wtf, they are hella inconsistent… try short + tron short and dash in and try short launch, it won’t always work.(combo) Maybe it’s not the rings, maybe it’s magnetos timing… But the rings do hit differently at times. Sometimes only 2 rings hit or it resets. heh.
well i guess if you try dash in and launch afterwards, but what i always do is
short,short+tron, tri jump short short, dash in c.lk, s.mp, infinite
and it always works, you get full ring hits if you triangle jump first
That’s not inconsistent at all - you just haven’t paid enough attention to Tron. Tron rings hit 3 times on a 4 beat pattern. A ‘meaty’/deep Tron (training mode ™: summon Tron, jump over them) hits 3 times. A shallow Tron (tm: stand in front of them, summon Tron) lets them pop out between the 2nd and 3rd hits where the extra beat is (1.2…3 is about how they hit). The 2nd hit doesn’t have deep attack-caused stun - it’ll break your launching or HG combos and/or release the attack-stun.
So the problem is that shrt,PP,shrt+launch gates on that 3rd ring. This is why it’s cleaner to triangle jump in the middle of the hit series and then launch - you avoid the timing issue between the 2nd/3rd ring. You can see the attack-stun gap pretty easily with Tron-Y in a trick that I use - do a close whiffed Tron-Y + Cable LP scimitar at the same time. They leave block stun just as Cable lands (2 beats) and then the 3rd ring kicks in and whops 'em if they took the bait and released their block in order to attack. It’s more funny than effective, but it does illustrate the lag on the 3rd ring. You should practice with Tron-Y to understand the timing here. Heck - this even affects Tron when she’s on point, since canceling rings into Lunch Rush is even unsafe there, as the late ring hit WILL interrupt your Lunch Rush (which is funny the first time, but since of course all missed LRs are nigh-fatal… you don’t do rings->LR :wasted: ). But this is all a massively tangential discussion on Tron’s rings. Sorry. Back on topic.
