All I can say is compared to the UK we’re getting gypped hardcore. Bitch bitch moan, whine whine complain.

Anyway, time to pay off my reservation and be happy forever.

Double-post and I don’t give a fuck! (Unless I get infracted or something, in which case I certainly give plenty of fucks and apologize before hand!)

Nintendo Direct, Today, 3pm PDT, Wii-U.

Posting here as it’s technically not an E3 thing.

This isn’t really a double post lol. And it is related to E3…I already put it in the E3 thread but that’s fine if it’s posted here too.

my most anticipated game for the Wii U, right now

this is the best looking Wii U game so far.

lol, what was that at 0:47

Trine 2 was actually released on 360, ps3 and PC. Though from what I understand the Director’s cut is Wii U exclusive.

I’ll make a new thread to focus on the upcoming Wii U when I get the chance.

That trailer that you posted up for P-100 got me a lot more hype for it, so thanks for that, [S]Sonichuman[/S] GOD AMONGST MEN; SEXPERIENCED. I am also really excited for the potential of ZombiU.

However, I don’t think Nintendo sold me on being an early adopter. The social aspect of SMBU isn’t enough to make me think that Nintendo has addressed their lack of support for good online multiplayer. Especially with the philosophy of “Together Better.”

Although the 3rd party games that are coming to the Wii U are a huge victory for Nintendo, because some of them are (enhanced) ports, I don’t know if it will be enough to get some of the PS360 crowd to start buying Wii U games (at least not immediately). And if that doesn’t happen, I’m concerned that there will be another vicious cycle like the one that plagued the Wii: 3rd party games not selling well for the Wii U, so companies stop making third party games for the Wii U.

Maybe if some new 3rd party multiplatform games start getting released on all three consoles (Aliens: Colonial Marines comes to mind), it can highlight the unique experiences that the Wii U can offer and it might start picking up some steam. And of course once the big first party juggernauts start dropping, you know shit is gonna get real. But I foresee a rough start for the Wii U.

Would really like to hear what you guys think. Also, don’t forget about The Last Story! It’s right around the corner!

I’ll give some thoughts in a few…

PARAGRAPHS OF THOUGHT

[details=Spoiler]Nintendo’s E3 conference…it was no doubt lackluster which is bad considering the fact that they were supposed to be putting their best foot forward to sell the console. They’re supposed to appealing to the hardcore crowd and try to sell them on the system and they could of easily done that but somehow they ended up falling on their face. ZombiU is actually getting a good bit of praise from people who have played it and had a chance to experience it and personally after reading the impressions and I find myself wondering ‘hey…why didn’t you guys do a soft demonstration of this game during the conference?’. Same goes for Project P-100…and for companies like EA not announcing that they have Madden and Fifa coming to the system. I personally couldn’t give 2 shits about Madden but the fact of the matter is there is a large chunk of the core crowd that does. Don’t even mention NBA 2k13 is coming to the system either…the biggest basketball franchise out there? The whole conference was meh but I understand that they have to try to grab the hardcore and keep their casual audience.

And yet as I continue to look over the conference and past experiences that have happened in this game industry I can’t help but think that they aren’t up a creek regardless and the fact that they have a whole year to themselves should keep things hopeful. There are no official spec sheets out there on this system so the fact that the serious launch line up games look pretty much current gen is a good thing until proven otherwise. These are launch games so it should only get better from here from a graphical standpoint…well only on the games that are made exclusively for the system anyway. Their launch window is actually solid. The fact that they’re launching a system WITH a Mario game is a huge selling point regardless of any number of individuals feelings on Mario or the NSMB series. Me and everyone who actually visits this thread saw those lifetime numbers for that series and the 3DS got completely turned around with the help of Mario. Then add in Madden and Fifa and the lineup pretty much has almost something for everyone. You have your casual dance and singing games, you have your fitness, you have your assorted M rated 3rd party games, you have your platformers of which 2 are exclusive, there’s a mario game, there are sports titles, and you have at least 1 fighting game. I mean really the only thing this lineup is missing is a military shooter which is really the only biggest flaw this lineup has currently. Believe it or not this pretty much shows that Nintendo did infact learn from the 3DS launch and from their hardships with the Wii. They’re putting forth effort here.

We all know the biggest problem that Nintendo has had over the course of it’s last generations has been 3rd party support and they’ve got that. The only issue is will they be able to keep it? In all honesty there shouldn’t be a reason for it not to keep going into the next year unless the third parties in question have beef with the company or find putting their game on yet another system to be far too taxing. This system has something going out of the gate that the Wii didn’t have…control options and the fact that their standard controller is pretty much equivalent to the competition’s save for the fact that it has a screen in the middle. If the third parties wanted, they have the option of completely blowing off the screen if they want too and just porting a game as is to the system. Unless Nintendo comes out with some policy stating that 3rd companies have to use it in some fashion mind you. Ports are in no way bad…better to have non ‘enhanced’ port of a triple A title than to not have it at all.

All in all even though their conference was lackluster, I think they are moving themselves into a good position barring any dumbass decisions that they make from here on. Like I said before they have a whole year to themselves at least and then they’re going to have to wonder what’s going to happen when Microsoft and Sony release their consoles. With rising development costs for games, 3rd parties might actually use Wii U as a lead sku for their games before porting games to the other platforms in the same similiar fashion that most do for their games between Microsoft and Sony…this is of course unless both systems are on a whole different level of power. I’m optimistic…We’ll see how next year goes.[/details]

what?

Yeah Sexperienced actually posted that trailer in here not me lol.

Fixed.

Thanks for putting it into perspective for me Sonichuman.

If we go by the assumption that Sony and Microsoft will have their next gen consoles out in the next 2-3 years, which will then make Nintendo’s console look ancient again, do you think that will leave Nintendo in the position they were in with the Wii? (3rd parties not developing games for the Wii U because it’s a less powerful console than its competitors)

If both Sony and Microsoft’s systems are actually far more significantly powerful than Nintendo’s system and the gap is as big as it is now then yeah I can see Nintendo being in trouble. There are other factors going into this as well. I’m actually wondering right now if Wii U will be able to run UE4 (watching the stuff on GTTV right now). If it can’t and PS4 and Next Box can then that’s probably not going to be good. Middleware helps lessen development costs and UE3 is popular so it stands to reason that at some point in the future a good chunk of the industry is going to want to shift up to the new Middleware. That being said current consoles aren’t even running games at Full UE3 potential. There could probably be some reluctancy in some of the 3rd parties since there’s still some space to move. Then of course there’s pricing…in order to run stuff like UE4 how expensive are those consoles going to be? Adoption rate on those consoles could be slow because of it.

Again though it’s all about the games…If Wii U can get a good adoption rate on its consoles with a continued steady stream of games then that’s going to be something 3rd parties are going to have a hard time ignoring since that’s potential money.

We probably won’t know what Wii U’s hardware will be really capable of until 2-3 years into it’s life. Pikmin 3 looks nice to me but considering the fact that it spent half of it’s life as a Wii title then it’s last 2 years getting moved onto an HD console I’m curious to see a title from them that was made from the ground up for the system…like whatever it is that Retro is working on.
