I was just wondering what is the most effective way to make this happen. I’m about to try crossover but i was wondering if there was a more effective program or way to get this to work. I know you can use boot camp and get vista on there some how but im just looking for a way to avoid pouring money into a new pc this holiday since my old one can barely run TF2 and im really wanting COD4.
I have an intel based mac. But, would i have to install Windows os? Is that easier this crossover which can run applications without the os?
Im at a total loss with this stuff.
It seems like Crossover would be your best bet from the amount I just read from googling it. Installing bootcamp and Windows is an incredibly bulky solution to it.
do you really need windows? also i believe boot camp comes with leopard, or something of that nature anyways. Regardless i whole heartedly recomend the leopard upgrade, its georgeous and its new functions are incredible, i can’t wait to get my external for time machine
What machine are you running on anyway? If you’re on a macbook or a macmini don’t even think about trying ot run TF2 at anything higher than 800x600, but hey, if that’s an option…
As far as OS options…
Crossover has a trial, and if that works fine, then yay, you’ve found your solution. However, both bootcamp and parallels both require you to own a copy of Windows XP or Vista. Given that for another 50 bucks from the cost of parallels, you can get a copy of Leopard and have a completely upgraded OS, I’d just go with Bootcamp with XP.
I used to run Crossover on my macbook, it did fine for me running Counterstrike 1.6… however I would probably recommend actually installing Windows if you want to run current games on your intel mac. Just my opinion.
Go grab a trial copy of Crossover and see what you think, and if that doesn’t work then run bootcamp and get that windows install going.
