lab!
You need to revise that to “Thunder Knuck: Eats OS free”
You’re using the wrong Thunder knuckle. HP Thunder Knuckle comes out in 7 frames. Even if you hit on the last active frame f.MK, you’d still get hit [f.MK start-up: 8f, active: 2f, recovery: 9 frames].
Also, you’d have to explain to me during the backdash, why the c.HP wouldn’t come out, and the s.HP does…
I use c.LK, plink c.HP, plink c.HP myself.
Catches misc buttons, EX Burn Kick, EX Thunder Knuckle

I need soo much help with this matchup. This is a Guy player in my community in Hawaii and he Consistently gives me a hard time. Any advice on what I could do better and what I did correctly is appreciated, and not just against guy but the other fundamental dudley stuff too. Thanks in advance.
