Oh I know, but the dude did play like an A-rank Ryu.

This is what the lowest common denominator thinks of Dudley play.
That video was well made, Im only just starting out for 1k Bp so I’ll have to see what I can do. Hmm that video was soo classy it was worthy of my First post!
Not that my posts or gameplay will be special but should I post some crap gameplay with awful quality to top it off? I love the dudders
If you’re talking about the video I posted, try very hard to not play like that guy. His Dudley play is very bad seeing as how he didn’t devote anytime to Dudley at all and was just trying to get the requisite 1000 bp for the C to Shining C trophy.
Hes still played Dudley more than me in ranked and he is my main But im trying to put the time into him. My lack of experience leaves ALOT of opportunity to critique though
Besides, it was the way he made the vid that impressed me - the effort was definatly there in my eyes.
Hey guys I really need some help, I’ve only got 2 vids right now but there’ll be more later.

My advice on the Ranked Match 1 still stands. For Ranked Match 2, obviously don’t just throw out the ultra, but you probably know that. Also, it seems that you’re overestimating the abilities of Ultra 1. You have to react fairly quickly to use it to punish fireballs and it only has invincibility in the beginning. When you throw your opponent try to be aware of where you are on the screen. There’s a part where you throw the Chun player forward and then backward. If you had thrown the player backward first, you would have put them in the corner and put yourself in a much better situation. Don’t be afraid to anti-air those floaty Chun jumps with st. forward/crouch fierce/EX JU. Finally, you can fight Chun at midrange since st. roundhouse buffered into mgb or st fierce will either stuff or trade with her pokes. To be honest though, the Chun player didn’t seem to be very good.
I enjoy watching stuff like that. More ?
was in training session , laughed when I did this combo on Abel:
J.HP, f+mk, cr.lk, cr.lp, cr.mp, st.hk, etc. if you look closely, all six buttons are linked except after jumpin.
Useless but just funny to see how much he can link stuff.
Here are some offline casuals/training sessions against some pretty good south florida players.
Eish’s Juri is something else though.

The Akuma match up is something is commonly have issues with if they have solid rushdown. Here is a video of me against Infiltration in a tournament a few days ago.

Don’t fall in love with the Step Straight. This move can get you killed because it is extremely slow and doesn’t hit against a lot of low pokes. If Infiltration was playing more ballsy, which is ridiculous given that he wake-up Demon’d you, he could have just focused it and got a guaranteed level 2 FA combo on you. You should be using the stomach blow (fwd. strong/mp) since it has a much improved hitbox in AE. Also, because you’re playing AE you should not let him get away with any kind of low air fireball. EX Duck Straight him on reaction. Even if it trades you’re hurting him way more than he’s hurting you. Don’t backdash the Demon Flip oki because he has lots of painful option selects from it. If you can, try to get him out of it with something like a full crouch EX Jet Uppercut. Level 1 FA is REALLY bad for Dudley. It’s -3 on hit or block. I don’t know if Infiltration knows it, but if you ever do a Level 1 FA and dash forward on him, he can just reversal shoryu you for free. Also, at the end you got him with a combo into jab mgb and just backdashed and let him go. You gotta pay attention to his meter. He had 1 stock, so he had no safe option to do against you. You could have either just blocked a shoryu which is incredibly unsafe for him or kept going with your offense. You can’t waste those opportunities.
For that time that you did reversal the Demon Flip and he went past you, that really sucks. He played you on that one since he knows the ranges.
Thanks Dark! All very good tips.
Also remember when fighting Akuma, a poorly spaced sweep is a free jab MGB. You have to be on top of your punishes in this matchup, teleports with MGB, full screen demon flips with suitable anti airs, and whiffed far st. RH’s with a fat combo. Dudley has to mess up pretty bad for Akuma to get on top of him.
If Akuma whiffs the far standing roundhouse entirely or the second hit, you can do crouch jab > st. roundhouse xx EX MGB > short ducking straight. After that you can do either roundhouse duck or forward duck and pause briefly, which will set you up for a very meaty crouch short or dartshot respectively. If you combo him again off the meaty he is stunned and has basically lost the round since he will be in the corner or very close to it and you can either do a level 3 FA reset off of crumpling him into meaty dartshot > st. roundhouse xx jab Jet Uppercut > jab MGB to kill him or some other meaty combo if you have more meter. It only takes 1 bar and 2 guesses to kill Akuma if he whiffs the far standing roundhouse.
Mess up pretty bad? Akuma has the one of the best sweeps/normals in the game cr.hk, leading to demon flip mix ups. Add in some weak wake up options for Dudley and Akuma has himself some Boxer for lunch.
I really don’t think its an amazingly bad match for Dudley. 6/4 or 5.5/4.5. Dudley has to avoid the knock-down and play the ground game intelligently.
You have good spacing and links, but why no st rh to ex MGB to OMFG damage?!? (you opted to go with ducking upper)
Seriously, I was SCREAMING for it in that match, you could have outright ENDED it a couple of times! You had great control and excecution, but didnt go for the big damage? (Ducking straight to jetupper/ultra 2/mgb (in corner))
I’m trying to get used to doing the duck upper - FADC cr. jab, st hk -> whatever combo in real matches.
Since it was casuals I was just messing around with different ways to maintain pressure since it’s so freaking hard for me to get in and stay in against characters with such better footsies than me.
I figure once I get that combo down I can start using to to reset into more damage via overhead, or getting easy knockdowns with throw. I’d basically be giving up the damage from EX MGB so I can set myself up for more damage with an overhead/throw mixup.
Also, I kept trying to save ulta so I could use it as an anti-air to juri’s dive kick. EiSH likes to space Juri’s dive kicks so my ex Jet Upper’s would whiff, or trade with my st. mk. Ultra was the only way I could keep him on the ground and stop pressuring me for free and pushing me in the corner.
Thanks for all the advice!
Don’t reset unless you need to. Good opponents aren’t going to let you do that unless you figure out a way to consistently stop them from focus backdashing or backdashing. You also will likely get hit out of your overhead due to a crouch tech. The opportunities from resetting in this game are not as important as getting the guaranteed damage in my opinion.
Been playing a lot more dudley within the past few months, critiques please. I need to know what I’m doing wrong and what I’m doing right. Thanks in advance gentlemen.
