Haha, yeah, I do that too. It’s good to mix things up with more than just 2 characters.
Well, yeah, I guess the worldwide average is exactly 50%, with half the population being below this…

Yep, I’m pretty bad. Responded to poll based on Ranked.
It’s supposed to be around 50% for most everybody. If you’re winning much less than that then you’re probably playing too many people more skilled than you. If it’s much more than that then you’re probably playing too many people less skilled than you. In either case you might want to reconsider the people you’ve been playing with. (Unless you’re at a far end of the spectrum–a total beginner, or you’re Daigo, in which case a skewed ratio can’t be helped)
I’m not a pro, neither a below average player, I like to play against good players, I like to lose, so I learn from mistakes. Right now I find myself on a bad edge, where I destroy below average players, but I get almost destroyed by good players. 90% of good players, after I lose 5 or 10 fights in a row leave “bored” or message me how much I sucked doing “A-B-C” (i.e jumping too much, too eager, etc…), so I never learn, and I understand em, cuz it’s the same it happens to me when I play against below average players. It’s a vicious circle. The 10% left, are egoistic players who get upset if I use a solid ground game and they lose 1 game/round against me, so if they lose 1 round, even if they win the match, they leave to keep their ego feed.

I like to pick Random Select online and see if I can win with whoever I get.
Not a good idea if you care about W/L ratio.
wow, what name do you play under? this puts you at 1128W and 72L. pretty sick, i wonder if this is better than daigo? what are your pp? lol.
99.9%
I’ve only lost once because my lag switch wasn’t working at the time. Utter bullshit.

% really doesn’t mean anything though, as some people stick to characters they’re good with, others use a large variety, some people refuse to play people better than them, some people will try and play people better than them as much as they can, some people have better connections than others etc.
Yeah. In theory, the more people that answer this poll (or any other poll), the closer the average will get to 50%.
I’m no math wiz, but using deductive reasoning, I’ve realized this thread proves at least 1 of 3 things:
Not everyone who owns SSF4 voted on this poll.
People are lying about their win ratios.
People are lying about their win ratios.
I think it’s a little bit of number 1, and alot of 2 & 3.
The way the poll stands now, 80 percent of the people who voted have a win ratio higher than 50 percent.
TL;DR:
Pics or gtfo.
80% win rate. that doesn’t mean i’m good. it means i have alot of online friends who are not good. Because i play them alot.
You’re assuming that as many new players frequent srk as better players, but also 50% doesn’t have to be the global average win ratio you know?
In vanilla the first time I looked at my record I was at 38%!!
but with time I managed to boost it up to 58%
and now in SSF4 im at like 67%
wow it better then i thought.
my ratio is 48.76
i was sure i lose a lot more then that.
51%. No matter where I’m averaging in PP, I am almost always at around 50%.
What this means: SSFIV’s PP system works AMAZINGLY WELL. I fight people who are at my skill level and PP does seem to accurately measure skill. Why? If you fought someone of equal skill/effectiveness ten times, you should win 5 times. And that’s what happens, over time, in SSFIV. Awesome.
Right. If the survey respondents were a representative sample of the ssfiv community, the results should look like a perfect bell curve.
However, the sample will not be representative for the following reasons:
People with higher win ratios are incentivized to respond to the survey (good for ego) whilst people with low win percentages will be disincentivized.
People who are at the lowest levels, say 1-30% win rates, generally are casual players who will not visit places like srk.
People play their friends without using the matchmaking features in the game, which will skew their winning percentages.
Some people will lie (or exaggerate) to make themselves feel better, or to make others feel better about them.
However, with all that said, the results do almost approximate a bell curve, (with the upper outliers exceeding the lower ones in a manner consistent with the above arguments). Pretty neat.
50% should be the global average because when one person lose, another person will get the win. unless draw is count as loss as well.
Oh, we don’t have to prove it? Fuck it then, 100%, never lost a match in my life on all versions of SF.
