So did wiki leaks merge with perez hilton?
Pretty much all of the documents in the news lately have come from this.
Suspected Wikileaks Source Described Crisis of Conscience Leading to Leaks - Wired.com
Pretty much. All the stuff they’ve leaked is pretty much “no shit Sherlock”, nor will it’s release change anything. Other than now people will simply do more things face to face, put less in writing or any sort of documentation. So he’s done grave damage to the freedom of information.
So other than grandstanding and preening for the public to go “neener neener neener I told you the US was bad” there really wasn’t a point to this.
This is about as shocking as the revelation that OJ killed his wife.
So you are stating that releasing information kept secret will hurt the freedom of information because people will write down fewer documents to be kept secret?
I don’t think the government is going to move towards some kind of spoken-word-only documentation for running international affairs. They will just tighten security.
Tell me, whats the country of origin for most of the consumer goods in your house?
Wikileaks doesn’t do anyone any favors? Is anyone’s life enriched by knowing the government actually thinks like a government?
What they do run the risk of doing is making huge deals outta shit that probably were better off not known? Do I think the American people have a right to the whole truth? Yeah, but most niggas can’t handle the truth.
Cliches aside, Wikileaks also risks the lives of people who may be working with us overseas, like in Iran for example.
So the American government is burning their bridges and being grimy? Welcome to ten years ago.
Emphasis on the 10 years ago.

While the product of talented rapping and music production, none of that is actually news. And if you think it’s news, I believe that fact more or less speaks for itself.
^lol true.
i don’t agree with anything you’re saying…but that was dope.

anyway, this pussy will keep dodging the u.s. but he’ll get his.
I need to read this as soon as I get the chance. No self respecting person should be against this stuff, we WANT government transparency and for corruption to be rooted out. This is how you get rid of corruption. When cops bully people and ignore their rights they always say “if you’re not doing anything wrong there is no problem” (false but let’s ignore that) but they themselves refuse to follow the same rules.
The government has been spying on citizens for a long time now, not so gradually eroding all our civil rights. And they can do it because people are stupid enough to let them.
This is a HUGE howitzer shot in favor of freedom and democracy. Everyone should be reading these things and fighting to make sure we get more of it. FREEEDOM!!!
Bull. This is nothing other than some if some idiot published a newspaper story that… shocking, OJ did it!
Nothing in these leaks is shocking, and/or new. It’s all stuff that is pretty widely known so long as you don’t suffer head up ass. It isn’t really damaging to any government officials, because it’s not like other governments don’t this sort of stuff either.
So all he’s accomplished is two things. One, possibly endangering the lives of people if this information can be used to identify sources and backtrack items. We don’t know, and we really won’t know about this. Second, people are going to cram up about what information they put in official cables and their statements/opinions because now they know it can be leaked, so security will tighten and people will put less down officially.
This is horrible for freedom of information and government transparency.
They’re leakin all this political and “he said she said” bs…
Where the fuck are my ALIENS
and my hover cars
wikileaks is the best thing going right now
the ONLY reason the US government doesnt like it is because it may destroy their pockets.
Okay, so in this case, what happens when they stop spying on us? Can we go back to doing nothing of interest 90% of the time?
as a US Citizen, I 100% agree with this post.
To all the people who say that it’s nothing we didn’t know already, there is a BIG difference between suspecting something and knowing something, as well as a big difference between hearsay and evidence.
I am in favor of government transparency. I am in favor of news based on real facts rather than things “everybody pretty much knew already.”
It’s making America look bad? No shit. If somebody in a position of power does something wrong, it’s going to make that person’s country look bad. Suggesting that we should pretend not to know and resist attempts to bring evidence to light is the kind of “maintain the fiction” bullshit that Reagan’s supporters advocated during Iran-Contra. It doesn’t help. And even if the only things being suppressed are relatively harmless and frivolous, sooner or later something important is going to slip through the cracks. Better to have somebody watching.
So is every one mad about what they said about foreign leaders or about the fact we spy on people? Or is there something else everyone is pissed about that I missed in the articles I read?
