Women have a MUCH lower incidence rate of violent crime. So a woman acting out like this is a much higher indication of a psychological issue.
But given the context of this situation, if a man did the exact same thing he most likely would have his court proceedings held up for psych evals. It happens all the time.
Again, this is a sensationalist story that’s trying to get hits and lead you to a faulty conclusion. Notice it says she avoided jail, but never mentions exactly what happened to her. It does say she’s receiving mental health attention, but it never outright says she’s incarcerated in a psych hospital. And I can pretty much guarantee you that’s where she is right now.
A headline of “doesn’t go to jail” is much more attention getting than “went to a psych hospital”.

How often are men freed from jail sentences due to pleas of mental illness in relation to women though?
How many times do we see mothers kill their children, or female rapist who rape male students escape jail sentences due to a defense that implicates some mental illness or past trauma. If I had to collect money on who is more likely to get a freebie when it comes to jail sentences I’d be a millionaire if I collected it from women.
It’s not that they have a lower incidence rate it’s just that their less likely to be prosecuted and convicted. For example in something like domestic violence with primary aggressor laws even if a woman abuses her husband and he calls the cops , he will be arressted because under primary aggressor policy because the bigger party is presumed to be the aggressor and instigator. In other cases when women kill their husbands or boyfriends the defense is usually brought up that she was abused acting in self defense. Interestingly enough for years people had a hard time believing women were the majority of child abusers without resorting to far reaching conspiracy theories that she was only acting out in accordance to the fathers orders so at every turn there seems to be some need to offer justification for violent women. Therefore this idea that violent women are rare and only exist due to psychological afflictions is a terrible injustice brought upon a even more injust legal system.
If someone like Joanna dennehy wasn’t so visibly cruel and unremorseful I bet she probably could have avoided jailed time if she cooked up some story about how her father abused her and how her ex bf raped her.

Anyway the scenario is fucked up and everybody knows why everything went the way it did. Another case swept under the rug cause of reasons that are blatantly clear.
Rarely is someone released after being jailed. That’s why mental health evals are done first and is part of the determination of fitness to stand trial.
As far as the rest of your post goes, I never said that there is never inequality towards men. My main point in this whole thread is that I feel this story is sensationalism.

This has more to do with mental health illness then anything else…Police & the courts just dont have enough resources to deal with these individuals. When these type of individuals are called upon by the police, the cops usually dont bother even taking them to the jail. Under severe circumstances they would take them to the Emergency room to get a Psych Evaluation. Most of the time the hospital dont want to deal with them so they release them back in just a couple of hours. If severe enough they would call in a DMHP if the individual pose a huge risk to themselves or others & they decide to put them in a Evaluation Treatment Center…There they will adjust their medication or get them back in track & they place them to group home or apartments. Once those individuals are back outside they stop taking medication & shit hits the fan again. These happen with men & women with mental illness.
Oh sorry I meant freed from jail like in terms of avoiding jail sentencing alltogether and not freed after being jailed. I phrased that wrong that was my bad.
