I need to learn how to side shift then. I rarely use it so far, only maybe at the big left turn at the beginning of one of the tracks I forgot the name. Mastering airbraking has been keeping me good but probably won’t keep me good at the higher speeds.
Side Shift is really good for online play. I dodged a few missile shots with it.
Hope you guys got mics! Let’s do it!
I have a blue tooth that i have yet to get to work with damn PSN prolly because of my router but add me up and lets game i can honestly say me and this guy name subra28 are the best in Rapier and flash classes whilst i only have 2 tracks 2 learn in reverse like serious when i pass the competition they dont come back unless they run perfect laps, and even still they need to hit me with something or play very smart. Also a few pointers if you hear quake coming slow up or haul ass to the nearest boost pad it will effectively negate the slow down from the hit everything else side shift away from. Also take corners very close to the inside this may not be a simulation game but taking correct line will have your driving faster than amatures on the same track. If anyone wants training or whats i mean GOD like comp in this game add me i rarely shit talk but this is my game lol
GGs T-Kimura
Me and that Seth guy are partners in crime
Watch out for Seth, Subra87 and I, If you ever want a DAMN good race hit us up
ggs esjihn fellow demon distributor… damn i still suck ass. can you give me some pointers? what is side shift and how do you do it?
Double tap airbrake in either direction twice. used to dodge incoming fire or correct your line if your getting to close to a wall or to take S curves with relative easy practice
Also dont forget it cost ship energy but even if you catch a little air do a barrel roll left, right, left, or right, left, right because when you land it will give you a boost
You can even do just frame barrel rolls after you catch and instantly before you hit the ground after catching air to negate the ‘roll’ motion. Relatively easy on a pad, when did this with my HRAP 2 sa i was :amazed: because the JF came out effortlessly.
Alot of other tips but im off to bed now ill hit you up later
Its amazing how shit in fighting games makes you so much aware of things in other games.
Esj dude, gimme some tips. Im really trying to grasp this learning curve, Im so anal, I want to be able to blaze through tracks without hitting walls n shit.
Im turning hard into my curves and Im slamming into the walls. It seems like the steering isnt as tight as it looks, a slight tap when youre well in the turn will pull you through, and i just slam on the airbreak for dear life, but this is a tough habit to break coming out of games like NFS and Burnout where you damn near 180 in most of those tracks.
I just need some kind of guidance.
I picked up the game via Game Sharing.

Learn to side shift
-
learn how to take corners without going into 0% acceleration this IS NOT a game where you need to brake completely on hair pin turns even if its just 15% acceleration air brake side shift is better than slowing to a halt then turning. DONT play this like a simulation. Learn to take corners Quickly!
-
Practice your game in time trials. Put emphasis on speed. It is your number one greatest strength soon after you learn how to take corners you can switch to a car with MAX speed never hit walls and you will never be caught. Top Tier Pirahna players are DEVASTATING!
-
If you can deal with it FEISAR FEISAR FEISAR FEISAR i dont give a damn who you think is cool or who love learning how to play this game with feisar will help you learn the basics DO NOT go advanced without creating a stable base BASICS FIRST!
-
There is no secret formula learn the tracks learn how to use the tools that are provided
-
if your lost after 2-3 weeks and you still need help then ill make a video if need be.
Keep Racing!
I do not support this a developer busts thier ass to provide a good game and you shit on them buy not supporting them. Buy the game or dont play it at all. Id rather not here you shitting on people that worked hard to give you this game. Period.
Can you make a video now please? lol
Ill make one tonight on me doing a lap or two so you can see how crappy I am and give me pointers.
Ive learned that the steering isnt breakneck, with FEISAR at least, when I got all the way up to PHAMTOM speed in zone mode you had to predict the turns a little which makes more sense since you are blaaaazing down the road.
I can make it all the way to zone 19 with the FEISAR, if that means anything. I can also Gold the novice races, and make at least 3rd place in intermediate.
I dont want to even hop online until I am SICKENING. Im still playing Vineta K and AP.
EDIT: Also, im having problems “straightening up” when I get a little shakey, and then I slam into the walls.
You shouldnt be learning how to play good by playing zone dude it doesnt play any where near the same when i meant feisar i meant playing in non zone. I dont know how you would think that would make you better zone plays way way different. Dont worry about phantom mode. Concentrate on getting good at rapier feisar every track and show me that video and ill help you out.
EDIT: Straightening out is where shift comes in shift towards the OPPOSIT wall your about to hit then tap slight in that direction as well and it should straighten you out.
Why wouldnt zone help you out? Its the same track, and it gets faster and faster. So the better my driving gets in zone, the more seamless the tracks become when Im racing at a much lower speed.
Matter fact … playing zone is how I managed to get a gold medal in AP with 36 seconds in the first lap with a perfect.
It helps me at least.
I wanna see some crazy super players.
Use the tip he told you about sideshifting in the opposite direction, and then tap shift in the same direction to straighten out. Or, if you’re just airbraking through, you need to release it earlier because you’re overdoing it.
edit: oh yeah you might want to use ship with good steering, seems like everyone used assegai at first which i think is good or ag systems which another good beginner ship.
This is what I posted in the ps3 thread, maybe it will help you out. I’m not a pro or anything.
Well actually. . Im hitting the inside of the turn a lot. Whats that? Turning too hard and too soon?
I need to see some videos of someone else playing so I can mimic them!
oh ok, yeah definitely too soon if you’re hitting the inside wall before or during the turn. You need to approach it from the outside (have a better line going into the turn) and if it’s a sharp turn, begin airbraking early.
Better to airbrake soft early than to airbrake late hard or just begin turning then side shift.
I don’t know if it really makes a difference or not but you can also hold down while turning to slightly raise your ship’s nose up, or hold up to make the nose you down on a straight way. I don’t really think it makes a difference or makes you go faster, but I’ve always done that.
edit: is that santogold in your avatar?
I dont know what else to tell ya if you dont listen to the advice you asked for. Matter of fact keep doing zone then race me in a 1v1 and ill show you how much it makes up the difference.
Anyway try to loosen up when you play tense hands will have you airbrakeing way to early or for to long during high speed turns. This is where going into practice mode and learning these tracks will help out in the long run.
EvilJ: Assagai i wouldnt recommend for beginners in tournament mode. It handles damn good but the shield levels are too low for beginners esp since he hasnt got turns down 2 wall hits at 80% full thrust and hes already at half. Thats why i recommend Feisar its a good ship for beginners hell thats what it was designed for in the first place
Time Trials have helped me out A TON!!
 See now this here is the better way of getting better good non zone time trials help ya every time.
Oh and just in case people didnt realize this. You can shoot mines and FBombs down with mgun. but i would be warry of doing it to the bomb just side shift hella far away from those and cut a line through the mines with mgun
