Will the current arcade sticks be compatible with the next generation of consoles?

Hope MCZ at least releases some kind of adaptor so their sticks are compatible with the new gen, obviously this may be less rentable for them if what they want is to sell more sticks.

That seems very unrealistic. Any adapters are likely to be small mufacturers, and “grey market”.

Extremely Unlikely. Mad Catz never made a Controller converter before. And there last product they made that was even close was decades ago with the last PS2 Game Sharks.
Pelican did made adapters at one point but they are not going near that territory again since they restructured as PDP.

It be like Hussle Kong said, the current adapter market are mostly small manufacturers, small time stores and the Asian Grey Market

But still, at least 70% of people who actually own and play fighting games with a stick are proficient in modding/making small adjustments, let’s say swapping buttons or gates. With that said if any company be it Asian or not releases a converter that keeps your old, possibly heavily customized stick viable for next-gen consoles people (who use arcade sticks) will buy the converter. If not I’m sure someone will just post a tutorial video in YT about changing the PCB to a new one so your old stick is usable. <-- It is more complicated/harder but still it’s not rocket science and it saves you like 130$/€/£

  • Fighting games made their comeback to mainstream this gen, thus more sticks came to the market and so (most of the) determined players already have sticks. Why would they buy new ones if they could make their old ones work with the new consoles?

  • If PS4 & Xbone are indeed not compatible with old sticks all FG-“newcomers” who are interested in getting a stick will be advised to buy a 7th gen stick for cheap and a converter/new PCB. Or everybody just buys the next Qanba.

Keep in mind it took years go reverse engineer Xbox 360 support and Qanba came in late in the scene.
There are no converters yet planed. And we have no clue how the 3rd party controller will be like (if any are even common ground).

Further more Shuhei Yoshida had this comment on his twitter account

So We all need to stop speculating and just wait it out till the PS4 Release.

We know the Xbone will be locked out much like the Xbox 360 and it could be years till a board is produced that is Xbox 360 compatible for dual-mods.
And with the exception of developer kits the PS4 will have the same set up.
