Right, but the reason your life is within 3 miles of your house is because you do not own a car, not because your dream job happens to be within walking distance (although that may be the case for some, that is not the case with most people I would assume). I guarantee that if you owned a car, your employment and social opportunities would greatly improve, thus, expanding your life radius as far as your car will take you.

I think one of the reasons why I won’t have a car when I move out there is because of insane 4.27 gas prices out here. (And the obvious insane 48+ hour drive)
It just fell to $3.99 in my area, it was $4.16 as recently as a week ago. Midwest, particularly WI and IL, have substantially higher averages than the national average, although CA still rapes every state for free when it comes to gas prices.
I’d say Midwest is about the same as the national average. National average is 3.983, but the 4.16 for the Midwest is pretty substantial. Usually you guys have lower than average prices- at least what I saw when I was out there.
Definitely not. WI consistently has higher averages than the ones reported by AAA. We’re usually .15-20 higher all the time.
as someone who just moved to WI last year, Ohio gas is cheaper than WI gas.

Public transportation does not reach as far as people need it to. Perhaps it’s because I have a wife and two kids, or perhaps because my job isn’t your average entry-level nonsense, but I cannot fathom my adult life without a car. Having a car opens up so many employment an social opportunities that you might not have otherwise. True story.
I really hate the hustle and bustle here–gas prices,shitty jobs, shitty people.
