Wii Thread 4.0, WEEUWEEUWEEUWEE!

I’'ll pre-order it today.

havent played this game but I’m aware that its getting really good reviews. i’ll probably buy it tomorrow.

Because graphics and gimmicks are all that matter.

Actually, in this case, that’s pretty much the issue. The graphics and the so called “gimmick” (its not a gimmick anymore when other people are following suit) are the two defining concepts that separate the Wii from the other consoles. I am an admitted Nintendo fanboy, but won’t turn to a blind eye when I know shit will start hitting the fan. Even Suda said it himself saying that he took NMH as far as it could go on the Wii and that his franchise needs more to grow.

Maybe for the consumer, graphics and power aren’t everything, which in this case, your sarcasm is okay with me. But for game creators and developers, it’s going to be an issue. There’s a reason we aren’t seeing new games for the NES, SNES, Genesis, etc: the graphical and processing limitation they have.

I’ve have and am currently playing The Conduit on the Wii, and I’d recommend it to any Wii owner to play. But, whenever I talk about it, I always tend to say "It’s the best looking game…* on the Wii*. I remember Matt Cassmassima saying during the previews that The Conduit looked on par with first generation 360 games. After playing, I can’t agree with it totally. I mean sure, it has all the filters and effects, but the resolution really took the game’s look down in points.

Personally, I like the Wii. I play the “hardcore” games it has and even the casual ones hardcore may not like. It has the best exclusives and currently is the only system that has motion controls which gets better and better after each new game coming out. I still recommend the system, but know that we will be seeing less and less core games in the future until an HD version comes out.

That too…one of the things that the Wii also had/has as a leg up over the other 2 consoles is that for the most part you didn’t have to worry about most of it’s good exclusives showing up on the higher consoles. 360 and Ps3 share a lot of games in common and then you have the small handful of good exclusives…there used to be a pretty big sizable gap in exclusives but the Ps3 and 360 are sharing more and more with each other. Fanboys will be like ‘na na na na! We got this!’ and then 6 months later a better version of the game will show up on the other console lol.

Matt has some back up on that because when Conduit was first rolling out…if you remember in the previews he’s not the only one who when first rolled into the room with the game playing mistook it for a 360 game. I agree with most of this post save for ‘best exclusives’. I still tell customers at the store when they ask my opinion on which consoles are the best that it’s going to be dependent on what you’re looking for but don’t grab both a PS3 and a 360 because it’s redundant.

Super Smash Bros. Grand Rumble

New characters: Professor Layton.

Oh yeah Megaman, Geno, and Little Mac are in too.

‘You’re too sloooowwww!!!’

Finally had time to play FF IV: The After Years. It was actually pretty good, except for the ridiculously high encounter rates which I suspect is there so you can either (1) build up your character levels or (2) think that the game is longer. It was pretty annoying.

However, the story got me pretty hooked, I have much love for the original game and this just makes you want to play all chapters so you can see what has happened to everyone. If you ever wondered what happened to Kain at Mt Ordeals at the end of FF IV, the first chapter will answer that for you.

I’m going to try out the Rydia chapter next, since its the only one available, but I think the next three chapters will be available tomorrow.

Well, fuck. There’s hackers doing infinite life and shit on The Conduit’s multiplayer, totally messing it up for the rest of us.

Gonna need some friend codes fast.

Interestingly enough, that’s all I needed to hear to prevent me from getting the game. Who wants to play online Wii shooters when there’s always someone cheating?

I played MKWii with some SRKers this weekend for fun after not playing in 7 months, and thought I’d be able to give it a run a few other games until I see someone starting out the race with a star in front of everyone else. I turned off the game and left it alone.

god dammit…well you get what you pay for. I don’t see the fun in cheating and ruining other people’s time in a game. Has there been any complaints on message boards about the hacker’s alpha…do you know? I’m hoping there’s some way HVS can find these guys and boot them off…and we get more people with codes. I’ll probably be able to jump online sometime in the next coming days. I’ve been all over the place recently.

Monster Hunter 3 - Japanese Preparation Trailer

Yeah, I know they’ve been talking about them on GameFAQs. I noticed Infini was fighting a motherfucker going by “Sigma” who took four shotgun blasts to the face and two melee attacks and didn’t die, then pulled out some laser cannon thing that tracks and kills you almost instantly.

I go on their board to see if anyone happened to notice and boom, first topic first page is “ATTN Sigma” and some guy talking shit to him, about how if he didn’t use the infinite ammo/health cheats posted on GFAQs earlier that week he’d suck. There’s several others doing it too, it apparently uses the fucking Homebrew Channel.

well hopefully this sort of works in somewhat of the same fashion as that wall of shame for SFIV…but i doubt it’ll have as big an effect since it’s Gamefaqs. I’ll make a mental note of that so incase I run into this guy online I’ll immediately leave. I can’t remember if this game has a way to block people and prevent from joining any of their games. HVS needs to put that in The Grinder if at all possible.

I got Wii MotionPlus a few days ago and I tried Tiger Woods 10 on it. I was incredibly impressed - even the most subtle movements were picked up by the controller.

Definitely looking forward to new games using the WMP.

Didn’t get a chance to the other podcast but I’ll listen in on the new one and see if there’s anything worth hearing.

They’re going to play RE: Darkside Chronicles this week. So hopefully we’ll here more impressions on this game soon.

More info on Spyborgs this week as well

yyyyup…Resident Evil: Archives is basically identical to the GC game…so much so that they didn’t even bother making it widescreen lol. They have black bars on the sides.

New Grinder stuff is coming! Matt said hopefully tomorrow. Mostly showing off very small refinements and changes they’ve made since E3.

New Naruto Rev 3 trailer supposed to be going up tonight.

So far they’ve said smash is better than TMNT…not surprising at this point. That team better step their game up if they’re serious about trying to at least be on par with smash.

they had an interesting question from a reader asking them if they had a choice would they rather cover a different console.

That’s all for the podcast.

Speak o’ the devil…

IGN Bit.Trip.Beat Core Review

7.8

A new Smash Bros with Megaman in it would be awesome. I hope Sonic is still gonna be in it too though.

A new Smash Brothers where they fix the actual game instead of having it be a trippy, automated, slow-paced camp-fest would be awesome as well.

You do now!!

I see that they’re trying to catch up to the EX series by adding characters from EX2 to speed up the process some. I wonder will they extend the story a tad to include Sasuke?
