Wii Thread 4.0, WEEUWEEUWEEUWEE!

Okay Let’s Tap definitely feels like a 30 dollar game, but still fun in short bursts. I like the tapping mechanic as a whole as Rhythm Tap and Tap Runner are the stars of this game, but Silent Blocks and Bubble Voyager feel sort of hit and miss to me. Definitely not meant for single player play other than improving your scores on all mini-games, but all the mini-games have multiplayer which is cool. Plus, any flat surface other than boxes work like a stool for example.

Then again, Giant Bomb tries to push it maybe a little too far.

Definitely a 8.0 - 8.5 game and its 30 bucks.

Summa Bitch…

they were working on Rogue Squadron for the Wii. Apparently all the assets got pushed to a different company. Sounds like some BS went down from this article though.

IGN Overturn Hands-On:
http://wii.ign.com/articles/995/995774p1.html

this sounds very interesting. It’s a Wii-Ware title that came out in japan and is apparently coming over here at some point. It’s a mech game with offline and online 4 player battles. And it also works with the Wii Balance board.

The Conduit Slips:
http://wii.ign.com/articles/995/995532p1.html

Europe gets ‘Europed’ again

Truthfully, that sounds like your average developer hijinks. I heard similar stuff has went down at even Rare or some other European developer not long ago.

Looks decent. I’ve seen my share of bad Virtual On clones and this looks somewhat fun. The whole take to much damage and have a readjusting balance screen pop up, looks like an interesting mechanic, if done properly. My only concern is mecha variety and some of the fields look badly designed.

Podcast is up…and apparently Matt finished up the single player of The Conduit…as usually I’ll post up interesting footnotes in this post.

They get the final versions on Wii Sports Resort Friday so they’ll probably have more stuff on it next week.

Sin and Punishment 2 will have online leaderboards. Said it’s going to be pretty fun but concerned that it may feel too much like an on rails shooter but they’ve only been able to play 1 level for now.

They’re really digging Silent Hill.

Of course they’re pretty impressed with The Grinder…they played 2 player online co-op and it was pretty flawless and the framerate didn’t dip. Death match should be pretty fun…people playing as werewolves and vampires. and in case it wasn’t mentioned before voice chat will be in.

Not so impressed with Gladiator A.D. butit wasn’t necessarily bad…Matt just feels it was a bit limitingbut he’s hoping they mess a bit more with motion plus and still has some hopes for it.

They are really all about Scribblenauts lol…

The review for Conduit is coming soon. His final runtime on the game was 5 hours and 30 min. The game only tracks actual livable playtime…meaning if you die then the time between the last save point and the point of death is not counted. Matt said he died about 24 times and he wasn’t trying to be strategic so he estimates he sunk about 8 hours into the single player so he belives realistically most people will probably run through the single player in about 5-6 maybe 7 hours. The replay value is going to come from the multiplayer modes, achievement system, unlockables, and cheats for later. He hasn’t tested online right now. He enjoyed it and started to compare it to Perfect Dark. He did mention that there isn’t too much character variation and some repeating level design which they said is to load the next area. Matt’s going to try out the online with HVS tomorrow and the online chat to see how it works so I’m hoping for some impressions on it soon…so far it sounds slightly higher than 8.0 on just single player.

Bozon is not feeling Virtua Tennis 2009…says it’s ps2 portish. Everything is really slow and laggy. He still suggests Grand Slam over it and admits that even though it’s not perfect if you practice with it a bit you’ll find it’s pretty enjoyable. I’m still waiting on GT’s review on both of these games…and there’s still barely any done for virtua tennis on metacritic.

aand that’s all

IGN Virtua Tennis 2009 Review:

7.8 says he enjoys this version more than the 360/ps3 versions as well as saying to play it with the wii motion plus or subtract a point from his score. Of course he does mention it’s flaws. Apparently Imitrex posted up some impressions that he found earlier with some bugs/problems with the game in this post. Still not that many reviews for this game but what has been done has been done so far hasn’t been completely all over the place like Grand Slam.

Tecmo and Koei Plan Crossover Title:

this could prove interesting…though whatever it is I doubt it’ll show up on the wii.

