Wii Thread 4.0, WEEUWEEUWEEUWEE!

The controls for Goldeneye are customizable…I actually think they have more options for customization than The Conduit. I was quite surprised. It’s a pretty smooth experience control wise. They actually have a little training section at the start of the game so you can start customizing. Speaking of which that reminds me now that I’m thinking about it. The controls aren’t customizable in real time. That’s a bit of a negative for me…not a huge one but it was awesome making those tweeks in The Conduit and seeing and feeling your tweeks immediately so you can make adjustsments quickly if need be. With GE you have to dig deep into the options, modify how you think the controls should suit you then go all the way back out and test it, if it wasn’t quite the way you wanted it then you have to dig right back in.

Shmups on Wii I can’t really think too much of of the top of my head besides S&P but there are some shmups around through VC…I just can’t think of them. Ikaruga is available on GC so if you got a GC controller and memory card I’d easily reccommend tracking that down if you haven’t already…oh yeah and .

As for memory cards…you’re not going to need it…at least at first but SD cards are pretty cheap right now. I have a 2gb SD mem for mine since about a year and half ago and I’m still filling it up with VC/WiiWare games when I need more space. It’s all dependent upon how much you’re planning on dling though…4gb is probably plenty but you can get a mem card all the way up to 32 gb.

Wii is wireless out of the box…if you want to connect it wired through you’ll have to buy a lan adapter. The one I currently have apparently isn’t getting made anymore but there’s another one that I keep seeing in the store but I can’t remember who makes it. That’s only if you’re trying to connect wired though.

Get rechargeable battery packs so the wii remote’s aren’t eating money out of your pocket in batteries. Nyko charge station is pretty reliable as well as the Energizer Induction Chargers. Nyko is cheaper though and the only way I’d reccomend the induction chargers over the Nyko right now is if you’re using the Wii motion plus attachment instead of the new Wii Remote plus.

If your girl likes dancing and singing then Just Dance 2 and Karaoke Glee is getting bought left and right off the shelves right now. I haven’t heard anything on the MJ Experience…besides the ‘meh’ reviews. ‘Meh’ reviews didn’t stop Just Dance though. I don’t know exactly how you bought the Wii (used or new?) but if you guys don’t have Wii Sports Resort I’d reccommend that. If she likes old school mario then NSMB Wii will probably fit the bill on that. If she likes platformers in general she might dig Kirby…unless she wants a challenge then I’d reccommend DKCR. You can try to track down a copy of Super Mario All-Stars Anniversary but it’s going to be in limited quanities.

SPEAKING OF THAT…That game came in shipment today AND WE ONLY GOT 1 FUCKIN WALK IN COPY. I tried to see if I could call dibs on it but my manager said no…it’s first come first serve. The whole package thing is kinda nice. :frowning: Now I’m gonna have to debate do I want to drop kick some soccer mom’s early in the mornining to grab this copy or not.

In any case…what genre’s does she enjoy playing?

I actually haven’t seen how Muramasa looks on my new tv yet…gonna have to do that soon.

Goldeneye looks like it’s been selling pretty well this holiday season. I’m curious as to how the numbers on it are looking right now.

After playing a bit more of it. My girlfriend and I have came to the conclusion that Muramasa: The Demon Blade is broke as shit.
Cyclone is probably the best sword in the game. I infinited the 3rd act boss just using it. And Dodge Roll goes through everything.

Here are the key points of Cyclone
+Invincibility the entire duration of the move (including start up)
+Adds hits to your combo like crazy which increases your XP
+Can be used in the air (most skills can’t)
+Can immediately follow up with another Cyclone or Air Combo into another Cyclone
+Insane Crowd control
+Easy to infinite
+Recharges fast
+Non-Elemental Damage so there is never a time where its not okay to use it.

The only things even remotely bad about it is that it does so-so damage. But even then since you can do immediate follow ups into ANYTHING even another Cyclone it doesn’t matter. And the fact it has no special abilities like +1 to VIT, STR, Money Up…etc. But again, doesn’t matter because that’s what the other 2 swords and accessory slot are for.

And Dodge Roll is just as good. You don’t even need to glide or walk when in battles. Just dodge roll. Its invincible the entire duration.

Game is broke as shit. But really fun. I’m level 27 now on Act 4.

^ Thanks sonic. Picked up mario all stars and mario kart… Whats the wii console like? top 10 games to get?

I am currently on my girls cell because our internet died…sigh. in any case look at the front page. I tried to put most info you would need there including a top ten and suggested titles list. Speaking of that…i wonder if dkrc is worthy enough for top ten…

Has anyone done the whole ‘installed downloaded (from teh net) virtual console games on the sd card’?? wii hacks there’s seriously too many back titles i wanna play but dont want to pay… for all of em.

How is The Conduit? Is it a worthy FPS for the Wii?

I’m buying Red Steel 2 for my brother (he is 12) and I was wondering about Star Wars: Force Unleashed. Is it decent? I noticed there is a sequel already out but I wanted to check with SRK first. What other games will be good options? I’m looking for action games, two players preferably or some sports games. Does Punch Out! have a vs option?

I personally enjoyed The Conduit. But if you’re looking for a good FPS, Goldeneye 007 (the Wii version, although the orignal is another great game obviously) is better.

