Just because something has a statistical tendency doesn’t mean it’s going to happen every time.
The action taken was very typical of those seen in mental health cases, and I’ve seen a number of men go through similar proceedings.
As I said before, the article is written in such a way to sensationalize the story and imply sexism. Nothing about the case presented screamed ‘sexism’ to me. However, I probably have more experience working in the field of psychology than most people on this forum.
Not only was the judicial action much like that seen in a mental health case, I’m assuming the police and hospital followed standard procedure and conducted a drug test. If drugs had been a factor it almost assuredly would have been reported. If she had drugs in her system she most likely would not have been released from custody. She would have been placed in detox.
Another clue was the length of time the behavior seemed to span. Most people who are being influenced by drugs have a relatively small amount of time their behavior is truly erratic. She was taken into custody, released, and was still acting up.
I can understand you might have first thought drugs, but after working in the field of mental health you start to pick up on little things like this.
And of course there was the matter of intuition. It’s just how the story struck me. Not really sure how that strikes you but it’s the truth.
Well it appears after more information about her was uncovered I was right. She was mentally ill. Hopefully this woman will receive the treatment she needs to lead a fulfilling life.