When Conduit comes out I’ll definitely be picking it up so I’ll give impressions on that when I get a chance to play it.

The Conduit - Exclusive Launch Trailer:
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusive-launch-the-conduit/51651

Be sure to tell everyone to buy a legit copy of The Conduit. This low key games that was just a mere speck of dust a few years back should get some selling accolades, especially since this game has been on a lot of people’s recent radar as a hit.

Hopefully the reviews will be just as kind and we’ll see more from HVS and other low key developers.

I had already spoke my similiar piece earlier on that issue around the Feb/March period about actually going out and buying the games to support the devs that are actually putting effort onto the system other than shitting out shovelware. Devs look at you buying a game as voting power as to what you want to see on a system and if shovelware is getting sold over quality, then devs are going to see that and respond accordingly.

regardless, everybody on the hype train!

Tales Of Graces - Japanese Trailer 2

This looks awesome.:lovin:

Would have been amazing…if not for the fact that the guys who worked on Tales of Destiny are doing this one and thus the battle system is some 2.5D bullshit with no Free Run like Abyss/Vesperia/Symphonia 2. It’s just alright thanks to that.

I haven’t found Wii’s “it” game yet.I want to get one but I haven’t been shown a game I absolutely have to have.I’ve seen some cool stuff.Nothing spectacular.

Wow, way to fuck up Silent Hill…

Nice lists SonicHuman, much appreciated…

It’s great to see someone include Blastworks and Castle of Shikigami III (although I’m not so sure that it is a wii exclusive) on a list of must haves. If you are looking for great shmups the wii is the place to go for sure. UFO interactive has put out some decent shooter with ULTIMATE SHOOTING COLLECTION (Radio Allergy, Karous and Chaos Field) another wierd cute 'em up in THE MONKEY KING and a newer one that I don’t have yet called SAINT. There have been some good wiiware shooters too most notably Gradius: ReBirth, and TONS of shmups on the VC. There is a lifetime of great shooters available on the wii right now that is about the only thing that keeps me off SFIV for long.

I’m curious…please explain your reasoning.

Castle of Shikigami III is exclusive to the wii…the other ones before it are not. The lists that are made at the front I try to take as much into account as possible, this includes feedback and impressions from you guys as well as the popular gaming sites reviews vs. metacritic/gamerankings (this meaning if the current score is pretty shaky and reviews are all over the place I start just taking the ones that really matter into account which is including but not limited to IGN, GT, 1up, GI, etc). And also take note that the list isn’t just comprised of ‘must-haves’ but solid exclusives are mixed in as well. I wouldn’t mind doing something similiar for 360 and Ps3 but I’m not sure if it would be a appreciated or even needed lol.

In terms of the Wii’s ‘IT’ title, I don’t think it’s going to be this year. This year is just the clicking of the lightbulb upstairs for developers. There’s definitely going to be system sellers this year but there’s a couple of titles that could possibly carry the IT title next year that we haven’t even seen yet…2 of them being Retro Studios project and whatever the hell Bethesda is working on. Then there’s Metroid: Other M…it looks awesome but after the stuff that’s been going on with Team Ninja this seems like a wild card to me right now. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is going to be great no doubt but I have a feeling that it may end up being in the shadow of it’s predecessor if things keep going the way they have (SMB=SM64, SMB2=SMS, SMB3=SMG, SMW=SMG2?). Only time will tell on that one.

Now…I gotta read and watch more of this stuff

GT Metroid: Other M - Pop-Block E3 Debut Trailer
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gt-pop-block-metroid-other/51816

only watch if you aren’t completely well versed in metroid lore. I found this pretty well done and informative…to bad they may have spoiled a plot point. I didn’t completely finish fusion but it’s cool regardless. Story wise this game could be quite awesome.

  1. They’re fucking with the story big time. I know this is suppose to be a remake, but it’s already conflicting the stories of the previous games.

  2. Americans can’t make a Silent Hill game. Look at the last two to come out.

The last SH game wasn’t that bad and this whole notion that Americans can’t make so and so game is fucking stupid Japanophile bullshit. It isn’t like SH 3 and 4 were shinning beacons of game design and they were made in Japan and largely considered worse then the SH game that came out last year.

BTW get Tiger Woods 10, fun game.