Yay…interwebs are back

I agree with Infini. Conduit and is solid and helped shape FPS on the wii (Hell…Prime 3 and Conduit probably shaped how motion controlled FPS will play period). Goldeneye took what Conduit did with controls and added some other features for a better experience. From what I’ve heard so far currently on shooters though, Goldeneye has the better single player campaign and Black Ops has the better multiplayer. I didn’t get a chance to try out GE’s multiplayer for myself so I can’t give my own opinion on it.

Either one would be a fine distraction until Conduit 2 hits early next year.

Mixed things were said on Star Wars FU1. Heard from customers who had played it that it was fun/ok. The 2nd is supposedly better than the one’s on the 360/PS3 ONLY if you care about Star Wars Bros. Melee. In general though I’ve heard complaints that in general SW FU can be really repetitive…so your mileage will vary.

Red Steel 2 is awesome…it should at least be nominated for Wii game of the year IMO since it’s probably the best use of the Wii’s capabilities this year.

AQ interactive…some of them from Artoon. Also interesting is that they have an auto and manual attack feature in the game

Wii Horror Game Uses Balance Board

There’s a game coming out in japan called ‘Night of the Sacrifice’ from Marvelous Entertainment. Here’s a trailerI tracked down. If the balance board is used in anyway how I think it is based on the trailer than it could have some potential. Unfortunately I have a feeling it probably won’t see the light of day over here anyway.

If you want to see an unboxing of Super Mario All-Stars then here’s a vid.

VGA awardsare coming up… and something I find really interesting…enough for me to lift an eyebrow at is that SMG2 didn’t even get nominated for GOTY. I’d have at least thought it would get nominated before getting drowned out RDR or Mass Effect 2 but not even getting a nomination?

Forgot to mention…GS is doing some big ass sale this weekend on various stuff…including a B2G1F on used games and accessories. One deal they have going is getting a $10 gift card for SMG2 and Kirby if you buy them new on the 12th or 13th…might be something people who haven’t bought either and are interested may want to look into.

The Last Story looks so damn amazing. I really, really want that game to be good.

Indeed.

Bit of news on it as well. Some info on Kanan the heroine, who I’m assuming is the female in the logo. Also some info on the “appraisal” and weapon upgrading system.

Meet The Last Story’s Heroine (andriasang.com, 12.13.2010)

More and more I get the feeling of Final Fantasy IX from this one. I am very pleased.

Damn man… every time this situation comes up in my life I wish I learned Japanese instead of Spanish haha. Then the game comes out in the US and I’m like “fuck it”.

Updatedit: Nintendo is promoting with a live streaming broadcast of Sakaguchi talking about Last Story. Unfortunately for me, it’s going to be on the 27th at 14:00, and I’m gonna be at work.

^ That’s probably going to be in Japanese too though…maybe someone will translate it and put the translation up on the internet.

I’ll probably get The Conduit eventually since it’s bargain priced at GameStop.

Sunday I picked up New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario Galaxy 2. I got Mario fever!

WiiWare: Lilt Line, Family Games, Violin Paradise VC: Darius Twins

We were just talking about shmups weren’t we?

Huh. Funny thing about Darius Twin. My friends were JUST asking about it being on VC last week. Now it is.

Well, I scored a copy of Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition. And at Wal-Mart. GameStop had some copies as well. When I heard GS was done on their reserves I thought I was screwed for sure.

I showed up at Toys R Us half hour after they opened and picked up their last copy of All-Stars. I got five bucks store credit too!

Good timing on Darius Twin.

Playing FFIX till Last Story comes out.

Yeah…My store only has it’s reserve copies left now. Christmas season this year has hit my wallet with an Astral Finish and still hitting it with an OTG. I’m sadly going to have to pass on adding it to my collection. I need to start preparing for the 3DS anyway.

Good job on you guys finding that. It’s pretty much been confirmed by Nintendo that they’re only doing a 1 time only shipment of this game. What’s out there is out there now…that’s what they told us.

Meet The Last Story’s Cast:
Meet The Last Story’s Cast - Wii Preview at IGN

It would suck so much balls if Nintendo decided not to release this game over here. I think i’d lose a tiny bit of respect for the company. I’ll keep that preptime annoyance locked up in closet for the moment just for such an occasion that this does happen and just continue to have more faith in them for the time being. If memory serves me correct they are supposed to be having some type of small conference in January. I’m hoping we get to hear news on the status of this and Xenoblade if that’s the case. Also digging the artwork on that cover.

Muramasa looks damn good on this TV. Everything seems to just pop out more. I should probably run through the game more to go through all the extra quests. I can only hope that there’s some type of sequal to this game being worked on. I think there’s more potential that could be pulled out of the combat.

I still have my sealed copy of Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn sitting on my shelf of games waiting for me to finish up Path of Radiance. FE takes me so long to get through because I care way too much about the characters to just let them die and continue on without them and I don’t want Ike to just fucking beast on everybody and nobody else get any experience. Accidentally let Hector do that in the GBA game and he ended up being my go to guy whenever situations got a bit too hairy on the battlefield. Too bad he can’t be everywhere at once.

That’s a good thing, because it’s pretty fucking easy to let Ike just soulcrush everyone. He’s like, the most broken FE character ever. And that’s in a series that has Sigurd and Hector. Once you get Aether you’ll understand.

Any advice on buying a decent gamecube pad or should I just go for an official one?
