Wolverine and the X-Men Thread (now airing in Canada and South America)

It’s hard to find any episodes because youtube keeps taking them down. But it’s worth tracking them down because all of the episodes are really good so far.

Yeah. Same can be said for his Origins series too. Romulus kills anyone that Wolverine becomes close to. I think the only reason the X-Men are protected was because Charles Xavier was too much of a powerful mutant to mess with.

patch and alpha flight

No Wolvie ?

No episode this week?

I heard the English version changed networks and its new network wants to start from episode 1. I’ve been looking forward to this every week, too.

There’s always Spanish I guess, if you can understand it. That’s not an option for me, though.

That sucks.

Thank you for keeping me updated though. I appreciate it.

i don’t know how credible the source is, but apparently, there won’t be any new episodes until january.

Ummm…WTF is this new Hulk vs Wolverine I’m seeing?

Hulk vs Wolverine is a new animated movie from Lions Gate.

It’s rated teen, has some blood, and it pretty intense. Plus it has Deadpool in it.

It’s a very good movie, I’m going to buy it when it comes out.

You can now watch it legally on the offical site:

Maybe a mod can post that link on the front page and we can get a bigger discussion going here.

Now W+t XM is showing on Nicktoon in america. No sign of the Wolverine movie. I thought they were going to release at the same time.

The Wolverine movie doesn’t come out until May. They just recently went back and did some reshoots that involve more Deadpool time, from what I read.

I’ve watched the first episode of WTX; it’s not bad. I think it’s about on par with the 90’s series. But why is this airing on Nickelodeon?

Probably because they thought it would get higher ratings? They are putting it on late too, I think around 8pm which is considered prime time right?

A little pimp pimp for my new Wolverine community. lol

Just checked out the first two eps, not bad. I think the animation could be better but over it feels like a mesh of the old school xmen, evolution and the movies. Not bad.

So I went on a marathon of this show and caught up with all the episodes so far. I’ve enjoyed most of it. I still think the premise of Wolverine leading the X-Men is silly, but I’m willing to overlook that and accept the show for what it is.

I like the animation. I like some of the character designs but not all of them. I really like the designs for Nightcrawler, Cyclops, Angel, Scarlet Witch, Sinister, Bishop, and Forge. I don’t dig the designs for Kitty Pryde (she looks out of place) and Nick Fury (he just looks like an old guy, not a grizzled vet).

A lot of the designs look closer to the comic book designs. I don’t know what the consensus is, but I liked X-Men: Evolution quite a bit, and I always thought the art and designs in that show were really well done. I never liked the classic designs for guys like Blob and Avalanche and it looks like Wolverine and the X-Men hews much closer to those. I was also never a fan of Quicksilver’s original costume (that shade of green is worse than the Punisher with white gloves and white boots). The Rogue in X-Men: Evolution is also my favorite interpretation of the character; the alienated goth chick is a lot more reasonable starting point for the character than the supervillain turned southern belle/sex bomb found in the comics.

My favorite episodes of this new show are the first three, the two Nightcrawler episodes, and the one about Cyclops trying to find Jean. I know the show centers around Wolverine but I wasn’t as entertained by the episodes that completely center on him.

I thought it was hilarious how, in the Cyclops episode, Wolverine berates him for going off on his own personal sidequest, and then in the next episode, Wolvie takes the X-Jet and goes off on his own personal sidequest. The X-Men concept doesn’t work very well when Wolverine is the moral center of the group. I hope they play that aspect down a little or it’ll just be kind of unintentionally funny.

I’m pretty much a sucker for these alternate future type of stories, so the ongoing plot is compelling enough for me to overlook all the other quirks that I don’t really care for in the show. Seems like a lot of the key people working on this show also worked on Evolution, and that show got better as it went on. I’m impressed that both of these cartoons feature the writing of Craig Kyle and Chris Yost. Their cartoon work is better than any of the comics they’ve written.

Episode 15 is out…guess no one realized.
