Okay I talked with Paul.
T6 isn’t coming in a week. It’ll be here sometime next month. When we get it, we SHOULD ADVERTISE THE HELL OUT OF IT. Here, Tekken Zaibatsu, and EVERYWHERE. We want to attract as many people/states as possible to come and play the game. The more people that show, the bigger the tournament scene.
And now I will address the future tournament scene:
I will be running the tournaments at Paul’s Video Arcade. And in association with T6 I’ll probably be asking Dan (Syxx) to help out. T6 will NOT be the only tournament ran at Paul’s Video Arcade, but it will be the MOST IMPORTANT ONE. So when I schedule tournaments TEKKEN will have most priority. I want the date available for the majority of people. Not just certain people and states. If they can’t make it, well…we can’t please everyone. WI of course gets first dibs, because we live here for christ sake.
We will be running two monthlies a month after the first month that T6 is available here.
Our top 3 games in WI…right now are:
- SSBB
- T5: DR
- 3S
After T6 is released:
- T6
- SSBB
- 3S
And I mention this because we are going to have to single out the dates for SSBB and T6. The volumes of people may be overwhelming and having both of these games at the same tournament will cause all type of clutter…LOL! But it’s true.
So for now I’m going to run the games like this:
Remember two tournaments a month -
One Day: T6 and 3S (after SC4 comes out and it’s tournament worthy…replace 3S for SC4)
Another Day: SSBB and Side Game (Perhaps 3S could go here. But we ARE getting SF4 too, so when that comes then we’ll see how tournament worthy that game is and plan from there).
2008 is the year for fighting games we have the likes of BasaraX, KOF 98UM, Battle Fantasia, SC4, KOF XII, Arcana Heart 2, and etc. And I know for at least 3 for these games there will be a demand for tournaments to be ran. And I WILL try my best to make it so.
But again the only way to be successful is to gain support from everyone. Try other fighters for christ sake. I remember at an Odiez tournament way back when Antonio came and played Naruto GNT4, I told him 4 moves and won his match and he said, “I could be pro at this…but it’s not tekken…so whatever…”, I was so happy to hear that. He tried something new and left it at that. Did he like the game? I dunno, but damn it he showed some love to the game by trying it and that’s all that matters.
It was like a viewer watching and saying, “OMFG a tekken icon playing Naruto, gee maybe I should try that game and be pro like him.” And that fellas is how u enhance the community.
Okay so I was going on a rant, but I think u guys get it.
Anyways, all this planing is really making me excited. Can’t wait to see where the fighting game community goes in a couple months from now…it’ll be something to remember!
