Wizard states the Buzz on Street Fighter is still going strong!

Here’s a blurb from the last Issue of Wizard Magazine.

"Street Fighter - If you thought the buzz had died on Udon’s flagship video game adaptation, you were wrong. “Those people lace that book with crack or something,” remarked Mark Causey of Black Cat Comics in Milpitas, Calif. “People call to ask if I have it and when I say no, they come down to check in person to make sure I’m not holding out on them. The book has rabid fans.”

The ‘crack’ remark made me laugh outloud!

Shame the comics don’t taste as good as crack. -_-

So you’ve either:

A) Eaten a Comic Book, or
B) Smoked crack

Either way, you’re not invited to my Bible Study Class!

that’s great that will mean the series will be able to continue. could u do me a favour? i dont have wizard and i dont wanna go buy one to look at the prices/value of the comics…could u post them? i’m really only interested in the value of all of the foils and the a and b covers for the first 3 issues. thanks.

Nah, posting images from Magazines that are currently on sale isn’t allowed here as deemed by Moderators, sorry.

You should get The Comic Buyer’s Guide instead, though. Wizard doesn’t have everything. Some Libraries in the US even have it and you can look at it for free without the use of a Library Card. Heck, some Libraries have Wizard Magazines that you could also look at for free. You can even photo copy stuff, but that costs quarters. So yeah, there are ways to check stuff out for free.

If you have certain books that you want to know the prices of, I can give you that info though. Just tell me the names of the books and any info you can provide.

It’s a nice blurb that we got in Wizard there, but my question is “What kind of crack is that retailer taking, that he would not order more books for his customers even he knew there’s a demand??”

That is what we are fighting against nowadays - retailers who just will not carry extra copies…

But then if you dont sell all your copies of a title you wipe out any chance youve got of a profit. Better to get some and sell them all then to get some and sell say 2 and have 8 left over.

Now get SF on the cover of Wizard and youve got a surefire way to get the punters in.

What I mean is - in this case, there are people asking for more copies and all he did is to tell them he is sold out, rather than “I can order more for you!”

Wizard cover is tough, as they believe X-Men or Spiderman covers will sell them more books than anything else…

Yeah, there’s a higher risk but that’s what’s required to maximize profits. What I don’t get is how my comic shop back home refused to pull the SFs for me and seemed to do everything they could to make sure I didn’t get them. Over the summer I had come in and there would never be any SFs and I would ask them if they could order more and they would never do it. The employees and even owner had said the Street Fighters were always in demand, saying you had to get here early if you wanted a chance at getting the only copy they had. They just didn’t want to order enough copies to fulfull demand. Doesn’t make sense. Even when they don’t sell immediately, a lot of comic shops make money off “back issues,” usually selling them higher than list price later.

See this is the thing with ordering things through Diamond they can be a real pain in the a$$ when your trying to get reorders in.

You could put your reorders in on the day you receive your delivery and yet still be placed on backorder while they send out their memos to retailers asking for them to send back their spare copies.

Alot of retailers would soon sell what they have and call it quits then have copies that are sitting in backorder already paid for only to arrive when the need for them has already passed.

Kentdog, where you from man? If your from outside the us give me a pm if you need any back issues getting.

Well…I think I saw Chun Li on the cover of one of Wizards mags along with Yuna from Final Fantasy X-2 and Master Chief from Halo…I forgot when it was but it was about a year ago when it was a few months before the first issue of Street Fighter came out! ^^

That was the spin off mag Wizard Edge which was for indi titles supposedly. They had a section on video game comics and the like, it is going back a while though.

I’m actually within the US (Iowa) believe it or not. I know it sounds absurd that SF issues are hard for me to get here, but there just aren’t any good comic shops around here. I’m at a new college this year and they don’t have any shops here, and back home, the shop is shit. I’ve been getting a friend from my previous college to buy them up for me. Another option is eBay. I used to have the ultimate Street Fighter comic collection and now I’m behind. Thanks for the offer though…

If you can get Joe Mad to draw it, I’d bet they’d use it!

Yer right, though. I went to a local shop the other day, and all the owner said was that he was sold out. That’s the second shop I’ve been to where the owner generally doesn’t bother to order more copies. Fuckin’ douchebags…
