Much better and faster access to buttons, and well as more accurate directional control, are why playing fighters with the stick is so much better.
With a gamepad you’re limited to thumbs only, and you can only hit sequences of buttons so fast with your right thumb. Its a pain in the ass. Where as with a stick— your whole right hand is freed up, allowing you to quickly “type” button combos fast and effectively! Also good for any moves that require more than 1 button to be pressed, like War Machine’s smart bombs in MVC2.
Some pad warriors will actually not grasp the right side on the pad, and instead hover their hand over it and hit the buttons in a similar way to how one would on a stick. Thats just doing it half-assed though, just get a stick and do it the right way.
Also directional commands such as 360’s, and forward-back-forwards for supers. On a D-pad your thumbs feel like they are being raped! With a stick however once you get it down, such motions feel a lot more natural and easier to pull off quickly when the time is right.
This is why…
Stick > Gamepad
Cuz Stone Cold Tim Static said so.
Plus… (I forgot to add) …they use sticks in tournaments! nuff said!
I used to play all the Capcom fighting games with the Japanese Saturn controller. Best controller for fighting games ever created period if you actually had to use a controller. My friend had some cheap Happ type arcade sticks and buttons in his cabinet that I just couldn’t get used to (didn’t feel the same as Capcom arcade cabinets with Happ stock) so I always stuck with the controller and simply used converters for the random systems. I just recently spent $180 or so on a stick and I could never go back to using the Saturn controller for any fighter. There’s definitely a difference in quality too. Unless you buy the parts seperately and have someone build it for you, you really get what you pay for.
Errhm…while my stick wrist was fine, my arm was really sore and the fingers I used for the buttons burned like hell after I had my stick for a day. Played for like eight hours. Sure, after a few more days no problems, but my fingers do actually have small callouses on them now…kind of like what you get from playing guitar, except on the wrong hand.
Also, Daigo uses a stick, therefore if you use a stick, you = Daigo
Because it makes it easier for tournament organisers if you can play on any console. oO
arcade stick can be a showpiece
Thats thats wierd to me either you have REALLY sensitive hands or your not holding it in a way that would keep your from experiencing pain.
Also you DO NOT have to tense up to play on an arcade stick.
Why is your friend angry that you bought a stick? Pure jealousy. That’s all. He knows full well that buying a stick takes you to the next step in gamer evolution.
Stick is the way it was ment to be played. All moves where designed to be performed on a stick. That’s why when playin on a stick you will always be more efficient
than playin on annything else.
